Has anyone else had a problem when sorting albums by title that any albums that start with "the" are not logically sorted by the next word? In my album view I now have a huge list of albums under T for The.....
Don't have this issue… Get Info your track in iTunes and check under Sorting if you have overridden Sort Album.

Does anyone else absolutely hate the updated music app? What happened to all of my custom artwork for some of the songs? Also, all of the songs that I have not synced to my phone, have magically appeared. I don't want to see them!

This update just sucks all around.

The updated music app is not as friendly as the old one. Altough I still have difficulties to navigate it, but I think this is a learning process to all iphone users. I must admit, I didn't know what to do when I first opened the updated app.

While in the "My Music" section of the app, look at the drop-down where you choose between Artists, Albums, etc. At the bottom of that pull-down turn ON the option "Show Music Available Offline" and only the things that are actually saved on your device will show up.

BTW, replacing the Artist, Album, etc. buttons which were at the bottom with this pull-down selector is the single-most idiotic UI decision I've seen Apple do in a long time. e.g. If I'm browsing the the "W's" in Artists and decide to browse Genres, I have to scroll all the way to the top just to get to the pull-down. Very inelegant, something I'd expect from a 3rd-rate competitor, not Apple.

Just tap the status bar, this is not a big deal imo.

Hi all

Been using the new Apple music app for a few days and wanted some help on an option that seems not to be working.

So I select an album to play from my own music library it starts to play like it should, now I want to add a different album to my track list so it will play straight after the first album. I hit the three dots and it brings up a menu and I select add to up next but it adds the whole album to the top to be played next and does not add it to the bottom of the first album I picked.

Am I doing something wrong? I can not seem to add a few albums to my play list without it adding it to the top all the time as I want to add it last

can anyone tell me if this is a bug it me.

Thanks.

You mind pointing out where this "status bar" is? I see no UI element that allows me to quickly get back to the pull-down to change from an Artist sorting to Genre sorting ... the pull-down selector is the only thing to do that, and I can't find any quick way to get back to it if you're deep into browsing a different sort option.

Tap the area at the top of the screen (where your carrier, clock and battery icons are) and it will quickly scroll to the top of any page you're looking at. Works system wide.

:D Been around a a few years. You may have to tap it twice, and it doesn't work in a few apps (Amazon, IIRC), but for the most part it does and is incredibly helpful.

That said, Music really does require too many taps overall to navigate through fairly basic functions. Seems like there could have been a more efficient design. It'll be interesting to see how it evolves from here on out.

If history is any indication, Apple won't be issuing any updates or changes for the Music App. Maybe in iOS 9 if we're lucky but don't bet on it.

Everytime Apple changes something some will hate while others will not.

Progress.
Dismissing any kind of criticism as hate is not really as clever as you might think it is.
This update is definitely not up to the standards that can be expected from Apple.
Usually, apple is very polished, very simple to use but not this update.
I mean, they have huge track record of even sacrificing big features just for the sake of usability.
And than they release this app, what a joke.
I am pretty sure this was designed by some kind of second tire team while the main team worked on iOS 9.

The is no other way to explain it.

Obviously it is not so bad that you couldn't use it but it comes close.

Be real, when has Apple released such a complicated and counterintuitive app ever before??

I never noticed this before until today but when your playing your music from your library on the new music app on your phone and you do a soft power off and then turn it on you can see your album artwork and the player on the phone (on the slide to unlock screen) yes it's always been like that I know but what I noticed and didn't on the prior music app is when the last song is finished from say the album you were listening to and you go to power back on the phone (slide to unlock screen) the music app disappears after the last song is played you now only get the back arrow, play, forward arrow and the volume bar (on the slide to unlock screen, everything else is gone. Was it like that on the older music app or has this changed?

Something else I noticed is the play button is too close to the volume slider button on the slide to unlock screen, it's almost impossible to use the slider volume on the screen because it's hits the play/pause instead of the slider volume.

Apple has it reasons. Could be marketing or whatever. I have never been fond of iTunes what so ever but have had to learn to live with it as Apple gives you no choice.

Hope they change what irritates you but if I were you, I would just get used to it.

Well, "New Musik App abolutely horrible" (the title of this thread) and the ridiculousness that ensued are not criticism. Some people made good and valid points, but the bulk of this thread has been mindless bashing.

BTW, the word "horrible" seems to be a favourite in the MR forums, maybe people need to learn to choose their language more wisely, and they'd be taken more seriously.

It is horrible. It is the worst apple app I have ever used and to be honest, being 2 year late to the game and than releasing an app that only tech geeks can really use is nothing short of sad.

This app is so complicated to use I am not even going to try to explain it to my parents or anyone else who's hobby isn't tech.

This is Apple. Why do many people have iPhones instead of android phones? Because they are simple to use.

This app isn't good at all and pretty much all tech reviewers agree.
