Also, just to point out the obvious: Apple would never ever launch Lion via Mac App Store to customers without first launching some sort of media campaign in their stores. They aren't going to roll something out right in the middle of the day. The article even admits that customers can wait a few extra days if they've been waiting for months already - so where do they get the logic that since Lion is supposedly finalized by marketing/engineering that it must be rushed out the same day? Baseless b/s.

Yeah I know, just grabbing at straws...

Analysts say that in order to increase its profit margins, Apple will officially release the new OS X Lion software available for purchase before it reports its third quarter earnings next Tuesday?

If we take this statement into account, they are releasing it today.

I hope it's today too, so I'll be able to downlaod it on super fast broadband.:)

I used to have at&t DSL at 1.5mbps, but I switched to Comcast and now I get 12mbps (but really 20mbps with PowerBoost).

I feel bad for the people at 1.5mbps...it's going to take so long to download it's going to ruin the fun of buying it.

BTW the first Time Machine backup after upgrading to Lion will be pretty big.

For those saying the Notify Me page not working, do try out a different browser first ;) Out of curiosity, anyone still hoping and waiting for a release today ? :p

I'm waiting just in case. Then I'll hold off until Monday.

If it's not today (considering the overnighted supplies at the store, the fact that it's before their quarter ends, and the fact that previous OSs were released on a Friday), then it's really anyone's guess.

Personally I am happy to wait for lion and I am patient to wait. I don't care when apple launches lion because I have lots of questions to ask before i can proceed with it. I reside in Darwin, Australia.

My system is a IMac desktop bought in 2009 with Intel dual core 2, with 2 gb ram and 640 gb hard drive and it already have 32 bit snow leopard 10.6.8 installed, and i am on ADSL 2+ internet plan with 200 gb download a month is it good enough?

Is it true or false that Lion is a 64 bit operating system only, or both 32 and 64 bit?

If lion is a 64 bit operating system only can i upgrade from 32 bit snow leopard to lion or must i do a clean install?

During downloading lion through app store does the download resume after stopping it download or must i start all over again?

I want to be very sure before i upgrade because if i am not sure i could run in big problems.

I tried on both Safari and Firefox. In Safari the area remains blank. In Firefox, I got an error message in the iframe.

While I'm not certain that this is indicative of an imminent launch, it does provide hope to all of us that have been waiting. Keeping my fingers crossed that it comes out today!

It's about 4gb in size, so yes.

64 bit only.

You can upgrade, the installer will do all the work for you.

As far as I am aware (and I'm sure someone else will confirm) you can just resume if you connection gets disrupted or you need to stop it.

Have a read of the Lion preview. In terms of installation, you're not going to see many (if any) problems. The only "recommendation" I would make to you is to upgrade your RAM to 4gb for a smoother system.

I hope it releases today, I'd quite like to install it tomorrow. :)

I agree with the person who mentioned an announcement/release at 2pm EST/11am PST :)

Yea. I have a 2007 iMac with a 2.4 Core 2 Duo, and I just ordered a 4GB RAM Upgrade kit from Crucial with $30 Saturday delivery because of Lion possibly releasing Today or next week. I want 4GB RAM when I install Lion. $80 for Ram with Sat. Delivery

i agree today is most likely, being cupertino is 8hrs behind us here in the UK so if it was announced at 11am would be 7pm here.

personally i think it will be announced at 11am pst and available for download at 5pm pst. so 7pm here and 1am tomo morning for download
