Still prefer the slate option. Grphite might look nice on its own but the black plastic bars at the top and bottom make it look weird. Why can't Apple bring unified colored iPhone?
So what is so innovative about 5S? Different colour? Fingerprint scanner? Faster CPU?Increasing the screen size is innovation? LoL kiddo, there are tradeoffs if the resolution increased especially the apps that will not be optimized by it and developers who will consider another different resolution.
I just switched from an iPhone 4 to an S4. I got sick of waiting for a worthwhile upgrade from Apple. It will take more than a 5" screen to get me back - it will take the following:
- Real customization features
- Widgets (see above)
- SBSettings-like feature out of the box
- SD slot
- user-replaceable/upgradable battery (I loved the extreme light weight of my S4 but I just had to upgrade the battery - now I have a 7500mah battery and it is well worth the bulk; I can watch multiple movies and play games for a FULL day and still have a good amount of runtime left at the end of the day)
- USB host mode (I love that I can plug in a keyboard and mouse and actually use it much like a PC)
- Compatibility with standardized devices, such as MHL 2.0 interfaces
- 1080p resolution
- 2 GB RAM
- "virtual" buttons in addition to home (like Android's Back and Menu buttons)
- Better task management
I think they're only going to do 2 colors for the 5S, 'Black and Graphite' and 'White and Gold'. This way they'll assure consumers that if they get the 5S, people will know that you got a 5S and not a 5. Yes, it's somewhat silly, but it was a major complaint in the 3GS and the 4S, so they're kind of fixing that with new colors on the 5S. I don't think they'll do all 4 colors on the 5S, as they'll want to keep the color variety for the iPhone 5C.
And the iPhone 5C will probably be a re-packaged iPhone 5 in new plastic colors.
It looks like the innovation for the two new iPhones is different colors and plastic.
Apple has never added LED's to make their logo glow in any of their products and they aren't going to start now. Wishful thinking, not going to happen.
I get the distinct impression from all these leaks that these are sanctioned controlled leaks by Apple. Note that all the leaks show only superficial changes - like colors or a oval shape for the new dual-LED. Yet, there hasn't been a single leak of the front and the rumored fingerprint sensor. Nor any of the internal parts which would serve as a "smoking gun".
If Apple really wanted to keep the fingerprint sensor under wraps, a good way to do it would be to distract the public and the media with controlled releases of things that don't really matter to Apple if they got leaked. Let's face it, none of what we're seeing is much of a surprise to anyone who follows Apple rumors.
Neither is the fingerprint sensor, but the implementation of it is probably something they want kept a complete secret. If these guys are getting leaked parts like cases, why couldn't they get the other parts as well? Thousands if not millions of complete phones must be built by now so you KNOW they exist.
Isn't going to happen. You might as well add "world peace" and "cats and dogs, living together!" to that list.
I don't think they're going with the NFC route. It's just not that common in the US. I think Apple's own implementation will involve the usage of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and what they briefly revealed at WWDC - iBeacon. Do a Google search on it and I think you'll find it interesting. Possibly the most interesting thing that will come on Sept 10.

They've offered multiple colors before with the plastic iMac, the iPod Mini, and currently, the iPod Touch. I'd say they have a pretty good idea of what % of colors to produce.
No black no sale.
What about flash..? Are we missing something here?SD card and removable battery! What about flash?

As you bother to read this thread AND come up with the usual rubbish, you can't deny that you wish you could get the iPhone 5S too, if you had the cash.
*Ahem* Please go check out their MacBook lineup.
It will not be name champagne. Champagne is a trademark all over the world due to the alcoholic beverage.

I don't think they would add LEDs to make the logo glow. However, I seem to recall that some models of the plastic iBooks and early MacBooks had a translucent window which used the screen backlight to make a glowing Apple logo when the computer was closed. Did I hallucinate that? Possible, this would have been during college for me.
