None. This was a Mini G4 with 512 MB RAM, ever tried "working" on one of those? It was a glorified iPod charger. A maxed out 2009 Mac Mini would probably be alright though. Not exactly a workstation, but no worse than a laptop (which it pretty much is, internally).Nice story. So, how much work did you lose because Finder crashed and respawned?
We were talking OS stability, I'm assuming Finder is considered part of the OS. And what sort of foul machine have you used that made you "lose work" through an OS crash? An application might crash but where does the OS come in?
Well, naturally the basic-out-of-the-box apps aren't strictly a part of the OS but it's sort of difficult to evaluate the overall OS X experience and omit the browser. And what does Safari have to do with OS stability?
I can't help but wonder what people are doing with their machines. I only restart PCs (or Macs for that matter) when Windows Update (or Apple Software Update) require it, otherwise I just put them on standby or hibernation. Older systems like Win98, Win2K, or early XP before the various service packs would get congested if you hammered them for a few hours, but that was then...I can't talk about Vista, but XP is most certainly not stable enough. Hardly a day goes by without my being forced to restart the system. And yes, a crash is unacceptable as it kills my workflow.
