Please don't call it a tablet, or I'll consider cancelling my order. I am already scared enough that at some point, the 6 Plus will break my weak 3.5 inch-trained wrist when I try to lift it. ;)

Whoops! I meant PHABLET! :D The 6 Plus will probably break my arm. Cant wait!

Wow, how stupid is Samsung? This commercial will have the opposite reaction:

"Apple finally made a 5.5" iPhone?! Now I can finally ditch my Galaxy."

First of all I don't think making a larger phone is copying. Otherwise Mercedes would copy BMW for having a three door car..

Second, Apple always mentioned a bigger screen. They also said not making one until they found a battery and display that matches up the quality Apple requires in their products.

Third, Apple was not going after Samsung with a larger screen. The market research pointed out that people wanted larger screens. I think that seems logic to actually make one. But again, only when it could live up to the quality they require.

I think that when you can only point out what the 'weaknesses' are in other companies products and not shine your own strengths. There is clearly something wrong with your own product.

Good ad, stirs controversy.

Otherwise, here's a reality check :

Samsung Note 4 is hands on better than the iPhone 6 plus for the hardware. Exception being the finger sensor. And it has a bigger screen while being not as large.

Design-wise, iPhone 6 plus rules of course. Not a surprise, given the premium price !

So if you're mostly into design and appereance and hype, you'll go with iPhone. If you're more into hardware specs, and prefer a screen that has more pixels and contrast, you'll go with the Samsung.

And for the phone, I don't see any noticeable difference between iOS and Android. The latter gives you better flexibility.

I have an iPhone 5, I will switch to Samsung in October. That's called not being a sheep. But I will keep my iMac over any PC forever.

639 comments on a Samsung ad...give the people what they need MacRumors!
This article is click bait, nothing to see here. MacRumors must be short on ad cash this week...

I'd like to see Apple face some serious competition, but companies that are too lazy to write their own software don't stand a chance. I'd have a lot more respect for Samsung, Sony, HP, etc. if they didn't use generic garbage like Android & Windows.

In the meantime, Apple will continue to set sales records, not because of quality products, but brand recognition. iPhone 6 Plus and Apple Watch only proved that Apple are followers of tech trends, not innovators.

Lemmings with the world's most powerful brand recognition are still at the end of the day just lemmings. :apple:

I still don't see anyone camping out for Samsung devices.

Since when is that a negative for them?

People camped out for Harry Potter books, Cabbage Patch dolls, Justin Bieber tickets, the movie Avatar and $100 off a TV at Walmart on Black Friday.

Just because something is stupidly popular (emphasis on "stupid") and people will sit outside for days, says more about the user base than the company.

Has Samsung done commercials like this for every other manufacturer? LG and Nokia and Motorola and every other phone company copied Samsung but Samsung has a preteen adolescent affair with Apple. I still don't see anyone camping out for Samsung devices.

The other manufacturers don't matter when Samsung and Apple run them over, and Samsung running over Apple in marketshare.

Also, the cost, You can get a Note 4 for 649 or 699, but the iPhone 6+ will end up costing at least $250 more... Does not make any sense whatsoever.

I think I agree.... lol -

Yes, because MS was the only company making PCs and PC software.

Cmon. It was about all of them. It was about a style. And it was clever.
Microsoft was not "the only company making PCs and PC software", but Microsoft Windows was the operating system on like 99% of every PC back then. So Microsoft was indeed synonymous with the term PC and so the ads were clearyl targetet at Microsoft. Because if you talked of a PC you just meant a PC running Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office and so on... "Cmon".

Free advertising for Apple. People may not have known about a larger iPhone... until this ad.

Thanks Samsung!

Lol, never even thought about it that is so true. People might not have been wanting to upgrade, but now they know the screens are bigger....

Apple will sell more iPhone 6s by end of year than SS will sell the S5 all year. I'm betting the 6 will outsell the S5 by a factor of 10.

Has Samsung forgotten about this?

A 6.1" display with handwriting recognition.

Welcome to 1993 ;)

I dislike when a company has to resort to making others look bad to sell product.... I'd rather they emphasize their own strengths than others weaknesses

*edit- Yes I am aware of the "Im a Mac" ads that ended 5 years ago

I'm a big Apple fan, but to be fair Apple did the same thing to windows with their "I'm a PC, I'm a Mac" commercials.

Like I said, using expensive materials and creating thinness comes with a price.

The basic question is : aren't smartphones mostly all about image today ? What is modernity, if not superficiality ? If yes, then Apple will win. If not, then Samsung will win.

I find it amusing that SS pays for all these celebrity endorsements and then the people they paid get caught tweeting from an iPhone. What does that tell you?

Yes it will but your point is what, there is one manufacturer of ios device and as i said in the other thread if there was only 1 manufacturer of android device then how do you think your stats will hold up? Android users have more choice so iphone sales figures will always look great on a per unit basis, but would look pretty damn small if the above scenario was true.

Why does MacRumors post these stories? They're just giving them free advertising at this point. I understand the stories about the actual products of Apple's competition, but why post the attack ads? What kind of good discussion is going to come from this article? Who seriously thinks that this article is a valuable contribution to this site?

No more iwatch rumors.
No more sapphire glass rumors (this year at least).
No more 5.5" iPhone rumors.

The only thing left are iPads but with a 5.5" iPhone half the people who cared aren't interested and a larger iPad is ridiculous. So basically a good 75% of their bait articles are dead.

It's really great to see the top rated comments in this news article from Apple fans once again. :D

Not to mention Premium Storage Cost by Apple - with Samsung you just buy a way cheaper SD card
