I'm never close enough to any of my (very few) friends to bump phones. Guess I'll just have to keep clicking the Share|Message button on my iPhone... ;)

It's one of those stupid, awkward features that no real live human being would ever actually use.

Wow if this is really all you think Samsung and android is then you've clearly never used it. Whether you like these features or not, at least Samsung is actually TRYING. Every single jailbreak tweak that iPhone users drool over are features ripped straight from android. Jailbreaking is essentially a tool that turns iOS into android.

When you have millions of people dying to jailbreak their phone because stock iOS is a snooze fest, there is clearly a problem with the phone that apple refuses to address.

The keyboard doesn't even switch to lowercase letters or have a top number row. You also need a jailbreak just to get an app switcher that doesn't suck. Lets not forget how much harder it is to get a jailbreak for newer devices and you have to sacrifice every incremental update for an entire year if you want to keep jailbreak.

Samsung and HTC are showing apple how its done this year. Samsung even more impressively considering they use PLASTIC and it still outsold the iPhone. Doesn't that tell you fanboys something? All those people aren't stupid. They clearly recognize the great customization and feature set that Samsung provides. Android is also smooth as butter now and rivals iOS smoothness.

Android also has native controller support so playing games and emulators with PS3, 360, and the MOGA Pro is 1000x better than shoddy touch controls once iPhone.

Welcome to 2013. Where android is actually innovating, performing smoothly, and offering devices in all shapes and sizes all while being cost effective.

Apple needs to innovate by the end of this year otherwise they are screwed. iPhone 5 sales only happened because there was a little juice left in the apple loyalist tank. But it's running dry and soon hardcore apple fans won't be so forgiving of regurgitated designs and a lack of new features.

I laughed, anybody else? :p

The keyboard doesn't even switch to lowercase letters or have a top number row.

TLDR but ummm did notice this error; the keyboard certainly switches top and lower case-it can even switch to accented characters (like the è or é) "sywpe" style - which is a feature I'd like in ios so I am no blind fanboy - oh that term is frowned upon here.

I think the problem is that by now most smart phones have everything you need and do everything you need.
For a while now it seems they are just innovating to innovate, not putting out that much useful stuff IMHO.
In the beginning every new phone that came out was a real step foreward, but from an Apple perspective (again IMHO) after the iPhone4 nothing really ground breaking has come along. Maybe the smart phones have reach their pinnacle and it´s time to look for the next big thing? ;-)

Or I´m just getting old and are mot so easily exited by tech anymore:eek:

innovation is dead. I have no desire to buy another phone after the iphone 5 for a while. I have LTE, I have a great camera, it's not to big. I'll be using this thing for years.

I agree that if something is good, it should last for years and you shouldn't have to buy a new one every year.

Unless you accidentally let iTunes update iOS, which will make your iPhone slower and slower and before you know it, within 1-2 years it's too slow to use. And you can't downgrade, no matter what… Not even by jailbreaking. Yep, no hacker in the Universe can downgrade your iOS version. Not even God can do that!

Takes too long for people to adopt new technology (whether it is the technology or barrier to entry). This marked the first time smartphone sales passed dumbphone sales. For example, there is so much ground to be made in mobile payments. Not just NFC payments. But on the topic of NFC payments, it is pretty widespread, but people are just not adopting the technology at a fast, recognizable pace.

And on a similar note, all the augmented reality stuff Google is doing is pretty nifty too, but it'll take a long time for that to mature and for people to get on the train.

You're joking right?

You clearly missed the "I'm a Mac" campaign.

Sure apple makes fun of a competing company, that's all fine. Samsung want to point out factual flaws in Apple products? Seems fine to me.

But in the last round of samsung ads they mocked "Stupid sheepish apple drones" that mindlessly followed the latest iToy instead of the "real" good phones.
This strategy is insulting to the people you are trying to win over and counterproductive for Samsung even.

Mock products and company's, not users.

Even so, I thought the best ad of the year so far was Sony's nostalgic Xperia ad with the David Bowie song playing in it. Made my feel proud to have Sony products by showing me what that company "can" do instead of what others "can't".

This is the most effective form of advertising, in my opinion.

Its the whole bully attitude, if you can't be creative then pick on someone.

Most reviews have not been kind to the S4.

Dude, look back in the history. Apple poked fun at big blue too. They just can't keep it up with Samsung.

----------

Yeah they never do it to Samsung, but they have done it to PC VS Mac.

They have done it with IBM too. Steve did that.

You are kidding right? My 3GS runs fine on IOS6 and that thing is 3 generations old.

Can you imagine how long it took to make this video? Actors messing up. Phone lagging when using the features. Feature not working. Actors making fun of the phone and recreating the cycle ones more. Used the S4 and it saying it doesn't work as advertised is an understatement. >_>

Samsung Corporate Culture

Samsung's latest ad has made its way online (via CNET), once again poking fun at Apple's iPhone in order to promote its new flagship phone, the Galaxy S4.

YouTube: video
The 93-second ad takes place at a summer pool party and has Galaxy S4 users showing off select features of their phone, like the ability to control a TV, air gestures, the camera and S Beam, which allows users to transfer content between phones by bumping them together.

Like last year's Samsung ad, which poked fun at the iPhone 5 launch, Samsung portrays the iPhone as uncool by having older, parent-like figures using the iPhone 5.

Samsung is a Top Down company with an authoritarian position to its employees and everything else. They will have over 500 Stores within a store in BB staffed by 3 people at all time. It will be much different
than the passive Apple Stores in BB. They have good products but
the attitude is more like N. Korea than S. Korea.

Has anyone posted this quote and link yet?

"The survey found that iPhone owners average 32 years of age, which compares to 34 years of age for other smartphone owners and 40 years for mobile phones as a whole."

I still find the NFC file transfer by humping each others phones absolutely hilarious and pathetic! Hey samsung, I can transfer files too, and I don't have to be touching phones to do it!!! It's this new thing called 'the internet'.

Wow such a douche you are. Not everyone in the world has unlimited data on their plans. Some people dont have data at all. In my town there is like 5 free wifi hotspots and im never near any of them. I have a low data cap on my phone because i barley use any. I dont want to waste it sharing a picture. NFC does it with zero data and does it very quickly and easily.

What a pathetic joke of a commercial. I have no problem with anyone going after anyone, but damn you need to bring somthing better than this. Oh look I can wave my hand to answer the phone. Multiple problems here. One, unless it's a dire emergency I don't answer the phone while I'm eating. What if your phone is in your pocket where it's supposed to be? Who takes a call on speaker with mouth full of food 'and' in front of several other people at the table? Classless and rude. The list goes on. I can control my direct tv from my iPhone too, but why would I want to open an app and waste precious smart phone battery when my dtv remote works perfectly fine. And faster. Sigh

The only good thing about it is the NFC sharing feature.......oh, but wait, I have that on my Nexus 4! Without crappy Touchwiz! :D

And on iPhone there's Bump.

This is exactly the sort of ad which Samsung would create but Apple just wouldn't. If you ask me, it's the ad created from a guilty conscience.

Another effective advertising campaign by Samsung, considering how iphone fanboys panties are, yet again, in a wad.

You know, you never see Apple making fun of Samsung phones or the company in their ads...
I guess it's just a good gauge of class.

EDIT - WOOSH. Sarcasm. I guess you guys never heard of it? Jesus you people are dense.

Blaming this on readers makes you the only dense one here. "Sarcasm" isn't just a magic word you call out like "dibs!" or "jinx!" Sarcasm is usually reflected in intonation or writing style. Sometimes, sciolistic peons with lousy communication skills think they've expressed sarcasm online when they haven't. Intonation doesn't come across online, and writing style can be ambiguous even when educated people do it.

In your case, the first sentence alone would have been such an ambiguous case. By adding the second sentence, you got rather detailed. Most people with half a brain or more would take that level of detail to be a serious statement.

"Jesus you people are dense" is an excellent response provided you want to blame your lack of communication skills on others.

Samsung is meh. Apple at the moment is meh. Who cares, really, until there's a real shift in the market.

I see you missed the point of NFC transfer completely. Well done.

Samsung are just worried, they've done an Apple. Gain momentum and do really well then get lazy and deliver a substandard update.

The S4 is ploughed full of gimmicks that need to be turned off in order to use the phone properly and lag free.

They should be more worried that the Galaxy S4 isn't even the best Android handset. The HTC One now takes that crown.

I agree. I don't like the Samsung ad because as you said, they insult their potential future customers. However, I think it's kind of rich for people on this forum to trash this ad and how Apple is so above this sort of action when they did the exact same thing in the past.

I liked Microsoft's ad that they had on Samsung and Apple, very well done!

Do you have a link to the Sony ad? i've love to see it
