You could probably spend a day or two touring this mammoth sized building. I would fly out to Cupertino just to tour it (If it were allowed).
At the moment you can't even stop by the one of the many construction entrances to take picture. Spend any more than 5 minutes there, you'll be questioned by police officers.

So you're saying I have less than five minutes to grab a picture. Thats all the time I need! Joking aside, likely it's due to trespassing and safety regulations being it's a construction project.

It's not "just" an "office" building. This is the new Apple HQ, the greatest company in the world! At least, it will give them a chance to re-earn that title.

Uh, sorry, I don't agree with any of that. It's a company and an office building.

The Mac hardware development team is in a storage closet in the basement and slowing being eased to the exit. The iPhone hardware team likely has half a floor and sufficient space to work on making the iPhone thinner. The emoji design team has two floors. The rest of the space is for tax accounting and government affairs.

No no no no no no... you are getting it wrong! At least one entire floor is dedicated to the Apple Watch band design teams!

Sadly Steve will never get to see it.

One could argue that he gazes down upon it every day. ;-)

The Mac Pro is about to be 1,100 days old and still being sold for full price. If Apple is not going to update this machine, then just go ahead and discontinue it so we can all move on already.

Though there have been GPU speed bumps, Intel hasn't released appreciably faster CPUs since then, so it's arguable as to what a new Mac Pro could bring to the table aside from Thunderbolt 3 or 10GigE, or USB-C ports all around.

Those would be great but I doubt anyone would be happy with just those changes.

60 workers to lay tiles in five months. that is a job worth doing right first time

You want a round iPhone?

If Apple's not gonna do a Echo competitor, they may as well do.... I want something round from Apple other than a building

A huge suburban campus is so last century. It's too bad Apple didn't shake it up and move to where the next generation of creatives and engineers want to be - in a thriving urban environment such as downtown SF or Oakland.

What techie really wants to live in Sunnyvale or Morgan Hill or ride a bus for 2 hours from SF?

Why does the "next generation of creatives and engineers" want to be in an "urban environment"? Why isn't it that some want to be in an urban environment and others don't want to be in an urban environment, just like it has really always been?

Can't shake the feeling that here stands our non-released products. A great product is this buildning but I hope creativity will come forth from it.

Sadly, you're most likely not far off. I say hire the Industrial Engineers behind this for the Macs. To hell with Tim, Dan, Phil, and Jony. :apple:

Most of this will be moot when San Francisco has it's next 8.0 quake. ;)

Beautiful and almost fitting end to the Steve Jobs era (and apple as we knew it). A company that use to inspire us w. advertisements ft. Newton and Ghandi now try to wow us with an advertisement featuring balloons. Nothing lasts forever.

Whenever people start building monuments to themselves, you've got trouble. I'm happy Apple has had success – I've benefitted from it's great products over the last 25 years. But lately they are losing me, and this massive effort and expense is becoming a representation for my disappointment. Less a spaceship and more of a Spruce Goose.
They have like 12,000 employees spread across rented offices around Silcon Valley. I think, that rent money is better invested in having a single campus where everybody and every team is easily accessible. Its reinvesting in the employees who work at Apple. I can't think of a better sign of gratitude. You are getting a state of the art environment to work in, beautiful campus grounds with lots of trees, landscapes. Its going to be motivating you to come to work everyday and feel privileged to be a part of a company that not only makes some of the most popular products in the industry, but also privileged you have a job and can put food on the table. When I read news stories about the severe homelessness and inequality of San Francisco (which Apple is part contributor to), it shows there is still a bigger, hidden problem there. I hope the campus location will maybe pull more of the tech workers from the Bay Area to live closer to the campus and balance things out.

Remember also, Google, Facebook and Salesforce are also building their own giant campuses. So this is not something specific to Apple. Its part of the bargaining chip. You want to sell Disney to an employee who probably has an offer from Microsoft, Oracle, Salesforce, Facebook and Google.
