Yes it does. The only station that doesn't is Beats one the rest tell me that to play I have to join Apple music.

That's odd because I can use the radio and I have apple music turned off in fact all my radio stations are still there and work just like it did in 8.3

In the USA, radio doesn't require a subscription. What country are you in?

So I was checking my app usage today in settings to see how much battery was used for the new Music App. I played music from my library for about 45 mins and it shows 6% battery but underneath that it says background activity. I'm not streaming and apple music is turned off, just listening to my own music I imported from CDs to my library why is there background activity?

Have you disabled Connect?

You said Apple Music is turned off, yet you're listening to music. I'm a bit confused. If Music is not running you can't be listening. If you're listening, the Music app is working in the background, using battery.

I'm in the UK, which I guess explains it. By not subscribing I'm going to be stuck with a portion of the music app that's unusable.

That does explain it. Here is the UK version of same webpage. It's probably a licensing issue. You do get three months free to try it out, though. So why not give it a go and see if you like it?

Show apple music is turned off in settings and connect is off. I'm listening to my own music using the music app why is it using background activity?

The Music app can be used with Apple Music disabled.

I have both Apple Music and iCloud Library disabled on my iphone and iTunes. But songs from the cloud are still showing on my phone. How can i fix this?

Apple Music navigation and user interface is just horrible. One of the most complicated apps I have ever used and definitely by far the most complicated by apple. Unbelievable. Don’t think my parents are gonna be able to use this, they get around spotify just fine.

What is going on?

Exactly what i thought. I'm a happy Spotify user, and thought i'd give apple music a try, so i installed 8.4 on a 5S i don't use. I thought for sure i'd be canceling spotify. But from the get go apple music was a big fat turd. I don't think apple actually tests anything anymore. I think they just say they do, and sit around laughing at us.

Major, major, major problems today.

Genius Playlists have been disappearing from iTunes since yesterday. Album artwork went missing from the majority of my albums this morning after I made a slight change to one.

I fixed the album covers issue by removing all music from syncing, syncing, then rechecking it, and syncing everything back. And that just finished now after a hour.

*YAWN*
Same here. Not just once.

Exactly. If the slider for Apple Music is set to off the premium features should be removed, or at least "greyed out" to give a visual cue that it's not enabled for you. I am based in the UK (see a few posts up about a potential licensing issue with radio)

This new music app finally pushed me just to get a basic amp. player that just work :)
All I wan is simple, play all my music, make it easy add/ remove/ create file/ folder.
Apple is becoming Microsoft, big/ fat/ unreliable and Not easy to use :(

I actually love the For You tab, have found great playlists.

My gripes so far are:
  • If I leave an album or playlist - why can't I go back to the album?
  • If I'm playing a random song I like, why can't I hit the elipsis and choose go to artist? why do i have to search again for it?
  • Connect is a mess. I hid it under Settings. So that takes care of that.
  • Drives me nuts when i hit elipsis and see so many action options ,they need to condense that or find a more elegant way to show all that stuff.
  • Recently app crashed, erased everything, and then redownloading everything back again totally randomly. what gives?
Overall, it just feels like it's still in beta. No polish at all. Doesn't feel like Apple. I hope they get it right by the time iOS 9 comes along or I'm going back to Spotify.

After you tap on the ellipse, you can actually tap on the song name (the first option). It brings you to the album. From there you can access the artist page by tapping the artist name.

I had no idea that worked but I just tried it and it works. Another example that this interface is not intuitive. I would never know about tapping on the song name to get to the album from in random mode. Thanks

most of the time this goes to a blank unknown artists/unknown playlist screen. Can't figure out what the conditions for this are though, or for when it works. Any idea?

Great find! Totally intuitive, but thanks for pointing it out. Was driving me crazy.

Has anyone else had a problem when sorting albums by title that any albums that start with "the" are not logically sorted by the next word? In my album view I now have a huge list of albums under T for The.....
