Horrible..

if anything like this, they should go with the champagne look of the acer laptops, that actually looks nice.

I agree. I think that in much of the world, gold would sell very well.

However, Apple is still fundamentally an American company where gold is somewhat out of favor, and again, gold really just doesn't fit with the Apple aesthetic. Gold is intentionally flashy. Apple is all about minimalism.

I am more likely to believe they might make a champagne color.

Apple is desperately seeking a larger share of the international market, and selling device that has more of an internationally preferred aesthetic is likely a prudent choice. Don't forget that they sell chrome iPods and their laptops have large glowing Apples on the back, so I'm not sure they are a subtle as you think in their design choices. If Apple refuses to cater to the international market, it will reciprocate.

Isn't that what the leaked volume buttons look like? They certainly don't look as gold as that back shell.

He gets paid by KGI Securities. You really think MacRumors is paying to fly him around and talk to supply chain people?

Given macrumor makes it's, not insubstantial, money by publishing rumors, so it's not out of the realms of possibility but as I wrote... how much does HE pay macrumors to advertise KGI Securities. Which is an investment company!

all that glitters is iPhone!

I totally want this, and yes I am really serious.

Gold with a sapphire home button. I always loved iPhones because they seemed like jewelry to me compared to other phones, especially the all glass/metal. I'm down on the gold!

It might as well be fake, since you can have your iPhone colored already… There is a company called Rarus in my country and they can do precisely that. Here you can see all the color options available, the gold one on a white iPhone look like this:
iphone5-gold-white.jpg

It's quite expensive though, I wouldn't pay them the price of an iPhone + $280 (includes their own warranty) or $225 to color my own iPhone and lose warranty…

If it's the right shade of gold, it could look really good. I hope it's nice, because I will probably go for it.

The buttons look real, but the casing photos are obviously fake. The shadows they cast are yellowish, it's obvious that they recolorized a silver colored iPhone case using Photoshop.

And they probably blurred/erased the logo and text because they are bad at Photoshop and couldn't draw a mask to prevent them from turning yellow during their colorization manipulations.

That is probably will what it will look like. The photo is a fake. The other parts leaked while could be fake look a lot more subtle and likely what it will look like. I wouldn't go near it but I suspect it will do very well in Russia, China, Middle east, Miami and Essex.

Don't know how I feel about this. Will believe it when I see it. I've been holding out for a 5S and now I'm going to struggle with which colour to buy! I was going to go with white without second thought, but I think "champagne" rather than gold would appeal to me. Dunno, I can imagine white still being more elegant. As I said, I'll judge it when I see it. Seems a bit off that they'd introduce another colour and one as random as gold. Although saying that they are set to bring out lots of colours with the iPhone 5C, maybe this is their way of expanding the colour options for what will become the 'premium' iPhone.

again, the accepted racism...against the ME.

and do you really think this is NOT for the Chinese Market? I think you do not actually understand regional tastes, and instead have fun throwing around almost-racist statements...:mad:

you acknowledge regional tastes exist and yet manage to call it racist? good one.

If this is Apple's idea of innovation they're done

So, so tired of this hot-button word. Do you honestly believe that changing the color of a device is regarded as "innovation" by the folks at Apple? They could change something as trivial as the shape of AppleTV, and there will still be idiots clammoring, "This isn't innovation! Apple can't innovate anymore! Is this their idea of innovation?" Gag me.
