i would kick steve job's ass if all he did was update the ram to 512 and put 64 megs of video ram and that's it.

The rebate says: "This offer is not valid w/ the purchase of used equipment, reconditioned equipment, demonstration units, or refurbished equipment."

So I guess it just depends under which heading Apple would choose to place the current models.

You should be able to get the old models from your local Apple store at a discount and these should qualify while they last.

But I'd bet that the online store will stick them in the refurb section which would not qualify.

I guess if you think you want the cheaper ones, you better go to the Apple store within a day or two and get the discounted one.

Knowing Apple, I'd say $100 - $200.

I'd be real suprised to see $200 honestly. I guess if it was $200 that might be enough to make me pounce on one.

Last April when Apple released the iBook and PB together, I *thought* the drop on the iBooks was something like $50.

Actually, that's excatly what I was hoping for...plus at LEAST a 40GB HDD standard.

I would be VERY surpirised at $200 off. The highest I can see is $100....MAYBE $125, but I highly doubt it.

My powerbook is everything i could have every hoped for and more...and with the apple education i got 300 bucks off and a free ipod mini....its the greatest thing ever :D

good rumours, thee mesiash for thö pipl is upcoming from the camp-usa of APLE!1!1 :p

What? Jesus is coming to CompUSA? I hope he brings iBooks.

Post coherently or go home.

This topic is basically becoming a line from "Spaceballs: The Movie." The scene I'm thinking of is when they're findind shelter and Lonestarr says, "One more dune to go." Then Barf says, "No, you said that three dunes ago." Replace "dunes" with "Tuesdays" and voila! :D BTW, I too am anxiously waiting the updates.

Gzus ppl, stop acting so grave-seriously. I'm getting tired of the f***ing waiting as well, and this current computer hums like a horny fighterplane or something... :D

Oh yeah, I forgot I'm the only atheist here and am not supposed to make funny connections to Jesus about anything. Sorry!

I'm not even going to buy an iBook seeing as I already have the perfect machine for me but I am anxiously waiting for the updates too!

On the Canadian Apple homepage, the ibook use to read 5-7 business days, now it read 3-5. So, either, there is an update this tuesday or canada was once really low on stock and they seem to be getting more now.

CAR ANALOGY WARNING! THE FOLLOWING TEXT CONTAINS CAR ANALOGIES!

ibook = older Japanese car, does everything you need it to do with very little trouble, and gets great gas mileage; powerbook = fancy italian sports car, goes really fast, handles like a dream, but sacrifices fuel economy and reliability.

Actually, the iBook is more like a new Ford than and old Honda -- unless you buy used. In fact, at the 12" size (which is directly comparable), the better car analogy is with the Ford Five Hundred and the Volvo S80; the Volvo is slightly smaller and fancier with a few more options, but they're both put out by the same manufacturer and yet are more different than nameplate engineering.

I wish that the new iBooks are able to support Core Image. That'd allow us to get that ripple effect in Dashboard! I know many people find that overrated, but i love it. I never get tired of tinkering with that ripple effect at the Apple Store. Way cool.

Apple Store is being updated right now... I wonder what's happening! :D

New iBooks anyone? ;)

You mean you do it as a kind of game, or do you actually find it useful to constantly add and remove widgets from the dashboard?

I wonder if they're doing some pre-Tuesday maintenance. Make sure everything's ready for the big day?

Noticed it was down. Mentioned it in the other thread. Do you guys really think they'll update tomorrow? I'm not even in the market for a new iBook, but I'm excited. God I'm such a geek.
