People are underestimating how much demand there is going to be for these new iPhones. I'm also expecting some unexpected surprises at the iPhone event that really will drive people to upgrade.

There is no doubt these will be the best iPhones Apple has ever made, and no doubt I will be among the first in line to order both models as soon as pre-ordering begins.

Actually, there is some doubt. For those of us who highly value the headphone jack, it is a downgrade from its predecessor in at least that respect. It's up to Apple to offer something so compelling that it will make up for this omission.

Good, I prefer them not to make too many variations of a single product. 2 is enough with the 4 inch one as an extra.

It's soooo funny that people think Apple makes these decisions last minute lmao. Apple probably decided SEVERAL months ago that the iPhone would have a dual lens camera. I'm pretty sure the phones are also being mass produced as we speak...

I hope theres no 'Pro'. Nothing is more frustrating when all 3 phones (if the pro actually existed) have different specs and added features. The OIS on the plus wasn't that much of a big deal but if rumours are true, the 7 won't get dual lens, smart connector and god knows what else. So lets keep it at 7 and 7 plus :)

iPhone Pro, iPad Pro but still not a true Mac Pro machine from Apple. What a joke.

I'm waiting for the kicker. There has to be a kicker. There has to be something about this phone or a related tech area that's exciting. I refuse to believe Apple would screw us like this this time around.

Just curious, has every iPhone had something exciting for you? If so, I'm sure this one will have to have SOMETHING you like...

I don't get why people still believe in the rumors of this "iPhone 7".

I'd save 7 for the glass iPhone in 2017 and call these iPhone 6x and 6x plus. X is a cool letter and it could be marketed as a crystallisation of the 6 design and engineering.

I think the numbering will be dropped on next years version, if indeed it's the "massive" upgrade were all hoping and hyping for. Maybe The New IPhone, or IPhone Anniversary Edition. Numbers might resume after that.

Hey....neat I just became an analyst.

It doesn't "confirm" anything. Get your clickbaity titles out of here MR.
Yeah....if it were WSJ or Bloomberg I'd consider it confirmation. Not quite from this source. 90% maybe.

??? Aside from base storage, what was so wrong with the iPhone 6S?

The absolutely TIRED form factor, for sure. Just look at it side by side with a Note 7.

Ultimately, our beloved tech company is profit driven, much like all other companies and they have to go where the money is. I'm sure they won't drop the mac pro lineup but for a desktop power machine, upgrading to the latest CPU lineup might not make sense as the performance increase is not significant and power efficiency is almost completely irrelevant.
I would like to have a mac pro with upgradeable components too but less and less of us need that now days. The market is completely different then 10 years ago.

I will probably grab a new iPhone because the screen quality of my SE is pretty lame. It looks blend after playing with the iPad or 6S for a few minutes. Looks even lamer after holding my Galaxy S6 edge for a few minutes. No color depth at all.

Wake me when I can buy a USB-C cable at 7-11 at 3AM, the way I can buy a Lightning cable now.

This is a really good point.

Everyone hates on Apple for using their proprietary standard, but it has been more stable than anything USB. In the time Apple used just 2 connectors, the 30-pin dock connector and the lightning connector, other phones went through the following:
- Proprietary for each phone model (e.g., Nokia Pop-Port, Palm TX)
- Various standard coaxial power connectors
- USB Mini
- USB Micro
- USB3 Micro
- USB3 Type C
What will USB come up with in two years? USB3.5 Type C mini! It's even mini-er!

To be fair, Apple - lightning /dock connector - cables have a tendency to break when you look at them the wrong way... Due Apple's implementation of a horrid strain relief... Or rather the lack of it.

Completely unintended, design-wise, I know... But it's a nice and steady source of income for Cupertino's fountain of innovation.

Yeah. Good one. Why are you still here?

Why so salty? Cheer up, buttercup.

It's kind of interesting how Apple customers are being divided over the direction Apple has taken with the iPhone. You have a sizeable group complaining about a lack of development/innovation, and an equally vocal group arguing those complaints are either unfounded or don't matter.

This would be an interesting case study for brand loyalty, lol.

Honestly, this crap does not deserve the new number.

Oh, boy, if the S7 Edge could run iOS 10...

I find it odd that you would call it crap before it's even announced then bring up the S7 Edge as if that brought some amazing innovations. You're not the only one. I'm really not sure where people are getting this notion that Galaxy phones brought so much innovation?

Heck, their brand new Note 7 isn't even on par with the year old 6S in performance in many areas...

We are beating this lack of iPhone to death. Excited to hear more about the Apple Watch. I personally passed on last year's model (too dependent on iPhone for exercise) so will actually be looking forward to this release.

Not referring to the 6S, referring to the extremely small steps forward by the 7.

What if it's like the iPhone 5? Refined in every aspect, but nothing big like Apple Pay/Siri etc?
This would be a best case scenario. Across-the-board refinement. Not sure if that's what we're going to get, however.

Oh, I don't talk about performance, that's why I mentioned iOS 10 - who likes TouchWiz? Yuck!

I was talking design-wise, but God forbid you have an opinion here

I have never had a single lightning cable or connector break, Apple or otherwise. I only had one 30-pin dock connector fray at the plug. And I had one mag-safe connector fray and short at the plug. Prior to that I had a failure of every one of my PowerBook charging pucks.

There's lots of annectdotal evidence about how terrible Lightning connectors are, without any supporting evidence about how they were used and/or abused. But I've yet to see any kind of study that provides a reasonable sample to indicate anything more than manufacturing defects and abuse by customers.

Regardless, it's not a flaw with Lightning, and USB-C could just as easily suffer from similar issues. And the fact that 7-11 sells Lightning cables is certainly no proof of their inferiority either, since they also sell micro USB cables as well.
