Pretty much. I don't think a lot of Android fanboys realize that the *ONLY* reason many people bought an Android is because Apple did NOT have one. That's not an Apple fanboy talking - it's just a fact. I know about 7 different people who are almost orgasmic with happiness that they can *finally* own an iPhone and a large screen device - and have them be in the same device. LOL

I remember back in the day when I had a Nokia and an iPod and then Apple brought out an iPhone and I thought, 'Why do I need two devices?'. Same thing now, I didn't want to have a phone for web browsing/movies AND a tablet for web browsing/movies. Now I can get the 6+ that does pretty much everything I need in one device.

Imitation is the greatest form of flatulance.

All I can say is, I love my iPhone and its great autocorrect feature.

This. While an ecosystem alone isn't enough to make me stay, it's a decent consideration. I spend my days getting computers/networks/servers working together nicely, so I can make any device (within reason LOL) work with other devices. But it's nice when it works with the other devices out of the box.

True. This is one reason I stick with the iPhone series for a phone. With three ATV3s in the house, 3 iPads (1 iPad 3, 1 iPad Mini, and 1 iPad rMini), a Mac Mini, and two iPhones, it is nice that they all play well with each other. I do not need to use different dongles or adapters to get something from my iphone or iPad to my TV. I can surf something on my iphone and pick up on my ipad (yes I know chrome does this too, which sometimes I use for printing things).

As for the iPad, my wife's iPad 3 is so far the first computer I have given her that she hasn't managed to screw-up or crash somehow. Been through plenty of laptops before with her. The iPad was the best device for her next to her iPhone. Something else she cannot screw up. I would dread giving her an android device.

you must haven't seen 'im a pc vs mac' commercials.
They were classy and funny lighthearted ads poking at Windows PCs, not snide like the Samsung ads. A very different tone.
I don't think that sort of negative and derogatory ads work at convincing anyone, just make people who already use it feel better about themselves and their choice of phone.
On a separate note, I would have liked for them to keep the current form factor as a 3rd choice, I like the iPhone 5 size. I'm a guy, unlike women who lug around large purses, I keep my phone in my pocket, and don't use it as my main reading device. I've got an iPad for that.

Also, while I would't have thought it, I'm kind of attracted to the idea of the :apple:watch. I used to wear a digital watch, a cheapish $20 one with cheap strap which would eventually break. I just wanted to tell the time and occasionally use the stopwatch or timer. But then suddenly the last time the strap broke, I couldn't find any watches that appealed to me, digital watches were becoming scarce. Analog watches never appealed to me, as I haven't been used to them. From then, I just used my phone like everyone else, pulling it outnalog watches never appealed to me, as I haven't been used to them.
Now this thing, although expensive for just a watch, it is beautiful and stylish, unlike any smart watch I've seen so far. I can see myself wearing one. If I can afford it. I'm looking forward to seeing one in person.

After having a galaxy for the past 4 months, I can't take these commercials seriously. Samsungs feel like a cheap knockoff of the iPhone. It isn't the next big thing. It's second rate junk. And if you're having to resort to attacking your competitors, it becomes extremely clear who is in the lead.
Heard that, buddy! I've been using a Galaxy S5 for the last 4 months as well and I can't wait to return to an iPhone and iOS.

Let's just keep this Samsung vs. Apple thing real......

Samsung doesn't make phones in the same sense that Apple does. Apple creates the hardware and the operating system in entirety. Samsung makes the hardware then slaps their own skin on Android OS and calls it a day. First let's talk about the hardware. Have you ever put flagship phones from each company side-by-side and compared them? The level of detail and fit-and-finish that Apple puts into their phones is unmatched. HTC came close with the M7 & M8 but the Galaxy S5 is nowhere close to the iPhone 5, 5S, 6 or 6 Plus in terms of build. I'm pretty sure this isn't even arguable. Hell, I just picked up my Galaxy S5 and it actually squeaks as I move it about in my hand. If you have a Galaxy S5, you know exactly what I'm talking about. LOL Not what I would call a premium build. Now let's talk about software. Touch Wiz has always been the red-headed stepchild of skins because - well - it's FUGLY! ...not to mention all of the services and apps they try and shove down your throat which add absolutely no benefit over-and-above those found on a pure Android device.

So remind me again how Samsung is innovating?

My biggest problem with Samsung devices is that they run Android! I have honestly never cared much about the size of the phone, I care more about what's inside of it; to wit, processor and operating system.

Well I disagree when it comes to Samsung's camera and camera software. It's excellent. And as someone who uses a case on both my iPhone and S4 - "build" quality matters less to me in the sense of how something looks. For me - regardless, it's stuck inside a case.

These have to be a joke. I can't imagine that high price executives at Samsung, or at the ad agencies, or the board of directors actually thinks these are effective.

I think they are just trying to get a reaction from Apple. Just trying to provoke some negative reaction so they can say "See how childish Apple is?"

And this is why I dislike and will never own a Samsung phone or tablet. Focus your commercials on your product and features, not bashing someone else. If I wanted to use Android, I would more than opt for HTC over sh*it-sung.

Yes, Apple is late to join the party. Yes, Apple hasn't done much innovation compared to its competitors as of lately. Yes, Samsung would still be making flip phones and crappy "smart phones" if it wasn't for Apple and its first iPhone.

I think it's funny that I stopped wearing a watch because of the Apple iPhone and now Apple are attempting to sell me a watch. The Apple Watch doesn't interest me at all, there will have to be a lot of iterations and improvements for that to change.

The camera in the S5 is good as is the camera in the 5S and no doubt the 6 and 6 Plus. That said, it can take an incredible amount of time to actually *take* the picture on the S5, which has been well documented.

It's entirely possible these (Samsung) ads are aimed at retaining their existing user base from defecting rather than attempting to convert iPhone users.

Its the only thing that would make sense and it really doesnt make much sense.

They could win plenty of new users over by actually advertising their products without acting like children. These ads just scream insecurity from the rooftops.

I am an Apple guy, never owned and don't believe ever will own an Android. Yet I am afraid to say, Samsung is right. Apple fanboys made fun of the large Samsung screen, and Apple specifically said we create iPhones smaller so you can use them with one hand. Now they have changed their minds.

As far comparing yourself with others, Apple does it all the time. Each keynote they pull out numbers and brag about their market share and make fun of the Windows platform. They make fun of the defragmented market.

Making fun of competing products is lame, but when what you say is true it works.

oh please - Apple lies all the time. In fact, every time someone in that company says they aren't going to do something you can pretty much guarantee that they will. we'll never sell music - we'll never make a phone ... in some cases it's lip service to throw off the competition.

Samsung didn't open up a market for large screen phones. Smart phone screen sizes have increased almost yearly. Apple had the largest screen on the market when it first introduced the iphone back in 2007. Before that, Microsoft had the largest screen size.

Yeah but really and truly, somebody has to have the biggest screen. It’s the degree to 'how big is right' that makes the difference. Apple specifically said 3.5”, or was it 4”, was right?

How is it working when they have been losing sales and profits for I believe four straight qtrs?

I'm not sure how effective the ads are at that. They got people's attention, to be sure (look at the number of posts on this thread), and Samsung undoubtedly spent a lot of money on the ad since it ran on NFL broadcasts all day, but it seems to show more desperation than anything else.

Yes, Apple did the "Hello, I'm a Mac, I'm a PC" ads, but it was clear back in those days that the Mac was the "little guy" to the Microsoft Windows juggernaut, just as it's clear in the "Cortana vs. Siri" ads that Microsoft is the "little guy" in mobile trying to make inroads. For that matter, the Samsung ads in 2011 were clever because they were novel, and Samsung had just started its rise. However, today Samsung has twice the market share of Apple overall, and a significant share of the profits (pretty much what's left after Apple). So for them to put out this ad now reeks of desperation.

Apple HAD to make this move, regardless of how hypocritical it made them look. I thin a lot of people would have jumped ship if they hadn't brought out a bigger phone. I was considering jumping ship myself.

Better to have egg on your face but have huge profits to ease the burn rather than sticking to your principles and lose customers hand over fist.

Samsung You b_a_s_t_a_r_d_s.

Hey they killed keni , Samsung you b_a_s_t_a_r_d_s.

Samsung is at ultimate low in phone business, all the other low end manufacturers are killing Samsung in price points. And Apple has the premium segment.

LOL. Sam is unable to 'Sing/Sung'

These are the actions of a desperate company. They're not trying to gain iPhone customers anymore. They've officially written those people off. They're now trying to stop the bleeding and convince their own to stick around. I have never seen a company attack another company's customers like Samsung. It's unbelievable.

The Mac vs PC commercials were in a different stratosphere, btw. Those also were the result of a desperate Apple trying to establish some sort of foothold in the PC market. They managed to eventually do that, but not because of the commercials. That's a different story.

Point is, the barrage of attack ads is a sign that the writing is on the wall for Samsung. I'm not saying the company is going to tank, but their growth days seem to be over for now. Their pipeline is unimpressive, to say the least.
