Ok, this is frustrating...

go to System>display.>color>open profile>13 that will tell you :)(9C67) is a LG

Ok, thanks for the information, but what exactly is "System". Menu item? From what app? Option in a list in some program? Application in some folder? I can't seem to find "System" or "Display" anywhere. :( (I'm trying to piece the exact instructions together from several posts, but nothing seems to give a full path to get at the information everyone wants and everyone else seems to already know how to find).

Been using/programming pcs for so long (dos/windows/linux) and now i feel like a complete newb.

Thanks,

Kevin

SR = Santa Rosa chipset

well, mine is a 2.2, but what is an SR MBP? I have bus speed of 800 MHz, does that mean I have an SR? Sorry for the stupid questions:eek:

I think the SR means the new Santa Rosa chipset models. If you're 2.2 and 800MHz bus speed, you've got the newer Santa Rosa models.

In short (from what I can gather), the old models were 2.16 and 2.33 GHz where the new ones are 2.2 and 2.4 GHz. The old models supported 3 GB ram, due to chipset limitations, where the new ones (SR) will support 4 GB ram. Plus, the bus speed is now 800 MHz as you've stated.

Umm, how do you tell exactly?

I'm doing this test right now...

For the Black...

The top square is dead white.

The bottom square is kinda greyish...

For the Grey

The top is dead white

I can barely see the bottom square.

Er, do I have a yellow tint? I can't tell...

I get the same results as the above poster. The bottom square is not really yellow but it's definitely darker/greyer. Is this a viewing angle problem? I tried moving my head around but the top square is always brighter white. I have a week 25 2.4ghz with a samsung glossy screen.

Yes, I've tried that too.

For the black one,

The top square is always whiter than the bottom.

For the grey one,

The top square is perfectly white.

The bottom is barely visible, almost an outline of greyish white.

so would it be safe to say that since there's a delay with ordering online, i would get a more recent batch of mbp's rather than going to the store and purchasing on there??

i would like the latest batch... but how do i go about doing it?

i need help

my macbook pro arrived last july 12, and it is perfect, (or i thought?) no dead pixels etc..,i also haven't noticed any yellowish at the bottom of the screen until i've come across this thread, i downloaded the photos from the first page, and when i tried viewing the photos from the preview, in the grey photo, the white square is definitely brighter at the top, but the square at the bottom, i noticed a super uber little bit yellowish, it's not yellow actually, more like of a dirty white, just not as bright as the top square, the black photo also, the top square is also bright white, but at the bottom, it is somewhat like dirty white, just a super small bit of yellow, but not so, it's more of like dirty white something, to pass the test, should the squares have to be equally brighter at the top and bottom ? i have 2.4ghz, matte display, samsung, week 23.

please help me, my macbook pro is working fine, and i haven't noticed any yellowing in it, even when browsing blank white safari background, until i came across the testin gray and black photos, is there something wrong with my macbook pro? please help me analyze it....

now, after i've come across the test, i can't help but notice that there is really a very subtle yellowish gradient in my screen, it is very subtle that i didn't noticed it before, but everything seems to be normal, i don't know what to do, do i have to be bothered?

I have a samsung matte week 31, and I too had a darker bottom square and I could also notice a slight yellowing, especially in the lower left corner. So I am returning it. The new one has already been prepared for shipment.

I think it is totally unacceptable that Apple are essentially making two different versions of the mbp - the superior having LG screens. I know the statistics are not very valid, but LG seems to fare much better at these forums anyway.

I hope I get an LG screen this time, but it is really just a lottery.

I will also say that I would've probably not noticed this issue without this forum, or at least thought that it was supposed to be this way.

My 2.2 SR arrived yesterday, and cant find any yellowing, so got lucky!

It's an LG from week 33

it does seem like there's less and less complaints about this issue, maybe apple finally managed to get it sorted?

Just got mine delivered yesterday. It's week 32, LG matte, 2.2ghz. I have the same results. But I don't notice anything when doing normal things. You think a calibration will help?

I got mine delivered Yesterday and it is a week 33 with an LG screen. No Yellowing on this one (it came as a replacement for a week 31 Samsung that had the issue).

The Samsung with yellowing was also a bit grainy the LG is super white and clear of all grain

When you did this test, for the black layout, was your top square and bottom square equally as white?

Also, for the white layout, was your bottom square as white as the top one? Or did it look somewhat silverish?

Just curious.. for those who are purchasing the MBP in a store, is there a way to find out which week / screen from something written on the box? Serial #? Lot #? anything?

I have a 9C68 (Samsung) 15" SR MBP.

No grain or yellow tint issues as far as I can tell.

Edges look like they might be a bit darker but I can't tell in person (only looks that way in pictures). MBP screen looks much better than any other notebook I've owned (Compaq, HP, Sony).

hi eluzion, on the 2nd photo, do you find the bottom square darker or more dirty white than the top square? because as i look at your photo, my macbook pro test almost or should i say look the same as your photos, maybe your photo is what i'm trying to describe in my post earlier, do you think there is no problem with our mbp? and there is nothing for me to worry about? i hope you can help me because this is bugging me eversince i've come across the test....

My new replacement laptop has arrived.. Week 32, LG panel... No yellowing issue anymore... :)

Can someone tell me how to see who manufactured the screen?

Also, does Apple just switch out your computer if you're under the 14 days?
