Samsung are just worried, they've done an Apple. Gain momentum and do really well then get lazy and deliver a substandard update.

The S4 is ploughed full of gimmicks that need to be turned off in order to use the phone properly and lag free.

They should be more worried that the Galaxy S4 isn't even the best Android handset. The HTC One now takes that crown.

From all the reviews I have read - they are neck and neck. It really comes down to personal preference (i.e. build materials, storage, removable battery, software).

I agree. I don't like the Samsung ad because as you said, they insult their potential future customers. However, I think it's kind of rich for people on this forum to trash this ad and how Apple is so above this sort of action when they did the exact same thing in the past.

I liked Microsoft's ad that they had on Samsung and Apple, very well done!

Do you have a link to the Sony ad? i've love to see it

How do they insult future customers? Because they tell you that an iPhone can't bump to get pictures using NFC? How is that insulting?

They didn't insult even a single future customer in this ad. The only time the iPhone even came into play was when mentioning the NFC bump (which is a pretty cool feature, even if some of you can't admit to it). The whole "send it to me. Oh, we can't do that with your phone" wasn't baseless bashing just to bash. It was pointing out you can't do that with the iPhone. That's advertisement. Show what your product can do that the other big products can't. Simple, and nothing worth getting any panties in a wad over.

Too late - there isn't enough starch to get some of these panties out of being in a wad.

You are so freakin mean and insensitive it's bordering in rude. My cousin has downs and if she can stay connected to her family by using an iPhone I applaud her and Apple for making it easier for her to communicate. Think outside your little box for a moment and please be kinder to people with handicaps.

That is funny and sad at the same time. No wonder I never owned a iphone.
Apple better add some complexity instead of flatness to iOS 7 or else the cheap plastic Note 3 will be my next device.

To sync with a bump on iOS install the Bump app (sync between iOS, Android AND Mac/PC — Free).

To remote-control your Sony TV from your iPhone install the Sony Media Remote app (free for iOS).

To get a lot of new features that S4/Android doesn't have, install the corresponding iOS-only app.

Can you imagine how long it took to make this video? Actors messing up. Phone lagging when using the features. Feature not working. Actors making fun of the phone and recreating the cycle ones more. Used the S4 and it saying it doesn't work as advertised is an understatement. >_>

Commercial was very niche. I feel like they are missing the segment of smartphone consumers who are potential GS4 customers but don't necessarily care about all those features.

"I'm taking a picture of these ribs with my new gs4. have a smell!"
wtf!?

This part of the ad was a bit over the top, could have cut it out to make the ad shorter.

Wow such a douche you are. Not everyone in the world has unlimited data on their plans. Some people dont have data at all. In my town there is like 5 free wifi hotspots and im never near any of them. I have a low data cap on my phone because i barley use any. I dont want to waste it sharing a picture. NFC does it with zero data and does it very quickly and easily.

I don't get it (not trying to be mean) but if you want to share a picture do you go up to each person and S-Beam it to them individually? What if they don't have a GS4 or are unavailable? Do you wait to share?

I only ask b/c due to social networking and other factors, people are taking billions of pictures a day, can you imagine everyone S-Beaming everything to each other?

With some people, it seems like the moment the bought an Apple device, their panties immediately started riding up into uncomfortable places and go gordian on them.

After awhile, it starts chafing, and that'd kill anyone's sense of humor.

You can go ahead and keep telling yourself that. While I applaud Samsung for finally moving in the direction of showing people what their kit can do for them (instead of just insulting iphone users), this commercial was a joke touting pointless, battery sucking, lag inducing, and capacity crushing features. By contrast, I thought Microsofts commercial was hilarious.

I'm not talking about this ad specifically. I'm talking about their anti-Apple campaign. If you look at their commercials closely, they poke fun at the people that own the iPhone, not the iPhone itself.

GS4 Simulator

For those that refuse take the time to actually see if what you are posting is remotely true, there is a simulator that will walk you through the features.

I personally like the S Health under services but 99% of the BS in the 12 pages of posting could have been avoided by taking some time before bashing the phone.

But the difference is - not everything the S4 does requires internet and/or data usage. So yes - you can get SIMILAR features for SOME things - but not all. Just like some here (not me) would argue that Siri is on the iPhone and there are other apps you can have on Android - but they will never be Siri.

And you know these are battery sucking features because of your vast usage of the S4? Same with lag. And capacity crushing.

Look - I think Siri is a waste and a gimmick. But it's a great feature for others. But I won't spread FUD about something I don't use and how it affects battery life, etc.

I would say that not only did they show what the phone could do - but they gave real world use cases. Whether or not YOU would use them in such a way is another matter.

Yes - but people are talking about THIS commercial and stating that they are insulting customers. They aren't. And that is what I am replying to/referencing.

I thought Samsung already had the "Next Big Thing" with the Galaxy S3. I guess they lied to us because now they say the S4 is the "Next Big Thing". Which one is "Next Big Thing"? ...haha

I'm never close enough to any of my (very few) friends to bump phones. Guess I'll just have to keep clicking the Share|Message button on my iPhone... ;)

NFC does it without network. how do you not understand that. the IR inthe s4 controls the tvwithout network or needing a smart tv. also please name one killer thing ios has that android doesn't. don't just say ios

Yes. Much like "this changes everything."

if this means

So if Samsung's ads make Apple products less popular for thieves, I'm all for looking like an out of touch "elder."

Otherwise, I couldn't care less.

Now if I could extend the get-as-much-use from all my Apple products as I do my iPhone, I'd be golden. :)

You are kidding right? My 3GS runs fine on IOS6 and that thing is 3 generations old.

That's good news then, I wouldn't have thought so. My iPod Touch 2g gradually slowed down with each new version of iOS, and I found that there is no way to downgrade as iOS is protected more than anything else. Which really made me think "planned obsolescence"! But apparently then it's not the case with all iOS devices!

Please link one review that has been unkind to the s4

http://www.theverge.com/2013/4/24/4257254/samsung-galaxy-s4-review:

"I don't like holding this phone, and I can't overstate how much that informs the experience of using it. It makes an awful first impression, slippery and slimy and simply unpleasant in your hand. My white review unit is completely smooth and glossy, with a subtle checkered pattern that looks textured but is neither grippy nor textured anywhere on its body. Even the silver band around the sides, which is obviously supposed to look like metal, is plastic. Everyone I showed the GS4 to frowned and wrinkled their nose as if it smelled bad, before rubbing their fingers on the back of the phone and then handing it back to me"

"The HTC One is a powerful, feature-rich device that is also beautiful and classy, while Samsung's handset feels like an overpowered children’s toy."

The App Store with over 700000 apps fir anything

Yep, it certainly is big.

Yes my goodness it's huge! It's a shame your pockets are the exact dimensions of an iPhone 5, you'll never be able to fit it in.
