Any good mockup creator should at least know enough to remove the stock YouTube app. Ok, maybe I'm being picky but whatever... do it right or don't do it at all!

I can't help but wonder if the small bezel will be a problem... I think it will need to be super light for it to work right. Which, if it DOES match the thinness of the iPod Touch then it'll be fine.

Yeah, you know the larger bezel on a ~10" iPad is useful because of the weight and since you can't get a thumb-to-finger grip on it (unless you play for the NBA...)

I think light weight, with the narrow width will allow for a decent single hand grip, and I'm sure Apple considered more bezel vs. the potential for a better grip (they of course kept the top/bottom bezels since landscape would require two hands, or one hand with better grip/leverage).

It's [potentially] a pretty smart design.

It doesn't really make sense to use a non-retina display. Apple is pushing the retina trend to all its products. Sooner or later I mean. It started with the iPhone, then the iPad, now the Macbook Pro and eventually the iMac line as well.

And considering that Apple will *probably* drop the 3GS line, ALL the iPhones being sold, are be retina. Then eventually they will drop the iPad 2, remaining the new iPad (retina) and the iPad mini (retina?).

If they also release the MacBook Pro 13" retina, it's very likely that the will eventually drop the normal MacBook Pro line next year, or all MacBook Pro = retina.

Lets see. :)

It's like an iPad, only smaller

Is it 2010 all over again?!

I always felt the iPad was a little too big and heavy. This one certainly interests me, I just hope it comes with retina and they don't put a crappy cpu/gpu inside.

I doubt it will have retina before a 2013 refresh, at the earliest. That would require a really high density display that would probably put it back at the same price points as the larger iPad.

SERIOUSLY?

So, now we all know everything what Apple is going to introduce tomorrow and next month? For real? What's going on with Apple?

Is this is true, then I think they need to do App Stores by devices. It will get to confused to buy an app for 3 different resolutions.

Why 4:3 when aren't they moving the iPhone away from 4:3 to ~16:9?

Or why not 22:17 (letter), 10:7 (perfect), 1:1 (equal), or anything else? 4:3 (TV) is the standard people have been viewing most on their TV sets over the past 60 years, so why not continue. Constantly changing formats is starting to drive people crazy, especially me.

If Google and Amazon are selling their tablets at cost (or a loss even) there's no way Apple would sell this for $199. If they did it would have a crappy display and internals. I would expect maybe $249 if there's no retina display and $299 or more if it's basically a smaller version of the current iPad.

4:3 is better for tablets, unless you plan to use it for nothing but movies. An iPhone is not just a small iPad, and vice versa.

Will people be able to use it as a phone? As if so it could work as a Samsung/Android killer.

Congratulations for having the worst idea in this thread.

Grab a DVD case and hold that... It is the same size of the rumored iPad mini but think about the case being twice as thick as the iPad mini would be. ;-) I am going to be selling my iPad 1 to get this if it is announced tomorrow!!

Thanks for the comparison!

iPad 3 for iPad mini retina

I would sell my iPad 3 in a *heartbeat* if this was retina. But I can't go back to non-retina display on a tablet, no way. I'm a little surprised they'd build this w/o the retina... retina even on MacBook Pros now? I thought it was becoming the norm, certainly for their mobile offerings.

This think looks quite awesome. I might be selling my iPad 3 if the price is right...(<=$299).

My main concern is how small the on screen keyboard will be. Certainly it will be better for thumb typing in portrait, but I don't know if my three finger touch typing will work on the smaller screen (I use all fingers for a normal keyboard, but on iPad I find it easier/faster to drop my pinky...probably because I can't rest my hands on the keys.)
