That’s the case for you most likely? You have no idea what features will compel you to get the new pair Lol.

According to the rumors they'll have wireless charging which I don't need. And I'm not sure what the health thing would be, but if I were interested in that I would've gotten an Apple Watch which I didn't. I'm just trying to say that I'm happy with what I've got.

Why on earth would you want health monitoring features in airpods? That's what the Apple Watch is for. Spare the health features and stick to other improvements. I fully expect to hear about a new Apple Pencil with "health monitoring features" next year now...

So that you don't need the watch. Some people don't want to wear an Apple Watch. Health tracking on the Airpods AND Siri, would allow them to get the benefits of the watch without having to wear one (i.e., you get Music/Podcasts AND health tracking.)

I like my Apple Watch but let's face it, it's kind of ugly compared to the nice watches out there. . .

They nearly doubled it from the 7 to the X... so ...
No they didn't, but keep telling yourself yourself that. The iPhone 7 is also not a comparable phone to the X.

You can compare the $769 iPhone 7 Plus to the $999 X, which is a 30% increase. The Xr is $749, so it's $10 actually less expensive than the 7 Plus and has a bigger screen, FaceID, more storage, etc.

iPhone 7 32GB - $649
iPhone 7 Plus 32GB - $769
iPhone Xr (the Phone that is actually comparable to the iPhone 7) - $749
iPhone X $999

Would love to see how you calc a 100% price increase.

I need a new MacBook Pro keyboard design. Also work on the durability of your display ribbon cables.
It would be great if the display itself could be more sturdy.
A smaller trackpad would be great. I'm not a DJ, nor do I use Photoshop without a real mouse.
Cheers.

For me, the only reason I didn’t keep mine was they don’t fit my ear holes. Or the left one, anyway. Unless they find some way of custom fitting my ear canals, I can’t use them.

That's another reason for price increase right there, an improved Apple product deserves a price increase.

I'm planning on grabbing a pair finally! Well, in the fall when I upgrade my iPhone too. (Still rocking a great 6S+ with a new battery).

I can imagine they can add a temperature measurement system like these thermometers you put in the ear. It seems easier to do that now, Apple is even selling a wand you wave at your face and it allegedly measures your temperature. Sounds like the technology is here already. Then next step will be blood pressure monitoring…

Airpods is one product which needs no changing at all feature and functionality wise. The health monitoring and water resistance is nice and all... but I really don't want to pay extra for all of that. Just give me increased battery life, and I am a happy camper. After 1.5 years, I still get excellent battery life. And I use them a LOT on a daily basis.
Hopefully don’t screw up a great product. Knowing my temperature From AirPods isn’t changing the health industry or mankind.

O, the innovation!
Innovation takes place inside under the plastic. At a minimum know these will have wireless charging and improved BT connectivity.
That’s reasonable progress for what was already a nearly flawless execution.

DigiTimes is notoriously unreliable, but this report is nonetheless interesting: what if you could use the ear as a second lead for the EKG?

Apple is also said working on third-generation AirPods that are set to be released in 2020 with a new design and perhaps improved water resistance that will allow the AirPods to hold up to "splashes of water and rain."

The AirPods aren't likely to be entirely water resistant, however, and won't be able to be submerged in liquid.
Erm, they already can. Maybe not officially, but it’s widely documented that they can. “Splashes of water and rain”? How about a 30-minute wash cycle and then 5 minutes under a foot of water (during which they played)?

Starting at $299.
Which would increase them to the same price as many other higher end BT buds without the W chip.

I'm interested in the "health monitoring features". What could they possibly monitor from your ear? Your ear wax quality?

You can monitor body temperature, respiration rate and heart rate and do it much more reliably than the wrist. Probably O2 saturation too. You can also check blood sugar in the earlobe, so perhaps they could sense it there too.

The ear is actually much better for monitoring many things than the wrist due to the stability there. e.g. for counting steps and overall movement, the ear is better.

All that said, I am not a fan of having a radio transmitter right by the side of my head.

Personally, I don't understand the appeal... but then again I've never tried them. I've heard that the sound quality is mediocre, and while I get that the device switching is convenient. Seems weird to walk around with those things in completely shutting out the world not being aware of surroundings. I have a pair of Aftershokz Titaniums, and I love them. The sound quality is still mediocre, but I can wirelessly listen and still be aware of surroundings. It's great for cycling, driving, doing stuff around the house, not getting attacked in a parking lot, etc.

No. Technology in general is improving all the time and prices tend to stay pretty much the same with the earlier stuff getting cheaper.

$0.20/day.
Worth it.

I fancy some but I'd be wanting a two year guarantee (available from at least one UK store), which would make them 21p / day, which isn't so bad. If the batteries are bad towards the end of that period, you could end up with replacements to take you past the two years.

However, with new ones maybe just around the corner, I'm inclined to wait.

Apple Pencil 3 will monitor for hand shake that is an early sign of neurological and degenerative conditions, or drunk messaging.

So weren't been paying attention to Apple products for several years now. Too bad only this year people start noticing and some still didn't notice until now.

I bought a pair of the current model because I'm interested in the hearing assistance function: "Live listening". I'm not at all happy with them. Here's my list of suggested improvements:
* switch to a unit more similar to the high quality wired Apple earphones, with rubber membrane seals that help hold them in place. The current design doesn't fit my ears well and is not flexible enough to be adjusted.
* Put the electronics up behind the ear like a good hearing aid, instead of sticking out like Frankenstein bolts.
* Do live listening like a hearing aid, without significant delay from processing time in the remote device.
* Do this at a price point well below the cost of hearing aids that have bluetooth and can serve as earphones.
Note: I had to restart my phone the first time I actually wanted to use them, because the switch to turn on live listening was inoperative until I did that.

I think that most of us know how much Apple prices have risen. My response was to the statement 'an improved Apple product deserves a price increase', which I disagree with.

Didn’t even know they were not supposed to be water resistant. Fell into the pool with them once last year and they r still working fine.

The left one however broke once before that happened and Apple was so cheap to only replace the broken one so now my left one holds battery almost 20% longer than the right one. Quite annoying

Mine survived a round in the washing machine in the case. After a 5 day dry out, the mic on the right AirPod no longer works and the case battery doesn't charge, but both AirPods are charged in the case when it's plugged in. I'll be better at checking my pockets from now on. More water resistance please!
