The Apple 4K story was the most disappointing announcement here. No gaming story. No U1 in the remote? Two generation old chip? I mean, I'll still upgrade but... eh?

And it's still $180 or $200 (!!)

I mean it's nice... very powerful with some unique features... but they're in a market with $50 Rokus and Fire Sticks.

And the built-in apps on people's TVs.

The Apple TV box went from a hobby to a luxury hobby.

:p

Apple doesn’t know the meaning of exciting updates anymore it’s all small minor ones just look at the design of the iMac it’s shocking, but hey ho at least they talk about climate change 24/7 and make Siri genderless, if it wasn’t for the eco system I would give up with apple now, like I always say the hype is better than any event

How frequently do people lose their remotes and keys? Honestly I've never been unable to find my remote for more than about 10 seconds. It'd take longer to launch an app than the couple seconds to check around the couch, there it always is.
Does it seem odd to you that maybe people have kids? Kids move and lose things.

I honestly can't remember the last time I've ever lost a remote in the past 15 years. It's really a non-issue but only because it's Apple will people here bash them about it. The people here that can't get past this horribly terrible life-changing news about the Apple remote....can decide to buy a Roku. That's what I have and love it. It has 4K, Airplay, has AppleTV Plus and has the built-in remote finder feature, all for $99.00 USD.

Typical of Tim Cook’s Apple. Faced with the choice to make something amazing and magical that costs them $1 or make something typical but get you to pay $29 they choose the option to make a few more bucks.

In a home of children we lost our Apple TV remote for 4 months. Its tiny and thin and can slip anywhere.

Eh... not a biggie. I've yet to lose any remote, ever, over a few decades. With respect to the Apple remote, where else would it be, if not within a dozen or so feet of the Apple TV it is paired with (and very likely around the couch/chairs)?

Airtags = Lazy People (do it for me Apple, I can't find where I put anything) lol
1 for $40 3 for $80 lol No Way!!

How come Apple can't see it in them to round off the bevels at the bottom of the remote.. At least this one seems thicker but I can imagine the struggle getting this off the table.

It's not like I'm retarded, but I think the struggle is real with these remotes. And the mouse-soap-bar thing

You wouldn’t need to launch an app - you’d just say “Hey Siri, where’s the remote”, your HomePods would pick it up and the remote would start making a noise.

Come to think of it, if it has a speaker in it then it could do that even without a U1 chip. Does anybody know if it does?
