I'm in the uk... I got mine yesterday... You may think hey he got one I didn't well I work for the NHS and as It was purchased through them, they put a hurry on things!!! My coleague and I had sat through enough delays and we went and talked to the management... They spoke to apple, and the order was there within 3 days...

2.93 Ghz
8GB
256GB SSD
Matte Screen
Mini Display to DVI adaptor (it works, suprisingly!!!)

Jack
Pics or it didn't happen...
lots of people who ordered the matte option still haven't received shipped emails... I'm surprised you got one already with SSD!

Clean Start v Migration

Hi All...

So for those of us already on a mac, moving to our uMBP replacements, whats the plan... go for a slower manual install and have a super clean machine or the easy road and let Migration Assistant do all the work, but copy all the little bits of rubbish that have accumulated over the old hard drive... ???

CLEAN INSTALL or MIGRATION... What will it be... ???

he's obviously lying, what power would one little NHS trust have over Apple? and why would someone working for the NHS need a 17" matte unibody Macbook pro with SSD drive?

What would Apple do, personally have Steve Jobs make one for him?

SSD Orders

Maybe the SSD orders are on the way. My status finally changed to Prepared for shipment. My CC has not been charged and I don't see where the available funds reflect the purchase either. I am leaving for Europe tomorrow so at least it will be here when I get back.

I have attached a picture for proof.

I'm jealous ... what was your original shipping date?

Mine is now officially waiting to get on a truck Monday morning. For those wondering what the time is like (at least to Texas) here's my FedEx time stamps (all times adjusted to central time):

There's someone in the "First Impressions" thread that's already gotten their SSD MBP (also had the matte option), so it looks like they are already arriving.

Mine has "shipped" on Feb 19 and has been "In transit" in Shangai Pudong Airport since this afternoon... I was hoping it has been on a plane all that time, instead I realized that no plane from TNT left Shangai since my order shipped.

So apparently the plane that should have been arrived at Shangai on the 19th, morning from Lieg (Belgium) is just arrived now from Singapore or some near airport.

If we are lucky, that plane should leave towards Liege at 7:30 AM from Shangai (11:30 PM UTC if I'm correct).

I've been looking this page all the afternoon, trying to make sense why my mbp wasn't in Europe yet...
http://www.tntairways.com/RealTimeAircraftSituation.html
The aircraft that should leave to Liege is the 747, and a flight to that location is scheduled accourding to this page:
http://www.flightstats.com/go/Fligh...=(3V)+TNT+Airways&airportQueryType=0&x=10&y=7

Well according to that there are no flights today or tomorrow flying to Australia or anywhere close to it. Do you this it's really showing all the flights?

My mac has been in Pudong for quite some time and Apple claim it will be here by the 24th!

I have the EXACT same time stamps (except my int'l shipment release)...and mine also arrive in Austin at 5:59 this evening. Interesting that my supposed "scan" times are IDENTICAL to yours from the time it left Shanghai at 7:37 AM.

I'm working on being able to pick mine up tomorrow...probably a 50/50 chance I'll be able to...

Me too, except to Houston.

Most likely the time stamps are the same because the packages were on the same pallet. I doubt very much they scan individual packages at each stop, they probably scan the large pallets (in some cases probably the whole flight in one swoop) and mark each individual package in that pallet with that timestamp.

My laptop just arrived in Newark, NJ. If it makes it to Long Island (my location) by tomorrow, I'm hoping to be able to pick it up. I've picked up other things at FedEx before, but I believe that was after a first delivery attempt.

I don't believe it. SSD's are at the prepared for shippin stage, nothing on matte yet. Unless this person works for Apple--I just don't believe it. I'll go read it, if I can find it.

SSD Orders

Woke up to see my Jan. 21st order at "prepared for shipment". Happened sometime within the last six hours. Still says Feb 19th so maybe that's in 2010.

I don't know, the flight shanghai-liege were also scheduled for the 19th but it didn't flew... I took this page only for reference, and I hope my MBP is on the last flight that departed from shanghai 6 hours ago...

Yeah i've been watching that. And another plane just arrived in Shanghai and hasn't left yet. I'm cut up that my package hasn't seemed to have moved in three days.

EDIT: another plane just landed and took of from China and for a moment it was heading for Australia and i was so excited but it appears to be turning towards Europe again. Sigh

Exactly my first thought, I work for the NHS as well and have not heard of any faster delivery/power it has over Apple!

That's the same dude!

Ditto.

Ok, just for fun, I saw mine finally made it to the local FEDEX sort facility; of course this is where millions of boxes are needing to be sorted and taken to a FEDEX location for dispatch.

I called FEDEX to see if I can meet up with the package at the location later today. Of course, they said it will not move until tomorrow night since deliver is set for Monday.

I can understand and if I was a company, I wouldn't mess with the later deliveries when I have Saturday deliveries today.

Looks like, again, it will be Monday before I touch it. Great, regardless.

SSD Orders

Mine finally shipped. 2.93, Glossy with SSD. Should be here Wed.

Did they give you a time on Wednesday?

FedEx says delivery the 25th for me. Mine missed the shipment out yesterday. It looks like the first SSD orders reach the buyers about the same time Wednesday.

I wrote the guy who claims to have matte and SSD delivered. He won't open up the machine to take a picture of the SSD.

He says he will take a screen shot of the profiler--I bet that will happen after the real deliveries happen and he can copy a photo someone else took--otherwise he woud have posted it already.
