That looks nice, but I don't love it. The consistent bezel around the entire screen (mainly the thickness of the bezel on the sides) almost makes me feel like I'm peeking through a window or something. Plenty of you may disagree and that's fine.
I held a Galaxy S8 the other day and I love how the screen slightly flowed off the sides of the device. The curved screen wasn't as dramatic as the Galaxy S7 Edge. I hope that Apple pursues a route similar to Samsung in that regard.
I think the camera and the speaker won' t be behind the coverglass of the screen, but that there will be holes in the coverglass. Less clean, but more likely.
I have zero doubts Apple will make this thing look stunning! September can't come soon enough!
You know, I was holding one too and, even though it looks nice i think (and hope) Apple is thinking the way I was which is;
WE NEED A MINIMAL BEZEL TO AVOID COVERING THE SCREEN WITH OUR FINGERS!!!
I mean, we need to HOLD the phone right? there is no comfortable way to hold it without covering a tiny bith of the sides, and covering the SCREEN (samsung case) with my own fingers is ANNOYING.
I THINK APPLE (the generally user experience expert) is catching this while ago.
PLUS, the curved display ALWAYS provoques a reflect in that curve that is also not convenient to the purpose of seeing a continuous perfect screen!
Sorry, you are wrong.
Lool at the screen dimensions of the 5.8 inch galaxy s8 , over here:
https://www.sven.de/dpi/
It will fit the 6s/7
it isn' t about things being apple like, it is about technical possibilities and mass production. A behind screen front camera that also has a new advanced 3d sensor? No, can' t see that to happen in the next 6 months, just like the in-screen touchid, etc.That doesn't sound very Apple like but neither does protruding camera, so who knows.
Why is it any different than the current layout, beside orientation? You're supposed to take pictures/video in landscape format, not portrait (thanks selfies). Wouldn't it make more sense to have the sensors side by side for that orientation?The vertical camera looks absolutely hideous!
Said everyone regarding the iPhone 7 and look how that turned out.
A render has no basis in reality until the product is released.
That just makes no sense. They're not rotating the sensors themselves they are just reshuffling the placement. Also you would still be able to shoot portrait video, there is no way to ban it, maybe through software ... Just think about it, the sensors are like rectangles, they are basically placed liked the screen itself, vertically. So when you hold it upright the image fills the screen. If they rotate the sensors then the image in the camera app would only fill the center of the screen (for example like when you are watcinhg a video by holding the phone in portrait mode). Thats not really practical or logical.I think the purpose of the vertical camera to to finally end the disease known as VVS (Vertical Video Syndrome). My guess is that in addition to rotating the pair of lenses, the lens itself is also rotated 90 degrees.
Practically all regular users take videos in Portrait mode which is just a bad, bad idea. When you move the video to your TV it looks like a joke. That's why all first person video news reports look so silly and the networks have to add that moving background.
If the camera is landscape when you hold your phone in portrait mode, you solved that problem. The UI will need to indicate that but it shouldn't be too hard. Video will be shown in landscape but smaller during recording. People who used to shoot in landscape will be able to accommodate (It is definitely easier to hold the phone in portrait mode while filming).
I personally didn't have much of an issue with my fingers hands covering the screen. Especially since when I'm holding my phones, I tend to let the phone rest on my palm and my fingers are simply there to make sure it doesn't slide away. My palm does most of the work. YMMV, though.You know, I was holding one too and, even though it looks nice i think (and hope) Apple is thinking the way I was which is;

LOL. But not into spell checking.I'm into the ipohone, by the Apple Comapny
When the horizontal dual camera first appeared, people were mocking it because it looked like Bender from Futurama.The vertical camera looks absolutely hideous!
Yeah, dunno why, but TouchID on the back reminds me of ass wiping.
I kind of wish they would take a chance and go with a different form factor altogether like the Samsung S8. If you haven't seen and held one in the flesh, I highly recommend it. It is by far the most beautiful phone out right now. Samsung has outdesigned Apple in every way with that phone. Did I mention it still has a headphone jack?
I always find such viewpoint quite remarkable in the lack of vision, and old mindset of technology.
Tell me, You know about sheet of paper yes? And a piece of Canvas yes?
You know you COULD write up to the very very edge of a sheet of people, but people don't.
You COULD paint every time to the edge and around the corners/sides of a canvas, but you don't have to.
Just stop and think about this for one moment please.
Stop, Think, and consider.....
Just because a surface can display something, be it paper, canvas, or even a screen at every single point on it, there is no need for it to be used that way.
Imagine for one moment a technology where the whole phone was a single slab, and every point over the entire point on that slab COULD be used to display something.
Just like a piece or wood or a slab of stone could have markings anywhere on it's surface.
So you make such a phone, it's all screen everywhere.
THEN under software control you can decide where you wish to display items on it's surface.
Please, try and think beyond past technology where there hard to be a physical boarder and there had to be a screen that was totally used at all times.
You don't need a bezel, Screen can be bezel if the software chooses it to be.
And the rendering next to it says "Please press the fingerprint recognition area to unlock"The bottom Chinese characters where it has the word "Home" translates to "Front face without Home key"
