Dude so what he struggled. It doesn't change the fact that I saw the 4.7" iPhone 6 bent at the Apple Store. Let me guess, you're another one of the 4.7" iPhone 6 people that can't stand to hear any criticism about your phone? I also like how you called the smaller 6 "normal". That confirms my suspicions.

If the phone is bent in the store it's cause some idiots bent it. I hope anyone who does that gets caught by Apple. It's no different then going to any store and breaking an item.

Here is the best theory of why the iphone 6 + bends and how to fix it, what do you think? Sometimes a billion dollar company needs help and maybe the solution is far easier than everybody thinks.

I think the biggest error in Apple is to trust machines to test for bend issues.

Short versión: it's not bc it's thin or aluminum, it's bc behind the volume buttons there's a metal reinforcement that's not well designed. Keep reading to know the details.

The above theory is wrong. 3 point test method done by Apple or CR is the correct method. Here is why.

I don't understand WTF is so mysterious about the 6+. Half of you idiots think the bent phones are fake. The other half think it's a defect.

When did Apple ever claim these things were indestructible? You wanted a gigantic lightweight phone. You finally got it. Now it has to defy the laws of physics too? You expect a warranty against physics? Seriously?

The phone is aluminum. In addition to bending, it can also dent if you drop it. I don't see anyone clamoring for a free replacement because they dropped and dented it.

And every iPhone ever has had a glass screen, which when dropped, can and often will crack. But there's no glassgate. Why? Because while people can be stupid, no one is stupid enough to think a dropped phone with a cracked screen is Apple's fault.

Dented, cracked, bent...these all fall under the same category. User negligence.

Repeat after me. "You can not put a large thin hollow slab of aluminum in a tight pants pocket and sit down." Sorry folks!

Did you even watch the video? You didn't see how little pressure he applied before it started to cave?

You are so over it that you post it here? right... Keep enjoying it when it suddenly bends in your front pocket. Just because it shifted position and a little pressure applied to one edge of it and apple says "***** you, your own fault".

I fear the worst each time I sit down and feel the fabric tighten on my IP6.

How could you see the "pressure/force"? Are you Superman with x-ray vision? Pressure can be measured but not seen. See the following video. People can bend anything with a smile on his face.

This video once again proves the iPhone bends...consumer reports is bullcrap....I bet you guys are too afraid to try this on your devices cuz it's true...bends like a paperweight

A person would have to be a complete dunce to try and break their property to see if they can.

Does he look like a bodybuilder to you?

The pressure required to bend it is not very large. He says "It is very easy to bend". He isn't able to bend a Samsung Note 3 with all his force.

I don't care about dubious video on YouTube. And I don't care about Note 3. Wouldn't want that even if it survives nuclear war. lol.

So many stupid people out there that's for sure. Otherwise scamming won't be prosperous.

Instead of going into an in depth debate over the validity of YouTube videos or tests on the iPhone bending, I'd much rather here from fellow iPhone 6 Plus users who have their phones like mine subjected to the REAL test it will be exposed to during everyday use.

I've had mine for 5 days and actually got it the day before I found out about bendgate so since then I have been reluctant to leave it in my pocket except while walking. I did have to keep it in my front pocket for two hours during a football match and it was absolutely fine! So if it has no problems there then I don't see how it'll ever be subjected to more force than that?! Except if it stayed in my pocket for a long time and it got hot then it may become more susceptible to bending.

So I would like to hear what other 6 Plus users are experiencing? We heard 10 complained to apple but if that is 10 out of 10 million then I'm not gonna be worried lol

Same here. I've had mine for 10 days now. I haven't changed any of my behavior in the way I use it versus my prior iPhone 4. I work in the yard with it listening to my tunes daily in the hot Phoenix sun. and drive around with it in my pocket. and still Flat as a board. :apple: :)

Are you here just to trash apple? Do you even have an iPhone plus? I do and my phone is fine despite daily use. I can promise I don't plan on clutching my phone and bending the crap out of it like the guy in the video did because that is not realistic use and stupid... But yeah if you take a thin **** of aluminum and try to bend it of course it will bend. I don't need a video to see that

I sure do, a 128 Space grey. And I have to admit its an excellent sample. I have to admit that I am within the 2 week return period and deciding if I will keep it as my daily phone.

Frankly there is alot of BS flying on both sides of this "Bendgate". My view is Apple could have created a stronger phone, but instead gave us one that is weaker than the 5, question is how much weaker and how it holds up to daily use that is more than a week and a half......

In my opinion if it's taller and thinner than the 5S than obviously it's going to be a bit weaker. I trust consumer reports and others who have done actual tests on the device. Nothing I do puts 90 lbs of pressure on the phone. Time will tell but honestly I think "bendgate" will be forgotten soon

Do you bend over or anything like that with it in your pocket, or squat down

If believing a fake video from a random internet dude over Consumer Reports is what it takes to not be called an Apple apologist, then an apologist I am.

You realize your irrational arguments against Apple actually undermine any possibility of addressing REAL issues. The ones that really matter, not the ones people invent for profit or hate.

Ummm the consumer report, confirms this is the weakest iphone ever. That is my issue. I could careless about the unboxing therapy bloke. Proving if his video is fake is irrelevant to the issue at hand. Both CR and the bloke prove the same thing. The iphone 5 was much more durable. And its not a little step down either. Look at the numbers in CR report!

Im sorry, an iPhone bending under daily use is not a real issue. Guess you do not own one. Do you? I do, and it concerns me, maybe cause it cost me a lot of money!!!

Its been about a week and a half, how about we let this play out for another few weeks and see what happens.

The CR report is fine, the issue, its not a little bit weaker, and that is quoting the numbers in the report.

The other major factor in this issue is people body types. Skinny people have less to worry about, big people with large legs have alot more.

I play rugby and on the leg press push 380Kgs, so have very solid legs, with my body type, 90 lbs is nothing, and if I kept the phone in my pocket, it worries me.

So yeah, I love the phone, its excellent, though due to my physical build, I am not dismissing this as a non issue for me. The iphone 5s I had no such reservations.

I have the exact same phone as you. Same color and space. I don't know where you get that consumer reports said it's the weakest phone? It tested higher than the moto X M8. The plus even tested higher than the regular 6. The 5 only took 40 lbs more extra lbs than that

Edit : oh you said weakest iphone. That's true , but yeah you are right . Let's wait and see

The bending is false!! Proven! So Stop Feeding Trolls!

Read Here

Consumer Reports' summation is that the new iPhones are a lot less bendy that people were led to believe by an avowedly nonscientific YouTube exposition at Unbox Therapy, which involved the aforementioned bearded man.

But how much force is, say, 80 pounds? Well, these tests showed that the compression machine needed that much force to break down four pencils.

In essence, then, unless you have metal buttocks or merely an insanely aggressive bent, there's no real reason why any phone you choose should fold under pressure.

Please End this non sense.

To say the bending is false is not itself true either, though. There IS a bending issue, more so than with other phones. If anything, the Consumer Reports study proves this. But, is this issue big enough to warrant not buying the phone? No, not in my opinion. These are not hiking tools, they're electronic gadgets. They aren't supposed to withstand anything harsher than a woman's purse or some skinny jeans.

The bending is true. As stated, the CR reports in fact proves this, but it also shows that it is unlikely to bend under everyday use.

Anyone can just walk up to a 6 Plus and bend it with his bare hands, but it seems you have to TRY to do it:

http://www.businessinsider.com/i-wa...o-bend-the-iphone-6-plus-pretty-easily-2014-9

I took a peek around ... out of the side of my eye I happened to notice I was not the only person conducting this experiment. At least two others were doing the same at the same time. I went about my business.

After watching some of the videos online I knew what the supposed weak spot was. (From watching others, they were just guessing.) Taking my thumbs, I pressed and pushed in toward my hands that were firmly around the rest of the phone covering the entirety of the screen on the other side. It bent.

I held the phone up a bit to examine my handy work. It looked bent to me, but I was aware that it could look different in my mind’s eye given my goal. Maybe it had been this way. Soon, it didn’t matter.

“Hey, you bent the phone!” a girl next to me said. Her friend soon joined her to look. “I tried and couldn’t,” she said. Her friend echoed her statement. Soon I was surrounded by a group of 10 people.

“How did you do that?” asked someone else. “I used my hands,” I said. “I think it’s kinda cool they make it so it bends,” another said.

I think the pencil analogy actually represents the fallacy of Apple's and CR's test quite nicely. Those tests are not wrong or irrelevant. But they also don't show the whole picture. Are the forces exerted on your phone from your pocket or from an impact going to even distributed across the whole phone? Probably not.

Like a row of 4 pencils, the iPhone 6 holds up nicely when the forces are spread across the entire system.

But what happens if that pressure is exerted primarily on one side? What if one pencil was asked to take most of that load?

I'd like to see that test on several phones, including the iPhone 6, to see if there are any standout differences.

To All the Naysayers of Bendghazi

Here is my launch-day iPhone 6 Plus. This is the second time my iPhone has bent. I bent it back into shape the first time, but knew it would happen again. Of course, it isn't anywhere near as bad as when deliberately bending the phone near the volume buttons, but it still sucks nonetheless. And it's not so much a bend as it is a twist/torsion of the phone. My iPhone 6+ rides in my front pocket of my straight leg jeans. I was able to carry all of my prior iPhones (every iteration of the iPhone) in my back pocket, which I sat on religiously– all without bending. The iPhone 6+? I can't even carry it in my front pocket without it deforming. This is a problem. And with multiple people having difficulty returning the phone for a replacement, I won't even be able to complain about Bendghazi to Apple. If I do, Apple may not replace it and I'd be stuck with a twisting iPhone. So– 9 people complaining among 10 million, or many more just simply returning them? For your viewing (dis)pleasure...

Something tells me you tried sitting in this one as well and you bent it. But hey, what do I know.

I think that a long aluminum device is much more likely to bend when being worn in tighter jeans like the ones pictured by the OP. I expect that the device would bend under the stress given. Somebody needs to do tests with different type jeans to see what kind of stress is exhibited during sitting down, etc. I'd be curious to see the results! This jeans look pretty tight and cramped for that phone. I don't expect metal to not bend if enough pressure is there.
