Hey, What can I say? I got my iMac for $1,800. I'm just waiting to arrive. hehehehe.

Not bad...

It's no G5, as I'm sure everyone will point out... but the low end, I believe dropped $100... iMac's still a great deal (esp the $1799)... but a $1599 Tower is as well if you want the expandability/ monitor support.

hmmmm.....

Well, its a start. I think im gonna hold out a little bit though. Would be a nice upgrade for me, but I kinda feel like the G5's are around the corner. hmmmm...I guess I'll wait and see. If theyre not around by NY I'll have to go with a G4 though. cant wait forever.

oh ..come on, not you, eyelikeart ... let's be happy for the time being .... these machine are great ...

btw ... i will not be waiting for the G5 .. because i (almost) never buy first generation architectures .... the 933mhz is mine!

MOT delivers the goods

Motorola has now delivered the goods.

Now will you all quit your belly-aching.

BTW, I'm just kidding. No flames please.

i guess its time to say fare thee well to the powermac g4s.

this is such a small quiet update, im really gonna guess this is the last g4 powermac line. problem is, this gives apple a good reason to squeeze another 6-9 months out of it.

im gonna stay out of g5-arrival speculation.

this is quite a bummer for me, i just bought a g4 733 for $1700 15 days ago. now the low end is -$100, 24x cd burner, and 256 ram, thats double for 2 things over what i just bought for more money.

will apple do anything to make me happy? i want that 24x cd-r, mine came with a 12x (which really isn't that great) and only 128 of memory? could i get some money back, or maybe an upgrade?!?

what do you guys think?

More

Did you notice that ALL the new G4's have Dual-Display video cards.

Well, don't you naysayers look stupid now.

Under $3k for a dual 1 GHz with a superdrive and GeForce4.

And the top end model has two 80 gig drives and max RAM.

Geeze. Apple is really sticking it to the poor barely-getting-buy content producer eh? Now do you know why we have Maya? Think Mac OS X will run slow on it?

Apple kicks it. Anyone who doesn't like it can go buy an Athlon and be quiet.

And this is not even the mythical G5 (wait till second half of this year) with any of the new I/O.

Great.

A solid upgrade and they finally get good graphics cards as standard.

Is it ATA 100/133 for the hard drives? I've not seen the official spec's yet.

And

they extended the Apple Display Rebate and changed it

$100 off a 15"
$300 off a 17"
$500 off a 22"

it's not based on which computer you buy just the monitor. this rebate was extended thru March 31st

dual 1ghz?

btw ... maybe a'll buy me even a dual ...

does any one of you superduperusers know if the noise-level of a dual processor machine is much highr than a single processor ... i thought that there was only one fan also for duals ...

i'm a noize freak ...

"Problem is" ???

I'm amused by the inability of certain folks to ever be satisfied.

blakespot

Good news...

While I can hardly agree with the statement "Motorola has finally delivered the goods", I do find it a full step in the right direction. Not just because Apple finally hit 1ghz, but because Apple actually increased speeds & improved video cards, but also dropped the prices across the board. About damn time!

If I hadn't just bought my G4/800DP in August, I'd be all over the $2999 1ghz/DP. Very sweet...

Its a real shame we are forced to fork out for a superdrive on the 933Mhz --> 1Ghz. I was relying on being able to get a DVD/CDRW drive instead. Oh well, looks like I will have to go for the 800Mhz version instead.

time

I think the best news of all is that if you order a new G4 today it ships in 1-3 days. no end of February BS

let me clear this up....

I'm not giving into the "ok now what's next" attitude that many of here to....

I'm simply stating that there is going to be something major coming about later on from this...there was (and still is) so much speculation circling the G5....I guess I was attempting to give the ones hungry for it something to chew on for a little while....

fueling the fire if u will...

he he he....
