Is the iMac 27 inch the most popular seller could I ask just quickly off topic a little.

specs are the same though. the graphics on the page were screwy for a bit but now they are back to normal. a few people in that thread also indicated that it has said "new" for a while now.
sorry to get hopes up :(

Some times goes like that. The 'new' moniker appears sometimes ahead of anything else and then the specs get updated. Not sure why or if it happens all the time but I am hopeful

9to5mac has been very explicit on this "This year, Mountain Lion isn’t being launched alongside hardware" so what do we make of the prospects of 24/25 July?

I want to hate 9to5 Mac as I feel they are in an anti iMac conspiracy with apple. But I know that's just my inlogical anger talking. 9to5 Mac has earned their trust, they are most likely right. I'd say 80% chance we are not seeing a new iMac this month.

Lately I've been going to store.apple.com, putting 1 of each iMac in my cart, and for each one in sequence picking "ship to store". I put in my zip code and it shows me the Apple stores w/in 50 miles. Most say "in stock", and some say "check availability" and you click that to get their expected date.

Today is the same as yesterday - all stores have both 21", 2 stores have no base 27", and 2 stores have no top 27".

So what does this mean?

9to5mac states "Mountain Lion isn't being launch alongside hardware", this could also be taken to mean, no new hardware... i.e. No refresh, but it does not necessarily exclude a silent spec bump. The hardware is already there and available, the components would be all that changes with a spec bump.

Just a thought, I could be way off on this seeing as how my 206 iMac is starting to have video issues and I would really like to replace it with a 2012 and not go with year old tech... But only time will tell if that actually comes to pass..

I would LIKE to truly believe this BUT unfortunately something tells me I'd be clatching at straws! Been waiting since April and it's getting ridiculous really

The 9to5 "report" really looks to have been fabricated out of whole cloth. Stand by and let ML release and see what happens.

yes it seems like they are agaisnt the release they went on posting fake geekbentchs to prove that the imac wasnt coming... but im just probably taking it way to personal to but idk in my opinion instead of going out of their way to prove fake geekbench they should start asking the sources more about whats going on with the imacs.

Really? Proper deceit or are we talking 'shooting from the hip' type fabrication? I hadn't realised that. How did you find out about it? Really, really do hope you are right

More of the latter. The activity they described would be in the overnight would be the same thing they do after closing every day anyway, just with a different image. There wouldn't really be a need for an overnight if all they were doing was installing ML on the demos and hanging a couple banners.

Sadly that doesn't sell 'copy' as they used to say in the newspaper industry last century...to me, the most important argument which may - just may - give me a glimmer of hope that 9to5 have got it wrong is the one about the need for overnights when essentially they are telling us there is no hardware launches. If there are overnights planned, it seems unlikely that it would be for an appstore only software release. Thoughts? Perhaps I am clatching at straws.

my thought that it could be so they can hang new promo stuff thats my honest opinion if they are not have any hardware they could have like three people one installing the new os on the machines and two other hanging banners promo material etc... idk .. i really dont know its just my guess and im so wishing im wrong

Note that in another thread someone noted that a supply-constrained reseller is suddenly getting a large shipment on July 30.. this could mean any of the following:
- The model launches on July 25 and it takes a few extra days to get them to resellers
- The model launches on July 30
- They've been refusing large orders on 2011 models so that resellers will get them with ML when ML launches

I don't find the 3rd likely, but it's plausible.

If the imac launches with ML and surprises us all, I will be so happy. My only worry about this is its just like every other "low stock" rumors you hear floating around and its just the reseller waiting for another shipment....

I highly doubt #3 is possible because of this:
http://www.apple.com/osx/uptodate/

If you purchase a mac between June 11th and ML release, you have 30 days from the release to download it for free.

This essentially gives Apple 30 days from ML's release to change the image on all new Macs.

With this offer I don't think Apple would bother with re-imaging all the old Mac's if the consumer can get it for free through the App Store, something they have been push consumers to use anyway...

Just a thought.

I agree #3 which I don't want it to be is also the one that seem unlikely. Doubt apple would hold back to install ML. They haven't been that picky on syncing OS and machines before on a release... And nobody will be fooled to think the 2011 iMacs are new anyway ( or well, some perhaps :D ) but it could probably be multiple other logistic reasons we can't imagine too... So I'm still just hoping while being prepared for disappointments 8(

I would laugh if Apple had to change all of the graphics on the iMac page on their website due to mountain lion being out but no new hardware. I know they would have to do that but it joust seems funny.
