Damn! I just got a 13" MBP this 4th of February, do you guys believe I'll be eligible for an exchange to the newer version?

I believe that store managers can extend the return policy to 30 days when updated products are involved.

What features are we expecting?

Also think Apple store would swap my macbook air 13" for a macbook pro 17" when they come out? Ill have owned the AIR 6 weeks though...so im probably out of luck.

hey guys, I'm going to America next week. You believe that on Thursday I can buy the new mbp?
or when you think it will be in the market?

thanks for the reply

14 days is usually the return policy. A max extension to 30 days is possible when an updated product launches.

Your best bet is to sell it on eBay or CL.

It'll most likely be announced on Thursday but won't be available in-store for purchase for another 3-5 days. As was the case for my MacBook Airs in Oct. 2010.

Haha and they even named it 'clamshell'. :D Can't believe how hideous it is, lol.

That clamshell look has certainly not improved with age. Anyone remember Reese Witherspoon's character in legally blonde using a bright orange clamshell during class - complete with the upside down apple logo!

Hey, don't knock the clamshell! ;) It was my first mac (in key lime!) and though it replaced an IBM that I loved, I've never looked back. Granted, its look was an acquired taste--my housemate actually referred to it not as "clamshell" but as "toilet seat"...

Played a huge part in bringing Apple computers into public awareness. Great product and design in my opinion and needed to happed to help apple get where it is today.

Question

Many people on this thread write about swapping their (new) Air for a (newer) Pro. Do you guys just want a bigger screen, or do you have other reasons, which I would love to hear to help me with my tough choice between Air or Pro (both 13 inch screen). Portability is important, but the Air looks a bit flimsy, so I'm hoping the new Pro will be the best of both worlds. But I'm very torn what to do if there's no major redisign... Any thoughts on this most welcome! :)

the thinkpads the others are using in this picture wouldnt even have enough battery to last through that lecture

True. Funny how things at college have changed. At the undergrad and med school I attended, Macs were the predominant laptop of choice.

I own the latest 13" Air and it's screen size just isn't cutting it for me. Looking to upgrade to a 15" Pro. The Air is plenty capable for my everyday needs but I would just like to have something w/ more screen real estate.

whoops ahah im watching a movie and on the computer at the same time. i meant macs vs pc

Multitasking efficiently is key.

Do you guys think SSD will be standard now for MBP's (especially 13 inch?)
If not, what is a better combo to have a faster laptop

2.4 ghz CPU
SSD

or
2.6 ghz CPU
regular hard drive 5200 rpm

If I were to price the current MPB 13 inch, they would be about the same price^
But of course you only get 128GB worth of storage if you go SSD

Im curious, why does everyone seem to want the MBP to be black if there is a redesign? Frankly I think the silver brushed metal look is so much sleeker, the black mockups look boring and generic. Sure i'd love to see a redesign, but more of the overall shape (slimmer?) than the color. Or even if they did change the color I hope they would go to the liquid metal dark grey before they go to black.

The only thing I am really hoping for is an improved display. They have IPS displays in everything, iphone, iPad, iMac, the Cinema Displays. Everything except the Macbook Pro. Which for the price they charge, it deserves one.

That is my only complaint about the ones we have at work is that the viewing angles on the screen are terrible.

I think of those two, it would be the SSD that's by far the fastest. I really hope they put SSD in it. I would be happy with 128 GB, since it's more than enough for just notes and documents and some music. All my movies are stored on an external anyway, but others will have different needs of course. :)

I agree with you. Dark gray and slimmer.
