A little glimmer of hope for you all......

As I, like many of you, have got fed up waiting, I have been scouring the interwebs today trying to find the best deal for a Macbook Pro. I had an online chat with a large reseller in the UK and they advised me that all the signs, according to them, point to a new MB Pro this month and that I had better wait.

Yay *dances around*:D

Sounds like they're guessing just like all of us.

If they don't need an event for a completely revamped MacBook Pro w/ case design etc....then why the heck do they need an event for new colours & elongating the iPod Nano?

...and pressure the media to attend because they don't want to miss "something big."

longer

new colours

less Classic

newer iTunes

big deal

A brand new professional notebook after all this wait would be a WAY bigger deal than longer rainbow Nanos.

AMEN - what in the world is Apple thinking?

ZOMG HOW CAN APPLE DO THIS TO US OMG LAME

WHY NO NEW MACBOOK PROS!1!!1!!

Even though apple has roughly 14% market share of the PC market (+/- a few)

while they have about +70% market share in the MP3 market (+/- a few)

STUPID APPLE GET YOUR PRIORITIES STRAIGHT1!11!

Revenue from music sales and phone contracts is more than the profit margins on computer. That's Apple's priority. Profitability.

Apple is still making an average of 35% profit on every computer they are selling. And they are selling more computers each new month then they did the month prior, and significantly more computers each current month then the same month a year prior.

So profits from the computer division just keep going up and up and up which lessens the pressure on Apple to update and release new products.

iTunes & iPods ! , and Apple said that the keynote was a " big deal" :(

Yeah, I thought the same exact thing.

At the same time as the call I was watching my stock ticker on top of my screen slowly dropping (my apple stock that is).

I know it will rebound when Q3 results are released - it was just little funny.

Notice the name of the company in question does not contain the word "computer". Apple doesn't really care anymore.

Ya well they better care. The whole reason Windows users are beginning to "switch" platforms has its roots in the iPod. Why did the iPod *really* catch on? Because they made iTunes Windows compatible. The whole point to Apple being the "hub" of the modern lifestyle/home entertainment system/lovefest w/ gadgets is having a Mac at the center of it all. A computer made by the same company who makes the OS AND all your central gadgets.

By not caring about the computer part of this equation and the whole house of cards will eventually come crumbling down. iPods are obviously way more profitable than computers for Apple but they need them to sell MobileMe and all their latest greatest gadgets in the abundance that they do.

Posting basically the same message in many threads isn't much liked , you have been given a clear answer from at least one other member in a previous thread ....we all want to know , that's why WE are here !.

EDIT> in fact , I think you might actually be Steve , just mocking us , come on big man ....you can tell us ...we loves the Apple

Steve Jobs probably had a "one more thing" line where he was going to introduce the new notebooks, but was distracted by Jack Johnson's dreamy eyes.

haha, all just waiting and waiting! But it could be nothing afterall! Could be the next Macworld. :(

I hope SJ lives long enough to give a keynote when the new notebooks are finally released.

Seriously.

A major update of the MacBooks / Pro would be really nice, because I want to buy one and I won't buy one now, when they could release the next day new versions.

Next day? You've got at least a month before the announcement and a month and a half before they'll be shipped. Thats the best case scenario. Good chance you could be waiting another 4 months before anything is delivered.

Four months? Are you stoned?

Does anyone know what the largest hard drive is likely to be in a MBP shipped by Apple? The store seems to stop at 250 GB. Is that it? I thought there were larger capacities available.

And RAM. Will more than 4 GB be an option any time soon?

I'm fed up with slowdowns seemingly caused by too many running apps, 2 GB RAM and only 10 GB free HD space. I just checked and my nearly 2 year old MBP seems to be fairly up to date compared to the latest specs!

320 GB is an option today if you're willing to open your MacBook Pro up. 8 GB of RAM is almost guaranteed.
