Buy.com just listed the 80GB for 243.00.

It shows $231.49. There are also 5-10% coupons available to reduce it even lower. Great price for anyone who is in the market for the 80GB version.

mfrenkie, if you live in a state that buy.com doesn't charge tax, this could have been a great deal for you.

While waiting for the order to be shipped, let me ask a question:

Do I need to do anything specific other than putting the drive in, booting from SL DVD, formatting the drive using Disk Utility and installing SL?

Thanks!

That's all you need to do. :)

yeah it's a very straight forward process. You'll get that SSD up and running in no time with Snow Leo.

BTW, where did you get your SSD at?

EDIT:
Looks like the drives are not showing up anymore on buy.com

Buy.com on Ebay

Picked up the SSDSA2MH160G2R5 from Buy.com on Ebay for $452 - 8% Bing Rebate - 2% Ebay Bucks = about $407 total.

I should be getting it on Thursday. Can't wait

I ended up ordering from Amazon (I had few gift certificates from them + no tax). Although their web page says 2-5 weeks, I called them and was told that it should be delivered early-mid next week. We'll see...

Looks the 160Gb drive is out but they still have the 80Gb drives.

Shouldn't they just say "back ordered or not in stock", instead of "deactivated item"? It sounds like this particular product is no longer in production and is replaced with a new model, which is exactly the opposite :D

Missed it :( now i have to wait, again.

Anyone know a place where I can buy a 160GB drive (intel x25m G2)? Needs to ship to the US but accept non-US credit card.

I ordered a drive where they had a few in stock but it sold out. On backorder now.

Try Amazon. They have 2-4 weeks ETA, but in most cases they ship earlier, and they take non-US credit cards and deliver to a US address.
