hi to everyone.
Finally i decided to give an order (2.93 ghz, 7200 rpm hard drive) but i have a problem. My credit card limit is not enough to purchase, can i give an order with 2 credit cards?
Second question, can i do this in the apple store?
Thanks for your help.

Yes you can. If you order on-line (US) it's on the check-out page, after you have logged in. Underneath the shipping options, in the payment method area, there's a blue button that says "pay with two credit cards".

He lives in the UK so that information isnt helpful, all he has to do is phone Apple or walk into a store, the one on Regent Street is best.

His location says New York. It is certainly a reasonable assumption that he means New York, NY.

Delivery Dates

Appleinsider is reporting today http://www.appleinsider.com/
Unibody 17-inch MacBook Pro now shipping

Readers have told AppleInsider that their orders for the redesigned 17-inch MacBook Pro have started shipping as of Friday.

First launched in January at Macworld, the system first showed signs of delay when some customers were told their orders would likely slip into March despite promises it would ship in late January. Early this month, the company let many of these buyers know that their orders wouldn't ship for about two weeks due to problems "wrapping up" production.

What triggered the delay is unknown, though the 17-inch MacBook Pro is considered a technology vehicle for Apple.

Credit Card was authorized last night ...

Hopefully the laptop will be shipping soon.

Custom:
2.93
320 7200
Anti-Glare display

Ordered 1/13 shipping date 2/27

Again, I ordered 1/22, ship date delayed from 2/12 to 2/19.

No activity yet accept on 1/23 called by CC company to verify preauth on my card.

Frankly, by the time Monday gets here, I can say certainly mine will ship "this week." With expedited shipping, that puts mine in my greasy little fingers on 2/23 or 2/24.

Frankly #2, I expect anytime for my shipping status to change from nada to prep or shipped and a bunch of "here is what is happening to your new MB Pro" emails from :apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple:

No biggy.

BTW, where are the buys with the movie popcorn and their feet on the desk laughing their a$$ off at this thread?

BTW #2 - the Throne Room is much better now with some light reading of the new MB Pro early 2009 manual.:cool:

I think the matte displays delay things even more, but again your 2/27 date is worst case.

You say worst case but my glossy display 2.93ghz 8GB ram 7200rpm machine was supposed to ship 16-02 according to Apple customer relations but has been put back to 26-02

And I Live in the UK according to them only US orders have shipped can someone please confirm if you live in the UK and yours has shipped

Many Thanks
Paul

According to what I heard, they ship by first come, first serve.

I recently called MacMall and they said that the 17" MBPs would be shipping out on the 18th... Is this legit?

I hope so. I've been told the same thing from Macmall. There shipment dates also changed from the 12th to the 18th. Hopefully I should have mine by the 20th.

I highly doubt they will receive shipment before the people who ordered directly from apple.

Some of us will be getting it before direct orders. I would think stores promising these since mid january would have priority over folks ordering from apple last week. I ordered the 12th. I've been promised a shipment this week as well by PcConnection.

I'm sure there will be plenty of these to go around once Apple is up and running.

Its on a first come first serve basis IF you ordered from Apple

If you ordered from an Apple store its the same, your in the same waiting list

If you ordered from a 3rd party reseller, apple authorised retailer, or any other kind of Apple seller such as Macmall, PC Connection etc your automatically at the bottom of the list until Apple start shipping, so your on the list as if you ordered on the 13th Feb. Check back through past threads like this and you'll see thats the case, the advantage is that you may have saved a bit of money.

In one word: No

If you ordered from Macmall your at the bottom of the queue.

You'll be lucky to see it before March.

Are you speaking from any real experience and or knowledge?

Places like Macmall and PC connection buy wholesale from apple. They order on a different level than then the single orders you place on apple website. They also consist of a fairly large portion of apple sales because there considerably cheaper.

So if your apple, yes you want to keep your customer base happy but you also want to service the resellers that buy literally hundreds and hundreds of machines at a time. Believe me, places like Macmall and PC connection placed huge orders just after the release of the 17" and no I highly doubt there not at the back of the list for shipping. Apple want to move product, there a business.

Your right and wrong, we have to wait until the main shipments start on monday, then until the resellers can ship them on which takes extra time. If the truly dont start main shipping from Apple until the 19th, theres no way Macmall and the like can get them on your doorstep before late the next week.

Another point is that resellers dont place orders like normal customers as you suggested, they have special contracts with their procurment departments to get a certain amount at a lower price (lets say a crate of 500) and this ensures their supply, but Apple have to make these first and logistically shipping 500 as one order is harder than 1 or even 50.

The last time the 17" came out about two years ago i remember this same thing happened exactly, Apple delayed the shipping by 2 weeks, and then i didnt get it until a further week after my delivery date and a lot of other people experienced the same thing. Although all other times ive ordered from Apple stuff has come well before the delivery date.

It could happen my way..... Even if Macmall's shipment is sent on the 16th and they get it the 18th like they say they are, they ship it 2 day to me and I have it on the 20th. I'm not counting on that in any way but you never know....

I honestly just hope mine gets here quickly. There is more to life than logging into Macrumors to check the "New MBP 17" delivery dates!" thread every 20 minutes.

Seconded.

These are big companies, they are very likely to purchase in bulk. Makes perfect business sense.
