where did you hear of a price increase for TetherMe?

Go to the repo directly on Cydia.

The package source states it will be going up due to "wifi support."

I bought it right away because I've been needing tethering support,
and this package does it pretty darn good!

Can't wait to test out personal hotspot when 4.3 and untethered jailbreak come out!

I bought TetherMe ever since it came out. I would have never given MyWi $20, ever.

Me neither. I go with the native service every day of the week.

*EDIT*

Also, I heard the iOS 4.3 on iPad allows you to tether an iPad over bluetooth, so you could use TetherMe on iOS 4.2.1 on your iPhone and still share internet to your iPad.

The iPad rumor is very interseting. I'd love to know for certain if that will happen.

Can those of you running the updated version of TetherMe find out if you can get a video game console to hook up to your phone? MyWi claims that when iOS 4.3 comes out, it will be able to connect to any wifi device. I'll have to wait & see about this, but I'm glad that it seems like these 2 are keeping very close to one another. It looks like the only real competition is price & security. Sadly, TetherMe wins both of those. I don't feel cheated since I bought MyWi, but I'd feel stupid to buy another tethering app.

Wi-Fi tethering is still not out for 4.1.0 and less (including 4.2.1). It's until 4.3.0 that we will get that support.

The people that are talking about the 4.3 upgrades might be using 4.3 betas. This would give them access to the Hotspot feature as well as TetherMe's ability to use it.

You're really going to online game using a 3G connection? Have fun getting owned if so!

The Personal Hotspot on 4.2.6 runs in infrastructure mode, using WPA2, which means any wireless device can connect to it.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 4: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

Hmm, I may wait on buying MyWi at this point.

Questions-

1)What is the website address for tetherme for official info?

2)What is the email address for the developer

3)Does the latest tetherme allow for just for tethering from the Iphone to a pc? Or is it an actual hotspot for multiple devices? And if it works for multiple devices, how many will be able to wireless tether to the Iphone at the same time?

4)And last, If I buy the tetherme for my Iphone, will the Ipad tether to it?

Can I ask a stupid question? If TetherMe is an app that you can only run on Jailbroken iPhones, but there is not a jailbreak for 4.3, how can this be working on a 4.3 device? Maybe I'm just being very obtuse but I don't get it...

I don't play shooting games. Do you want to hear the bad part? My 3G speed is faster than my DSL speed was. :D
Same here (I'm on 1.5mbps DSL) but it's not the speed for gaming that's the issue (once you get high enough). 3G ping times are awful and THAT is what will get you pwned.

There is a jailbreak for 4.3 already, it's just a tethered one (requires using software and the iDevice being connected to a computer to be able to reboot it) which most people don't want.

I'm on 4.3 Jailbroken and have TetherMe. Personal Hotspot is beautiful.

tetherme.net

2)What is the email address for the developer
twitter.com/sbingner

It allows you to use Personal Hotspot (Apple's native tethering) without having to pay a carrier for tethering (if your carrier charges for it). Personal Hotspot allows the iPhone to be a wifi hotspot (router), BT or USB tether. at&t is saying you can tether 3 devices at a time on wifi but there is some speculation as to whether USB and BT count as one each because Apple was saying 5 at a time.

4)And last, If I buy the tetherme for my Iphone, will the Ipad tether to it?
Yes. Wifi tethering on the iPhone is in infrastructure mode which means ANY wifi enabled device can connect to it. It shows up like any other wifi router.

Can you verify that it sets up an infrastructure network? WPA security?
Yes and yes. It's exactly what everyone has been wanting.

I realize I could've named any router as "Aaron's iPhone" but I have no reason to lie to anyone on MR. I like to be as honest as possible. Take it or leave it.

If anyone is wondering how I displayed the connection info (I didn't know until recently), hold Cmd while clicking the Airport menu icon. Sweet huh?

Perfect! Thanks.

Fair enough about games on cell phone wifi. Where can I find the tethered 4.3 jailbreak? I've had no major problems with tethered JB except for one app. But, I don't have to use that app anymore.
