Ordered January 21st. Nothing happening with shipping yet.:(

I am similar to you. Ordered 1/22nd. Nothing has changed since I ordered, but I am to ship on or before the 19th (48 hours from now). If we can wait till now, what's another 48 hours?

Just what I thought would happen. I called and told her what's going on(people who ordered after me have had theirs shipped) and I quote from her...

"I can assure you sir, no orders have shipped or will shipped until the 19th."

How is a company like Apple this out of touch of what's going on? Seriously, from the delays to the poor customer service I'm really getting a bad taste in my mouth from Apple.

For both of you I'd call in to Apple to ensure nothing is wrong with your account, someone earlier ordered on the 6th and it was held up due to a replacement of DOA headphones.

SSD Orders

Sweet...finally a delivered one. I'm just hoping mine will actually "ship" since it seems everyone who ordered in Jan. has gotten the "shipped" status update.

I ordered mine in January, the 26th and have not gotten a "shipped" status. My credit card has a hold on the funds but has not processed. I have not gotten any email from Apple.

2.93GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM 2X2GB
256GB Solid State Drive
SuperDrive 8X
DISPLAY-HI RES, GL,Widescreen
No DVI Adapter
N0 VGA Adapter
No Remote
No IWork Preinstalled
Final Cut Express Preinstalled
Aperture Preinstalled
No Logic Exp Preinstalled
No Filemaker Preinstalled
No Microsoft Office Preinstall

Notice that I ordered an SSD. I'm hoping for a Samsung SSD. My hunch is later is better for me.

Has anyone gotten a confirmed ship date with a SSD as part of your order? Those who ordered SSD's, what was your order date?

I ordered Jan 17th and have not gotten any updates on shipping status whatsoever. Still says not yet shipped.

I just upgraded the HD to 7200 RPM and had Aperture installed. Those are the only changes I made.

Nah, nothing wrong with my account. I order via the business end and get the same people generally on the phone. I have already confirmed preauthorization, etc....

They could very well have mine being packed right now and set in line for those to go out Thursday first thing. With some of the earlier trends from those first shipped, some went directly from "Not shipped yet" to "shipped" before they could blink.

That can happen quickly and you are not guarateed an email each time the status changes, even if they say they will email you.

Regardless, I don't have any doubt that mine will ship on the 19th or sooner. I really haven't seen anyone order after me that has there's yet.

Is your ship date 19th? If so, yours should ship then. I don't know anyone ordering after 15th that has had their status change much.

There’s allot of guessing and assuming going around here, but does anybody have any idea on how many 17” macbook pro’s they actually produce in a single day?

Ireland or China?

Earlier in this thread I said my MBP was coming from Ireland based on the tracking info on Apple's order status page (and orders in the past I've had from Ireland).

I now have UPS tracking info, and it only shows China locations. It's therefore not clear to me where this thing is actually coming from, but with a delivery date of 19 Feb, I doubt it's still in China.

And I can't believe my luck that it's going to arrive so soon. :D As far as I'm concerned, Apple will have exceeded my (previous adjusted) expectations.

WTF Apple, two people have told me now that they always ship orders in the order they were received yet I've seen tons of orders that were placed after mine that have been shipped.

Just tell her that you've physically seen your friends or someone you know and so she must be lying.

It's not as simple as you've been told. The actual logic is known only to Apple but it'll be something similar to this:

Apple do ship in the order that they receive orders, but they also prioritise so that all their channels, such as on-line orders, resellers, ADC, education and various international locations are serviced simultaneously. The order stream is also broken down according to configuration. This generates a lot of "sub-sets" of customers and orders are filled in each "sub-set" in the order they were received. The upshot of this is that if you are in an over-subscribed sub-set, then you'll be waiting longer than someone in a relatively empty one.

That's just a guess, but it is an educated one...

The delivery will only take 3 days, Apple always give you longer estimates, like 10 days. Once the plane its on has landed, you will get a UPS tracking number and then it will be on its way, bear in mind its a 12 hour flight from China to the UK.

I pray and hope you are right. The frustration is killing me, as it is with many others here too. If it comes in 3 days (which means Thursday, or Friday at the latest) then I am a very happy fish .. otherwise, I will have a frustrating weekend.

I'm so frustrated, I can't imagine Apple would start sending custom orders of people who ordered after me first. I'm going to call but I know I'm going to get some idiot that just says all they know is the order should go out on the 19th like it says in the order. SOOO god damn frustrating.

What's the latest someone has ordered and had theirs shipped? I've seen the proof of a Jan 15th ordered shipped, anyone later?

I think you have to search this thread to see if anyone else from your part of the world is getting theirs too, with the same order date and specification. If so, and you've still not heard any good news on yours then I'd give Apple a call and ask to speak to a Supervisor to get you sorted out ... if they can.

Keep in mind, my household have ordered two, one late Jan., which was scheduled to ship on Feb. 19th and is now shipped .. the other (mine) ordered 2nd Feb. and it's scheduled to ship middle of March! A slight delay in ordering can cause a huge, and disproportionate, delay in delivery. Of course, I am claiming the one that comes earlier :p

Hi,
from revised order of 13 Jan my Shipment Details are
"Shipped to PETERBOROUGH, GB 17 Feb 2009
Estimated Delivery Date (Subject to change) 26 Feb 2009 (Subject to change)"
Current Delivery Status Shipment dispatched 17 Feb 2009"
BUT the tracking bit just says
"Carrier Tracking Number
In transit to final destination - carrier details to be updated shortly.
Assigned Carrier
In transit to final destination - carrier details to be updated shortly."

The Apple bod I spoke to yesterday said 5-7 days for the 'in transit' time. So all I do know is it's been dispatched BUT I've still no idea WHO it's been dispatched to or WHERE it is. AND I've suddenly become obsessive-compulsive about checking my order details-must be 7 times already!
Seems ages to the 26th & I'm just hoping Apple are doing the 'under-promise' 'over-deliver' business thing.
At least it's shipped 2 days earlier than 'Estimated Shipping' of 19th.

Obsessive-Compulsion is what most here are now suffering from .. just think of all the withdrawal syndrome we're going to get early next week, from being away from the Internet while we play with our toy :p

It appears a lot of UK orders are getting shipped which is weird because when orders were first placed UK was behind US in ship dates. I'm in Boston MA, US, shipped Jan 11th BASE model and nothing has change on my order. People IN NY and in CA have had theirs shipped with order dates after mine with upgrades. I guess the post above about batches kind of makes sense but I think my order would be a pretty clear cut case...off the assembly line and into a box.

My credit card was never authed and I can still change my shipping address and cancel my order so it seems my order is not even close to prepared.

Mine was just delivered. On the way home to pick up.

You lucky sod! Now, this post of yours is totally useless without pictures ... lots and lots and lots of pictures.

This makes a lot of sense ... and I would tend to believe that Apple do it in a structured order something very similar to what you've described here. Hence, why someone ordering on the 19th Jan. may get his / hers after someone ordering on the 21st Jan.

It's all about quota allocation.

you think????

I am located in NY, NY I placed my order on the 6th of january at 11:43am from the Education Online Store. My order still says "Prepared for Shipping" with a ship date of Feb 19th and delivery Feb 20th. Do you think it is possible that I can receive it sooner then this? Any reports of the online Apple Order Status being messed up and not up to date? Please please tell me yes. I cant wait!!!!

I don't want to be rude in asking this, or making any suggestions, but was your credit card in sufficient funds during the whole period between when you've ordered it and now? I ask, since I'd hate to see my order bumped down the priority simply because I've gone and used the wrong card, such that when Apple came to collect they'd find insufficient funds!

If that's not the case, and you are sure to be on a waiting list that's similar to many others who've got theirs coming .. ask to speak to a Supervisor or someone more senior and see if they can sort this out.

Sadly, as much as Apple is renowned for customer service ... those on the help line are very "robotic". Every time I've called about my March delivery, I get a response that is totally useless (last time was earlier today, I asked if I could expedite delivery by cancelling the matt-screen, and no reply until now).

I hope you can sort it out.
