New Powerbooks and iBooks Next Tuesday?

No clue. Just some crazy speculation on my part. I sort of doubt we'd see an update tomorrow. But if it happens, I'll be all over it. If there is a form factor change, I may want to go check things out at the Apple store first.
 
I've got my brother's Mastercard ready too! I'll be buying the new iBooks (for another sibling). But this couldn't come at a better time (if true), university resumes tomorrow! :)
 
I'm just wondering if I should just go to bed. I mean I'm 92% certain there will be no update. But the sign says they'll be back within the hour. Within the hour can't be that long can it :) ?
 
i'm in the same boat...i really want to be surprised, but the reasoning side of my brain (as much as is possible at this hour) is telling me that there won't be an actual update...maybe i should just go to sleep, but i can't...

well we have been dissappointed so many times waiting for the ibooks only to see the imacs and then ipods updated... but i think its time! its only an hour.... u mite as well hang around..... play solitaire or something or think of ways top raise the cash to buy one... lol
 
I think I'll leave you fools to your waiting. I'm off to bed hopefully to awake to some new iBooks. Have fun.
 
true. if the update is really happening at least we'll be among a relatively small few up at this time to know about it...haha

and no, no money at all to buy a new one if it appears. i just spent a lot replacing my stolen 3G 20gb iPod with a 30gb photo about a month ago...glad i got a 30gb before they axed it, it was such a good deal, especially with the edu discount...

Or, if you stopped and thought for a moment, you would realize that more than half the world is up and about at this moment (like here, where it's 10:41 AM).

being "awake" at 445AM = not thinking at my brightest... sorry for the america-centric logic.
 
The "hour" should be just about up, eh? Or maybe Apple's site doesn't expect people to take their words so literally?

i think its been more than 1 hour.... lol, yes im counting. hehe... but it feels so much longer when u have already been waiting months.... fingers crossed they are actually ibook updates... :confused:

Do you really think that an iBook update will make the news? Sure it's important for us but not for news agencies. Something like the release of Tiger gets a mention, not a bump to a laptop line.

I agree, it will be really cool, but I doubt you'll be reading about it on the front page of any newspaper technology section anytime soon...but hopefully tuesday will be the day none the less :eek:

Actually, I that's kind of how I found out about the PowerMac update. I saw some headline that said Apple updates PowerMacs.... It was online (on the CNN frontpage as I recall) though, and I think that may be part of the distinction you're making.
 
Since it is so widely reported that new hardware is coming and that the itunes/motorola phone is also going to be coming very soon, do you think that perhaps the annoucement could come tomorrow (monday)? Really, what places Tuesday as any more important, especially since apple pages have been going down and what not. Please kick off my week on a happy note. OF it's not released tomorrow, i hope there is new rumours suggeseting what to expect.

It just seems like Apple hasintroduced most of their updated on Tusday. There is still a good chance that the iBooks will be updated tomorrow. I'm hoping as soon as possible!!

I've been a silent daily reader of macrumors threads for the past 6 months and I finally thought it was time that I get involved. I'm in the same situation as every college student on this forum. I need to make the switch by buying an Apple notebook. I have put it on for too long. Back in the days of Mac OS 8 and 9, my family used macs but I was young and all I wanted was to play all video games, something macs could not provide, so I made an awful decision and bought a Dell. This computer has been my friend throughout high school, but it has always bothered me that I did not have the best. XP is most definitley not the best. I want the best. I want Mac OS X. So it's time to switch. As a result, I am stuck here bothered by the 3 problems that every other mac fanatic in my position is dealing with. ibook or powerbook, 12 inch or 15 inch, and of course should I wait for uptates or take advantage of the Student Union. All of this with a $2,000 budget. I dont expect any answers to this post becuase there really are few answers. This is one of the most common problems for a macrumors visitor to be plagued with. I just wanted you all to know that I'm here, I've been here, and I'm listening.

Why do people keep saying that? If you look at the history of both iBooks and Powerbooks, they have only been updated on a Tuesday once, every other time was either a Monday or a Wednesday. I know that doesn't fit the thread, but it's true.
