Pressure across the whole back of the phone is more realistic to what would happen in your pocket than an area the size of your thumbs. You aren't going to have that same force pushing in one spot as you are pulling with your hands as well.

If you think bending with your hands is a valid test you're a fool.

Actually what happens in a pocket is that the pocket supports/prevents the entire phone from being pushed away as the thigh and hip come closer together. Because the phone can't move away, the force on both sides of the phone increases relative to the center of the phone as the thigh and hip push against it, bending it over a fulcrum point in the center of the phone.

In not so many words, you are also jumping to conclusions. A test doesn't need to duplicate exact conditions for it to be a useful data point. Everything we've seen so far indicates the iphone 6 is the structurally weakest phone in comparison to others. Does that mean it's too weak? Not sure yet, but I wouldn't bet that it isn't.

I'm just saying the tests aren't worth a damn. And so far after a week of having my 6 plus and keeping it in my pocket I haven't had any issues and I can feel if there is to much pressure on the phone. And at the current moment everyone seems to either want to replicate it and put it on YouTube to make money off it or they show no proof at all.

Here's an idea: don't exert pressure on it and it won't bend. By that I mean don't keep it in your pocket when you're at the gym doing stretching and stuff, don't put it in your back pocket and sit on it, and don't keep it in the pocket of skinny jeans.. you know, common sense stuff.

These guys look like they're trying really hard to bend the phones, but most of their effort is directed towards not putting their fingers through the screen. It's difficult to get a purchase on just the bezel. Getting a decent grip is the tricky part but defend it all you like, the iPhone 6 looks rrreal easy to bend.

*sigh* That's not a real world test. Putting focused direct force in the center of the back of the phone is not what would happen in real life. In real life, the phone is smaller so it fits in your pocket more easily and is less likely to experience the type of force that the 6 Plus would get in that same pocket. The thing is... the 6 Plus is just too large and it may stick out a little bit in your pocket, then when you sit down, your leg will bend the phone where your leg bends at your waist.

Wit the regular 6, it can slide all the way down inside your pocket and being narrower on the sides, it's less likely to try to conform to your thigh too.

Sticks out of what jeans pockets? The plus fits fully in every regular pear of Jeans out there

Hey, I've always been very careful with my phones and with this one I'm being extra careful. I expect to have no bending issues. But it's pretty clear some percentage of the population treats their phones more roughly than you or I do, and some of those may now run into issues.

I think this can be fixed by improving the reinforcement of the phone.

I don't doubt that, but Apple seems to think there has only been 9 reports of bending iPhones. That's a very tiny percentage of the population.

Also, no matter how many people treat the phone roughly, that doesn't justify doing so.

Why are there so many people here who look like they are here just to knock the phone? Most don't even have the phone in question

I'm so over these stupid overblown rumors and videos of people intentionally bending phones to prove it bends if you try. I'll enjoy my 6 plus and keep using it while others who don't even have the phone keep arguing

Did you even watch the video? You didn't see how little pressure he applied before it started to cave?

You are so over it that you post it here? right... Keep enjoying it when it suddenly bends in your front pocket. Just because it shifted position and a little pressure applied to one edge of it and apple says "***** you, your own fault".

I fear the worst each time I sit down and feel the fabric tighten on my IP6.

I've seen the video several times. Not just this one but his first one as well. Yeah when I first got my plus these rumors had me nervous and worried. Which I wouldn't be if it it were not for these videos. Now I realize how stupid these videos are for reasons I've already explained, that this doesn't depict normal everyday use. I have the phone, you don't but yet you are telling me what's going to happen with my phone in the future because of some guy on YouTube. I'm sorry but I'll believe the more reliable sources who have tested this and put this guy to shame. 99 percent of the people who are knocking apple and saying the bending issue is as big of a deal as the guy in the video don't even have the phone. More importantly I'll believe me and my own use with my own phone. You want to talk about why I post here, yet you're only here to mock and claim something you know nothing about

This video is crazy and for me I worry about 2 years of delicate use and babying the phone than how I use it in the first 14 days. People will use more care before they cant return it in my opinion. The main reason I don't see this as fake is because if it were wouldnt Apple sue the pants off of this guy for misrepresenting their product?

I am not saying the phone is terrible, but my 6 is not as sturdy as the 4 or 5 IMO.

I never said the video was fake. I don't know if it is or not. I'm not saying that the phone won't bend if you put it in a vice grip. What I am saying is I believe the phone will stand up in day to day normal use

Ok and neither is taking a phone putting all the force in one point with your thumbs and bending it but everyone like you seems to have bought into it. You sign up just to say that?

I didn't say that bending the phone with your thumbs was any better.

What I mean is, none of the testing I've seen so far is realistic. I wanna see someone actually put an iPhone 6 or 6 Plus in their pocket and sit down with it for a while and see if it comes out bent.

Sorry for any confusion. I never said you did. :)

What a clever move by a desperate Samsung to bend an iPhone and post it to YouTube! Somebody at Samsung is getting a promotion!!!

How big was the "donation" Apple sent to Consumer reports to rush that video to market?

Conspiracy theorist ? I think not lol

Even the guy who started the whole bendgate thing about the 6Plus on YouTube struggled to bend a normal 6.

Watch his iPhone 6 video:
http://youtu.be/IROcoJeVfSI

Dude so what he struggled. It doesn't change the fact that I saw the 4.7" iPhone 6 bent at the Apple Store. Let me guess, you're another one of the 4.7" iPhone 6 people that can't stand to hear any criticism about your phone? I also like how you called the smaller 6 "normal". That confirms my suspicions.
