Well I finally got my 17" anti glare MBP today...it has a dent in the aluminum just below to track pad...not real happy about it.

send it back.
btw i hope that those dents were caused by bad manipulation at the factory etc. rather than just bad material. I wouldn't like to get dents or chip off when i look after the laptop like a baby.
Unfortunately, only time will show :)

Joy....called up Apple to check the status on my order this afternoon. They were extremely polite an courteous, but the result was: delayed.

That's all they can say, they have no information other than that it is delayed. Not what is causing the delay, nor when the new ship window might be. They said I should have received an email, but I've not gotten a peep from them since I got the invoice on the day of the order. And now seeing a number of people who ordered well after me having their MBPs delivered.....not feeling a lot of love from Cupertino right now!

They were nice enough to waive the expedited shipping fee, however. One thing I've noticed in dealing with Apple...I think maybe once in all the time I've been a customer have I ever (be it retail store or via phone) encountered a rep who wasn't absolutely pleasant, and more often than not willing to go the extra mile when possible.

It is SATA 3.0/II; and the X25-E saturates the bus (270 read/ 210 writes)

says Quickbench --- ZoneBench says 3000 reads per second (11.845 MBs) and 7400 writes per second or 28.590 MBs. It seems weird that reads exceed writes -- I think the results are actually vice versa. Xbench score = 253 (full test) and 348.99 disk test. I sorted the MacBook Pro Core 2 scores highest to lowest -- 253 = No. 7. The other six were Mac Pro(s) (apparently categorized wrong) and one MacBook Pro w/ scores that literally don't add up.

(look for "Alvin Moon's MacBook Pro"): http://db.xbench.com/comparesubindex.xhtml?machineTypeID=40&sort=score&minVersion=1.3

"Just a quick update on your order. The ETA date for the Apple MacBook Pro is 23/03/2009. Should you have any queries
please do not hesitate to contact us. We will contact you again when it is ready or if there is any further delay"

At least it has a date....

oh man... you might be right... this will be close..

Mine's not being delivered to my work. I have to go pick it up. Not to mention, the guy could be in Sydney or Melbourne when it arrives. Hopefully his wife is in.

May the best man win.

Guys,

I have a question.

I have 2 orders and one says on the "current delivery status - Shipment dispatched" but on the other order it says in the "current delivery status - In transit to customer - shipment on schedule"

First order shipped on 17th march
Second order shipped on 16th march

What does those 2 differences mean? Is it actually different or does it mean the same? Also, I don't have carrier assigned to any of them but have our delivery reference number which is very different to order number. Is that any good for any tracking etc.?

Thanks for help if anyone has experienced it before

Arrives tomorrow. Anyone else having their reseller purchased machine finally shipped?

lol, this is funny. As soon as I wrote it then they changed it to : In Transit to Customer - Shipment on Schedule.

So now both orders say the same. :) Hilarious ;)

Damn, that sucks. Got mine yesterday, and I inspected it carefully, but it's fine except for some easily removable dirt on one of the corners.

The screen (antiglare) is amazing and looks huge (I come from a 2 and a half year-old Lenovo laptop with 12" screen, so for I'm not gonna bother doing the glossy vs. antiglare comparison, as the 17" antiglare is a marvel compared to the Lenovo). I used the higher performance video card for a graphics-demanding game last night, and didn't notice any issues some have mentioned (e.g. flickering etc.). I have my fingers crossed that everything stays good from now on!

Btw, is here anyone from UK who got the MBP delivered already? How long did it take from shipped to delivered?
I have estimated delivery 25th March but current delivery status says 20th March. Which one is correct and what can I expect? Anybody knows?

' Hmmm... Well I'm in a similar boat as per some of you guys. Maybe slightly more convoluted and difficult...

' I'm based in South Africa. No Apple stores here. No Apple even - of any shape or form. The best we have are local suppliers that bring in stock and represent Apple as best thay can. I don't think there's anything remotely official - just fans trying to further Apple's image / name / etc.

' As such - and because of one or two other reasons - my order needed to go through one of these suppliers. No direct or internet order.
' But one way or another my order went in the 12th of February.
' CTO 17-inch. 2.9GHz, 8GHz RAM, 320GB 7200rpm HDD and matte-screen.

' As per many, I'm still waiting.
' I was told I was to receive the system last week Friday. But when the shipment arrived without my laptop on-board the excuse I got was that the "newer" stock - i.e. the newly announced iMacs, Mac Pros, and Minis got priority shipping over my month-older CTO laptop.
' I'm pretty sure that's what THEIR suppliers told them though - I kinda doubt Apple was involved in any point of this process except maybe right at the beginning / top!

' As of today there is NO news WHATSOEVER about ETAs for my system. No one on my team can seem to get any information at all about the situation or the duration of my continued wait.

' I'm sitting completely without ANY kind of system at the moment. ARGH!!!
' And while I honestly am prepared to wait longer to ensure I get a rig without problems of any sort - there's also a limit beyond which things just get ludicrous in my opinion!!!
' And we're getting close to that point now methinks.

' Again, just a little honest feedback from Apple with regards what's going on, why and LIKELY duration of remaining waits would make all the difference! From my perspective it's the absolute silence, the not-knowing that bites! I could be far more patient if I just knew what was going on - waiting in a vacuum is what's truly frustrating!!!

<Sighs!> Anyway. We'll just have to see I suppose.

is apecode.com no longer available to track your order using apple's reference number? Is there something similar that would help? I am so anxious now as I would love to get it on friday (i have a day off) :)

"Not Yet Shipped" is now my new most hated phrase in the English language. It just sits there on my computer screen torturing me. Why Apple why?

There was a someone in dublin how got theirs from a reseller.
Also, kastenbrust is in London. From memory his/hers arrived sooner than expected.

You might have to skim through the last few pages of the old thread https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/632002/
