I bet that the Samsung marketing department come straight to this forum whenever they put out bait like this. They always get the crazy overly emotional fan boy reaction they hope for.

This whole topic reminds me of this:

I can understand if you want to rip on your customer but I really don't understand how these ads will sell more Samsung devices.

Poor advert, but the Apple Stream was god-awful. On the lucky times reloading it would bring the video up it was at the wrong point, or without audio, or with some crazy Chinese translator.

It was an avant garde comedy and it was a mess.

I watch E3 streams which are the biggest in the games business and they've never had problems like that before.

Getting rid of Quicktime is long past due. It is like they don't realize HTML5 exists or even Flash which is 100 times better at streaming video.

Uhh-uh... Just like live-streaming you big product launch, targeted to sway millions of customers from your competition, but only making the stream viewable by those who already have your products?

There are always the live blogs from engadget, macrumors and cultofmac plus other media companies like cnn to provide you with the news. The live-streaming only to apple products is a premium - something that apple product owners look forward to. But the video is always available for everyone to watch after.

Don't look now but your lack of knowledge is shining bright.

Phone 6 is circa 2012, that's how far behind Android they are.

Yeah, this annoys me as I really want an iPhone. But I also don't want to spend £700 on a phone that's already old. I keep waiting for the big rebirth of the iPhone but considering the next iPhone will be a minor update to the 6... I've got at least 2 years before I can upgrade.

I can't swap to Android because I like how integrated iOS and OSX are.

That's incentive to buy one's product, not insulting potential customers. But I agree with that sentiment though. Apple should have made the stream available on all platforms.

Yes, they are funny. However, is the point that you can buy an extra battery for their phone? I believe the extra battery for the latest Samsung galaxy is $50. You can get a battery-extending case for the iPhone for a similar amount. Not sure what the advantage is for Samsung. It still costs money to extend your battery life.

While that is true i think the ad is pointing out the "super power saving mode" which actually works really well.

I will say one thing for certain: if there ever comes a day when I would consider non-Apple options in areas in which Samsung competes, I will avoid Samsung at all costs. At first the mockery in the ads was tolerable if not mildly amusing. It reminded me a bit of the "I'm a Mac, I'm a PC" ads, though not nearly as clever or tasteful, which isn't shocking at all. But realistically, it can be a bit fun to poke fun at your competition, and both sides can occasionally have a laugh at it.

But at this point, it's so tasteless and overwrought and utterly obnoxious that what little tolerance I had for Samsung as a company has completely disappeared. They have reduced themselves to obnoxious copycats in my mind at this point, and absolutely worst of all, DESPERATE.

Nothing reeks like desperation.

When was the last time we saw a "I'm a Mac, I'm a PC" ad?

...?

Exactly.

Samsung has learned a few tricks from Apple, but one trick they still haven't come close to learning is when to stop.

Totally agree. I have friends who ask me for advice on Android I always steer them to HTC or Motorola. I'll never send them to Samsung.

Is "old" for you based purely on physical specs even though it'll undoubtedly benchmark the same or better than current flagships?

I just dont get the mentality of specs being the end all be all

Nice way to put it

I agree, they are self-destructive attacks born of desperation in a vain attempt to save a dying empire.

Is Samsung/Android dying? I could swear I've seen articles indicating that claim Android has overtaken iOS in terms of users. And don't Apple use Samsung for device components too?

I'm not an Apple fanboy, nor am I interested in Samsung or Android so I don't know all the details :).

Ditto here. Never in a million years would I recommend Samsung. Its just sad that because of their ad budget that samsung pretty much IS android...

Ok, yes, I was annoyed that the event stream was an utter failure. What I *do* recognize, however, is that no company is generally prepared for the amount of people that *want* to watch Apple's events. In other words, Samsung (and many others companies) *wish* they could have streaming problems, because then it suggests that people give a **** about what they have to show/say.

OT: As for the :apple:Watch being "gimmicky," seems odd that people with Samsung phones -- the ones where you magically wave your finger in front of the camera to "sort of" scroll the screen -- don't have the right to make fun of anything gimmicky.

All this commercial does is make me want one of those sexy cinema displays.

Samesung you're so trashy. Just give up.

Yeah and all those people must have magically have caused that Chinese lady to spoil the audio!

Haha, very good point. Still, it seems odd that Samsung would acknowledge Apple's website crashing off the net completely because of the interest in the company.

It's not just specs, it's features. But of course specs matter. 1gb isn't enough memory. It's already a pain having apps "reboot" when starting them up on my iPad... which is a hit or miss affair even when dealing with the same apps.

Specs matter immensely for user experience.
Everything else is good enough, spec wise (not feature wise) on the new iPhone except the awful amount of memory.

Having worked in advertising for the past 25 years I can assure you that, while yes they are youtube videos, they are still paid-for advertisements.

The ads cost money to produce. It cost them nothing to post on their website. Their intention in doing so - is to make them go viral via news sites and social networking.

Having about the same amount of time in Advertising, Marketing and PR, I can assure you of that :)

I agree that specs can be important but some here make it sound like the iPhone are laggy unworkable messes when that's far from the truth. That's why I never understand the spec thing. Like I said it often benchmarks better than phones with double or triple the specs.

Features, ok. What missing features on the 6 make it old?
