That's fine that you're spending less than us, but be honest and mention that its a developer discount and that you payed $300 or more to belong to the program and you only get a single discount in a lifetime.

In CA the tax rate is 9% I'm saving $270 on my machine plus the extra $100 PcConnection takes off for no obvious. I'd have gone with MacMall, but they're in CA as well.

Developer: $99. Printer is free (100 rebate). So technically, in the end, still paid less.

Furthermore, the "single discount" only applies to the Student Developer account, not the select/premiere. Those have 1 hardware per year and renews until you end the development account.

Again, there's a bit of dishonesty. $99 is the student developer price. The regular developer price is much higher. And I never said you didn't pay less, I'm just saying that as a regular citizen, and even as a regular student, buying from apple is not the best cost wise.

Keep this going until we get more info. Has anyone ordered anything like a case or palm guard yet? I was about to order a sleeve but the max dimensions they listed on their site was just a tag smaller than the new unibody so I'm holding off. I hate to have a naked macbook for a few weeks but I don't want to buy something that wont work anyway. I want this one.

Has anyone who had a ship date of the 19th received a shipping confirmation yet? I noticed someone said all confs so far were pre 19th ship dates. Also has anyone who ordered in Feb received a conf yet?

I ordered and already received a keyboard protector for my new MacBook Pro. Just waiting for the actual keyboard to put it on at this point lol.

It's brokened, somebody fix plz?

I bet that the midnight oil at Apple will be running all weekend to get these babies out in force Monday. Just wait;)

If you're a student, the ADC is more cost effective then your method.

The regular is made for regular developers. If you're not that type of person, it would not be cost effective.

I fail to see how it is "dishonest" since I technically came out to a total price of $2864.xx. That includes the 2.93GHz w/ 7200RPM drive and Student Developer Price and Recycling fee from California. You indicated you paid $2999 after rebate for a 2.93GHz w/ 5400RPM stock drive (unless you got the 7200RPM drive also for the same $2999.99 as listed on PC Connection). Furthermore, I got a free printer (99.99 w/ 100 rebate) off this package.

According to these numbers, I paid ~$2880 vs your $2999. That's a ~$110 difference.

I'm sure the midnight oil is always burning :)...it's a factory, they have shifts and a 24 hr operation no doubt.

This is a stupid argument. I paid a little better than $500 less than retail for my setup from Apple, because I knew how to ask for it. That doesn't make me dishonest, it makes you an idiot for generalizing.

It is no more dishonest for him to take advantage of Apple's student programs than it is for you to take advantage of a $100 "rebate" on your machine, since every authorized retailer is required to sell their computers at MSRP +- $5.

Just ordered mine last night. Says it won't ship until March 23! Hopefully it doesn't take that long...

Thanks for insulting me. You're really cool for doing so. My point was merely that you and other are making yourselves out to be getting great discounts as average consumers, when actually you are paying for premium treatment. No one here who isn't a developer should think they are missing out on what you're getting. I think I've said that twice. Please read before you start name calling.

I wouldn't be so upset, if I were you. I ordered Feb. 4th and my delivery date was pushed back twice. It's now standing at March 17th

Damn that does suck...I ordered (2/13) ship date March 16th here to Hawaii. Still sucks (ship date) but not as much as your ship date, and you ordered almost 2 weeks ahead of me. Did you get some sort of discount, rebate, or a hug?

What is it with this site? So he posted a short post about the price he got using the ADC Student 1 time purchase. It's a choice anyone can make. The choice defined as being a student and purchasing expensive apple hardware making the ADC membership worth it. Why do you think people are not missing out? They are, many don't know about it. Lot's of people, especially now with iPhone apps, want to develop software, but that's not the whole point. Anyway, I'm probably done posting on this site for now, I'm sick of the negativity/nitpicking.

i hope we get something for free for the wait, other than zombies, nothing worse than waiting for a new toy! the macbook pro is my new toy

Agreed. It's just their choice. If they see that they can actually gain from using whatever choice available for them it really is their business not yours. And again, can't say enough about this but this thread is for people to talk about the DELIVERY DATE!!!

they have the money, Ships: February 19th, but still no delivery date

more with the same problem ??

There seems to be loads of activity elsewhere-shipping address greyed out, cash reserved/taken & EVEN emails advising of shipping. Here in UK absolute zilch since I was advised 'shipping on 19th'-I just want something to happen!!! All can do is stroke my green SuperGimp laptop bag for comfort, & read enviously of all this stuff happening for other people. I just can't wait to play!
