Nothing makes me want to run out and buy your products than desperately bashing my current products...

All I could think about when I saw this ad was how all the phone makers reacted to the original iPhone. There was so much negativity, the statements that the screen would break instantly because it was glass and how you wouldn't be able to read the screen because of fingerprint smudges. Samsung seems to forget that without that iPhone that they blatantly copied, they would have none of their current lineup.

They don't care about you. They're spending billions of dollars to get the fence sitters.

If the above is true, no matter how you slice it, Samsung is a company of epic idiocy.

I am so angry at Samsung right now. This ad is the worst thing that has happened to me in my whole life!

Perspective, you lack it.

I don't care what Samsung says because they're not wrong. Much of what we're seeing in Apple today is a bit behind the times. I've written this at least once in the past week here and I'll write it again…Apple may not be the first but I generally believe when they do get to certain features of their iPhones they tend to get it right. I'm sure Samsung has it right today too. It's a matter of preference for me.

The new iPhone, as with all iPhones won't flop. It helps that they wait a year to push out another model as it keeps users hungry.

Maybe a victim of there own success? Apple used to tear up the rule book with new products, but with a yearly release cycle it's just spec bumps and case tweaks.

Why do people keep parrotting the same old crap?

When, EVER, did Apple introduce NEW products instead of 'better' products? Apple has NEVER been 'FIRST'. They've ALWAYS watched a segment develop, and come out with the best product of that segment.

'Spec Bumps' and 'Case Tweaks' is not at all what Apple is doing. Adding 'NFC' is not simply a Spec Bump, the software integration and the pulling together of partners will actually make people start using their phones to pay for things - something that has NOT happened over the past 3 years with Android phones having NFC. Apple will get things to work, and get people to use things, something just adding a chip to a phone won't.

I've never been much of a Samsung fan and have never associated them with quality products just more middle of the range stuff, i did make the mistake of buying a Samsung Galaxy S2, never again.

I would not buy their products on principle now, as a company their true colours are starting to shine through. So when i need a new washer, fridge freezer, tv or what ever else they make, I'm automatically going to discount them, sc*m they are.

Don't you really mean that you won’t buy things with a visible Samsung logo but a hidden one is Ok?

You can't compare this to the I'm a Mac campaign, though there is a similarity in that both compare 2 alternative solutions. At the time Apples main competitor was not an individual product, it was the entire Microsoft/Windows ecosystem.

Samsung is not comparing their Note to every other 5" phone available. They mention the Apple & the iPhone 6+ specifically and their main selling point is 'we got here first, buy ours'. Not sure thats going to cut it with most consumers.

5"+ is a stupid size for a phone anyway.

I think Apple is the patent king. So I can now see with :apple:pay and the already touch ID, there may be few more features that may "cause" samsung to directly insult more and more with declining sales.

Not if you're 6'2" and 250 pounds with man hands and bifocals.

I still think Samsung's timing sucks. You go after competitors from a position of strength. They should have been making these adds when Apple only had the 4' screen. Go after Apple when just as they are about to bring out their 5.5' screen is silly. They had 2 years to produce their ad and they waited until 6/6+ launch week.

What are you saying? Do you think Samsung had a crystal ball?
Everything makes sense now. They should counteract now that Apple has reveal their iphone lineup. This is the time when they should be making this types of advertising. In addition, no need to mention or specify the actual name of the competitor.

Did Samsung ever thank Apple for the entire smartphone market?

I dont recall seeing it.

I have always had the latest and greatest phones. When the Iphone came out, I purposely didnt get one because I wasnt a fan of Apple computers. I finally made the jump and never looked back. I am no Apple fanboy, but I wonder what the smartphone market would look like if Apple hadnt brought the Iphone out? I am sure it would have happened anyway. But maybe no where near as early.

People can be as angry as they want at Samsung, but the reality is, if you want to hurt them, stop buying Samsung products. To be clear (for the smart asses), we're talking about Samsung consumer products, such as computers, phones, microwaves, TVs, etc. I'm not as concerned about Samsung chips being inside, as there's not much I can do about that.

Silly Samsung... They have zero shame, zero vision, zero focus & pose zero threat to Apple. On any tangible business level. They're desperation is palpable. They're business module is to make any and everything that people use. They're all over the place. They make refrigerators, for Steve's sake. I hear they have an exciting toaster in their pipeline.

I've seen this ad all over today, such an immature attitude. in 2 years, especially in technology, a market can change dramatically. and 4 years ago the focus wasn't on screen size.

I love this post. Why? Because it's a bit hypocritical. You know before the iPhone, touch ONLY interfaces weren't really the focus. Apple gets credit for disrupting the industry with that but Samsung can't get credit for phablets? Especially since so many mocked them for it and now Apple has embraced it. Oh come on. If people want to give Apple credit for X then they should be freely able to also give credit to company Y - no matter what company that is.

Of course a market can change dramatically - Samsung helped make that market available

And without Samsung, Nokia, Motorola, and others - there'd be no iPhone. So there you go.

Your signature. Love it.

The actual post not so much, so you got called out and that was the best you could manage?

Thanks for that.

I don't even remember the post - Everyones got an opinion. I said what I said, they said what they said... We move along, nothing to see here. Too many of these things turn into pissing contests. Not how I roll.

Memos from Apple management would say otherwise re: Samsung being a threat.

Samsung have to ask themselves did they do enough to corner the Phablet market despite a 4 year head start.

Say what you will about Samsung, but the Note is a great phone and apple really has not innovated with their phones in a LONG while. They basically have been playing catchup to Android in features and size. IOS8 has added "NEW" features that android owners have been enjoying for quite some time now.

I see more and more people using samsung phones now on my commute to work in DC so apparently Samsung is doing quite well. And I will be buying a Note 4, but I will also be buying a iPad Air 2. Right now, apple is still the best when it comes to tablets (for now).

Apple's got a 2 to 1 market share over Samsung in the US.

Most of the "features" you talk about were in the Apple jailbreak (and custom Android builds) before they came to official Android, so what is your point? Most of those things also existed in desktop software before they made their way to phones. So, did Google invent them before they even existed?

Nobody's doing Touch ID correctly and its already a year old. Nobody's doing 64 bit still and its you guessed it, a year old. IOS is still smoother than Android even tough they have more memory and had many years to catch up; they're not having full 64 bit OS and apps until 2016, so what's their excuse?

Considering there are dozens of different firms that can try different things on Android Phones, the fact that Android is still lagging in some areas is a lot more telling than Apple.

Memo is 3 years old, while Samsung's panic (in many different communiques and their financials) is recent.

Have you heard of Google Wallet? Google Wallet has been out for a while now. There are already companies out there in the US like McDonalds and other companies that Apple has mentioned you can use your phones to pay the bill for the past couple of years now. Yes, that means Samsung phones have had the capability to pay by using your phone with Google Wallet too. Japan and South Korea have been using phone NFC payments for 5 years now. Apple didn't invent the pay with your phone. Apple just wants you to think that they invented the pay with your phone.
The same Google Wallet that maybe a handful of people use at the few retailers that offer it?

Agreed. I remember seeing my coworker's jailbroken iPhone in 2009(?) doing all kinds of things that both my iPhone couldn't do and the people's first gen Droids couldn't do. Things from the pull down/up menu to multi-tasking, etc. So many history revisionists trying to give Android more credit than it deserves. Most importantly, I'd like to see Android run even fairly well with half the RAM, half the CPU cores, and half the clock speed for each core. We all know it cannot.

lol...this is like BMWs vs Hyundai.
This bashing is making me more and more don't want to buy the competitors. I understand maybe in the beginning u have to get your stuff noticed.

It has got to be about 3-4 years now Samsung and other competitors bashing Apple to get ahead? I mean come on, FOCUS. show me how good your products are and why I should buy. Not bash all the existing owners of Apple and then hope for them to change. What kinda strategy is that?

Do they hire monkeys for marketing?
