Ummmm, am I the only only who thinks that Lion will be released on friday of next week? I mean, regardless of it being Friday for Panther, Tiger, and Leopard, all of the OS releases were in the week of 2_th.

Friday it could be!!

I actually think friday is a possibility. There has been talk of stores opening extended hours and black covers over some store displays.

Considering the most recent releases have been on a friday and the quarterly sales report is on tuesday, this weekend would be the one....

Has anyone been able to go down to the stores to get some photos?

Yeah, you're most likely right because they probably need more time to approve some of the new lion apps for the app store.
 
I know that there's a pattern of OS X getting released on Fridays, but you have to stop and consider that there are still two Fridays left in this month besides today.

For Lion to come out now would be one of the most stealthy releases ever conducted in history. Most Apple stores haven't undergone any of the supposed changes they were going to, and it's already a couple of hours until the start of the business day.

Unless they're going to pull some weird crap where Apple tries to show off how easy it is to ugprade Lion by simultaneously making all showroom machines launch the Mac App store and perform a realtime upgrade infront of customers eyes, I don't see anything happening today. :D

They could have updated them over night.... Also, it would make more sense for Apple to release it today because of the quarterly sales report that is on Tuesday, it would just look nice for them. :)

Also, just to point out the obvious: Apple would never ever launch Lion via Mac App Store to customers without first launching some sort of media campaign in their stores. They aren't going to roll something out right in the middle of the day. The article even admits that customers can wait a few extra days if they've been waiting for months already - so where do they get the logic that since Lion is supposedly finalized by marketing/engineering that it must be rushed out the same day? Baseless b/s.
