Pretty sure those photos are fake but that doesn't mean the rumour is false.

An alternative theory is Apple planted this rumour to find out where the leaks are.

People are supposed to wear accessories that match their complexion. If there is an iWatch coming this fall, Apple might sell it in gold for warm complexions and in silver for cold complexions. Anybody interested in watches (more than in smart watches) will probably refuse to buy a watch that doesn't flatter their skin colour. If Apple is going to offer a choice of watch colours, it would makes sense that they would also offer matching phones colours. A lot of tech people won't car, but fashion people certainly will.

I'm assuming all the "Serious?!" posters haven't travelled the world very widely.:)

I agree. I think that in much of the world, gold would sell very well.

However, Apple is still fundamentally an American company where gold is somewhat out of favor, and again, gold really just doesn't fit with the Apple aesthetic. Gold is intentionally flashy. Apple is all about minimalism.

I am more likely to believe they might make a champagne color.

Oh, God this is going to be real.

My thought exactly....

Definitely not for me, but I guess more power to those who want it.

I'm WAY more interested in the 128GB rumor. I would never need a phone with that much storage, but if it means the entry level is 32 GB I'd be ecstatic!

While it's certainly not for me, I can see it being popular in some other countries. I also hope that it is only one of several color options, because I'd love an iPhone in something other than black or white. Just not gold.

And for all those that think that Apple began the day the iPhone was released, before your chorus of "Steve would never have OK'd that," I offer a history lesson...

From 9to5Mac

Curiously, the source of today’s photos says it “deliberately blurred the “Apple” logo and the words “iPhone” on the back” of the device.” It’s worth pointing out that we have no way to confirm if these are the real deal (we’ve certainly seen a lot of fakes floating around), and it’s easy to get your hands on color conversions that typically don’t include the Apple logo and other iPhone markings.

Why would they blur out the iPhone logo and text?

Maybe it is designed for Arabs :D

Racist much?

I know several Arabs and they love all things white and gold. The original comment was spot on. I have several Arab friends who will absolutely love LOVE this color!

Note for the future - Ascribing certain observable qualities to an ethnic group does not constitute racism on the part of the observer. What constitutes racism is how that information or belief makes the observer behave towards that ethnic group. See the difference?

Wow. Seems like quite a departure from Apple's typical color choices but I like it!

Though I would probably prefer a little more champagne than gold. Pictures can't do this justice. I trust they picked a nice subtle champagne/gold. Can't wait!

I'm shocked as to why some here are making excuses as to how good this looks. That's more shocking than the piss yellow color.

Whose saying it looks good? Some of us are questioning whether its accurate or are reserving judgement until the iPhone keynote.
