New MacBook Pros Likely to Launch on Thursday

Seriously guys, if you need a computer, you just buy it. It's even better if you buy it just when it's released. But restraining oneself from buying a computer only because it might get a new redesign next year is plain idiotic, if you really thought that, you couldn't buy any Apple product.

Best buy online has no shipping option for mbp 15 and 17. And if I search for qty at local stores they are ALL "ship to store" only. None are showing stock at all.

I've heard very good things about the skinit skins being both durable and reusable, so I'm assuming that they are easily removable (though not so easily that it just falls off :p). also, I doubt they would use a product that would ruin the finish on any computer.

EDIT: They use 3M adhesives which are great quality

This is the pic Steve Jobs used in the notebook event presentation on 10/14/08 to illustrate how Macs are dominating the university scene.

The picture was taken at The University of Missouri. The school's strongest program, the journalism school, strongly recommends students purchase Macs before entering their freshman year, so 99% do.

I love the random kid in the middle looking slightly unhappy and awkward with one of the only computers sans glowing apple in the room. :D

No. If it is a major tech shakeup, they will announce it. Perhaps not a full court media press. They seem to be leaving that to WWDC and going with local onsite press with a stream. We should know by Tuesday if that is happening

Not a shock. Apple is moving away from having tons of old models left that take forever to sell. So phase one of a slow burn would be the lesser selling high end models like the 17 inch, the high res anti glares etc. They will take those days to ship because they have to be built as they are ordered.

Oh come on folks, don't you read the sites. Steve doesn't care about computers, just his itoys. So if anything comes out on his birthday it will be the iPad. New toy for him to play with. And salt to the wound, that is supposedly to be the day the Xoom comes out. But folks will be glued to their computers to see the stream. And then bright and early on Friday they will start the pre-orders etc.

Go to bestbuy.com and do a search. Put in the sku from the new ones listed.
