I am not sure about slowing symptom, but apparently, wifi stops working once usb-c devices are plugged in. It works fine when no devices are plugged in though.

You can see above symptoms in detail:
[youtube]

didn't watch it but that sounds like something that would most definitely not make it through apple's own testing.. something else going on there it seems.

New Macbook Pro, Chinese USI WIFI chipset, 2x2 streams, 867Mbps
Previous Macbook Pro, US Broadcom WIFI chipset, 3x3 streams, 1300Mbps
just some numbers when written like this.
what's it mean in real world use?
for instance, i get nowhere near 1300Mb/s with 2013mbp wifi.. like, that number isn't a real number.. just like 867Mb/s isn't..

is the new wifi slower than the older one? that's all i'm wondering. anybody see any real world side by side comparisons of the two models?

The new two 15" MacBook Pro (base models) retails at insane $3000 and $3650 in India. If you are paying that much of price of a laptop, they should have made sure that it's compatible with all TB3 devices out there.

On a related note, I think its kinda funny that Refurb 15" MacBook Pros are nearly sold out...... there were many different ones available when I last checked a couple weeks ago.....
(Darth Vader voice)NOOOOOOOOOO!
The 1tb models are sold out. Man I hope it doesn't end up like the 2012 Mac mini quads which are rarer than hens teeth on the refurb store...

Ok. So. I've tried to remain positive on these new MacBooks. In spite of that god awful keynote I'm actually test driving a 13 inch rMBP, and mostly enjoying it. But...

WTF Apple. What in gods name is the Mac team doing, and why hasn't the leadership been replaced or reprimanded because it's obviously lacking.

I'm sorry, you released Thunderbolt 3 compatible Macs, that are somehow incompatible with EVERY SINGLE Thunderbolt 3 device currently on the market. And you didn't even bother to mention this "marginally" important fact in the technical specifications or online documentation. You left it to the community to figure out via trial and error. That's either willful deception, flat out negligence, or perhaps both.

This is so anti consumer it's ridiculous. At least those of us on this forum now know and are aware of this issue, but as someone else pointed out, the vast majority of buyers can't be expected to be a peripheral chipset expert, and honestly shouldn't have to be. If it says thunderbolt 3 on the package, works with pcs via thunderbolt 3, and isn't relying on a special driver, there is no reason it should not work on a new MacBook Pro.

Honestly if Apple doesn't fix this issue via a firmware update or provide a damn good explanation as to why they couldn't make it work and why they didn't feel it important enough to mention anywhere, this test drive might end with a flat out return.

You know the story of Snow White, right? Apple is very deceptive. As other poster had posted a video of thunderbolt captibility....it's sad.

also this thing runs on 6th Gen Intel CPUs correct? Not 7th Gen intel CPUs?
Okay, for the last frickin' time (who am I kidding) there is no Intel 7th generation CPU that is appropriate for the MBP! Same reason it's not in the latest Microsoft Surface release. The 7th generation Intel chips currently available are for very base-model PCs and high-end toasters. This has been explained a thousand times on the forum and still, here it is again. What is wrong with you people?

Well dang... That does it. Apple just doesn't cater to power users or media creators anymore. I knew things were going south when they discontinued the 17" MBP, my favorite computer of all time.
I just preordered the new Razer Blade Pro, because I need a laptop of that calibur for my job as a VFX artist.

I'll miss you, OSX. :(

What are you using now?

Sounds like a security-related issue with the TI first-gen.

Just because it works in bootcamp/windows doesn't mean it'll work in osx. Each driver is as anal as it wants to be, and various vendors have different philosophies re: how tight to the spec do you want to be. Apple apparently is substantially more stringent when it comes to behavior than other vendors, no surprise.

I use a Hackintosh for my main system, but I had my fingers crossed that they'd release a kickass new MBP that would be as awesome as the last gen 17" they made (even if it wasn't 17"). And to be honest, I find myself using Windows 10 on my Hackintosh more than OSX these days.

So you were pirating OS X and expecting a laptop that somehow matched an imaginary ideal you had? Kinda setting yourself up for disappointment there.

A boy can dream. It's not an imaginary ideal because Apple LITERALLY used to make machines like this. And I would own a Mac Pro right this second if they updated the specs more than once every few years. I've owned dozens of macs over the years, so I wouldn't exactly call it pirating -- it's holding out hope that they'd turn back into the company that I loved only 5 years ago. I would give them ALL the moneys if they continued to build machines that got frequent updates and catered to creatives that didn't look like an octopus with dongles and hubs hanging out all over the place.

It is pirating, though I don't particularly care. The notion that the new 15" driving multiple 5k displays doesn't "cater to creatives" because it's not 17" is nonsense.

Apple don't give a damn how crap the new MacBook Pro is because (if the news is to be believed) the new MacBook Pros are selling like hotcakes anyway and that's all that matters to them.

I feel like you're wanting to argue with me for some reason, and I don't really want to do that. But I'll say that having multiple 5k displays doesn't mean anything when you're not at your desk with your multiple 5k displays. And I'd be perfectly happy with a 15" if I wasn't forced to use dongles and hubs while I'm traveling between film sets.

Hubs? How many things are you plugging in "between film sets" and what are they?

Red Rocket in a Thunderbolt PCIe enclosure, up to 4 drives at a time (5k digital footage is ungodly large), Wacom tablet, etc. I will use every single port I am given. Apple used to make machines that catered to this kind of need, but they don't anymore. I'm not saying that's a bad thing for the average user. I'm just saying that they won't work for my purposes (or people like me) anymore. By all means, buy a new MBP if you want one.

Meanwhile.... Mr. Jobs is rolling in his grave :(
Tim Cook needs to be fired an NOW! iPhone 7 was a ****-up! Now the MBPs are lacking innovation... Apple however never fails to fill up their own coffers by introducing 1000+ dongles.

"We had the courage to remove the headphone jack" Courage my ***.... lets talk about how much you saved up on licensing charges.
