I don't know why some people think a slightly smaller iPad will go for $200 less and retain all the features of the current iPad. I'm a university student, so I know what its like to be on a tight budget, but honestly just save the extra $200 even if this comes out because from experience, an iPad smaller than this would be incredibly difficult to type in for long periods of time.

While the screens are the most expensive parts of the iPad, you realize that it's not as if they aren't making a relatively large margin as it is right? It would be smarter to just drop the prices of them rather than have to struggle producing 12 different units at once.

Plus I mean, its not as if the current iPad isn't still sold out in many spots and hasn't even launched fully internationally yet.

They will update the iPods for sure!

but I just can't see what the use of a smaller iPad is? Just keep to the iPad as it is, don't bring out bigger or smaller ones! Just update the iPad on a yearly basis!

iPhone? sorry but WTF? So they're going to bring out the white IPHONE 4 near the end of the year, and then in the matter of a month or two... maybe 3 they will bring out iPhone 5? This will piss of people, alot of people...plus I don't think as much people will buy the new iPhone compared to if it comes out July/June. I would certainly buy it after having the iPhone 4 for a year, but I wouldn't at christmas/early '11 : /

IF they are bringing a new iPhone out, then they better give all us iPhone 4 users a choice to have it replaced to the new model. I doubt this will happen, they'd lose too much money building them, shipping etc then having to do it all again for the next iPhone. It just doesn't make sense!

iPhone 4 came out 24th June 2010.
Until June/July 2011, they should focus on re-designing the iPhone, and bring it out on their normal schedule!

I don't understand why people are so angry over putting bumper case on iphone 4. I personally love the bumper case. It makes the grip less slippery and I find it quite stylish too. plus it's free.

also, even if the antenna issue did not exist, people should've been seeking for a case/bumper anyways because of potential crack when you drop it.

Some Apple users are just too damn unreasonable.

Color me a bumper convert too. I only ordered it because it was free, but now that it's on the phone, I really like it.

I wouldn't have paid $30 for it though...

If Apple wants to be the #1 mobile computing-device maker they prob. will make cheaper/smaller devices for those smaller segment of users.

There are too many iPad versions out there now (6 models)

We don't need any more.

If apple releases a new iPhone just to attend the antenna issue, then theres gonna be an uproar, as they should recall all iphone 4's if they've found a way to fix the problem.

7" is the worse size compromize.

A 7" 4:3 pad makes no sense at all.

It isn't small enough to pocket and it isn't small enough to comfortably grasp in one hand. They may do it but it sounds like a Miss to me. I would much rather:

5"-6" with 3:2 form factor and IP4 960x640 resolution would be perfect one hand tablet (similar to streak). This gets you easy one handed use and some ability to put in large pockets at least. Also perfect for Point of Sale terminals for wait staff at restaurants.

iPad mini? iPhone 5??? we have a better chance of these being the new line of MacBook Airs.... really??? new iPods are definitely a possibility. If only i wasn't peripheral'd to the max right now

I'm torn right now on the eternal "Buy now or wait?" question. I want to buy an iPad this weekend. But will Apple update them in September with the iPod line? Or will they follow the typical yearly update cycle of the iPod/iPhone, meaning I'll have until April before my iPad is the "old model?"

I really want one badly now, but I don't want buyer's remorse in September. :(

I don't see anything wrong with an iPhone 4 Rev. B being released in the September time frame. I would speculate that a new antenna design would be the only thing changed, but the housing would see no changes in form factor so all the current iPhone 4 cases would work for revision B.

Steve invited all the current iPhone 4 users who experience problems to return the phone or use a case. No one has a leg to stand on complaint wise. The old version still does everything the new versions does.

I don't understand why people think 7" iPad is a bad idea.

Let's make this simple: how many people would buy a 7" iPad?

Speak up and tell me what you would use it for?

I would buy it right away. Been waiting for something like for years.

I remember how badly some people acted on a previous rumour about an iPad with a smaller screen. It also raises the issues, whether it should be called iPod Touch or iPad Nano.

I'd love a 7" one.

Wow. That would be a huge middle finger to the people who just bought an iPhone. I know technology evolves quickly, but 6 months?! That's just ridiculous.

Don't take it personally. It's just progress.

Which market will it be for then? I'm not aware of CDMA even being used in Europe, but correct me if I'm wrong. If apple create a device specifically for the non-us market, this will be a first. It's also very, very unlikely.

China :) I expect a CDMA version to land there before anywhere else. If they in fact make one.

I do hope this is all a load of bull. I was worried when they didn't have a 64GB model as I would have gone for that in a heartbeat. Hopefully they don't release a 64GB model in Jan as it would really bug me. But I'm not about to bite the bullet and get it, I'll have to wait.

If it had the better display of the iPhone 4, it would make a superb e-reader in addition to all the multimedia and apps it can run.

It is not so unthinkable that Apple comes out with a newer version of this iphone in such a short space of time, it has happened before with other products.

They will want to clean the image and bad press while also sorting out the main problems the Iphone4 has been having and that are widely reported.

It will probably have some extras and look similar to this one but it will definitely be a big improvement. They will tell people that it’s a normal product cycle when the Iphone 4 users start to complain.

It may not be Iphone 5 but it might be Iphone 4 s. Good luck with your Iphone 4, thank god I waited. By then there will be more choice with meego and gingerbread to keep Apple on its toes.

I wouldn't be surprised in the least if Apple released a 7" iPad. It would probably be based on the Retina Display—which I would love. 7" is lots of space if the pixel density is high.

If there is one rumour that I hope is absolute crap and that is the one about a smaller iPad. if there is one thing we don't want and need is a smaller iPad. That is called an iPod touch.

Make a better iPad and not a smaller one.

Praying that apple doesn't flood the market with products for their bottom line and not for the people. It will bugger apple in the end.

Most cell phone makers release new phones every month. I don't see the big deal.

The next iPhone won't be iPhone5, btw, it will obviously be iPhone 4G. The timing is too perfect not to do it. Phone will be dual band on Sprint Wimax and Verizon LTE.

You want ridiculous, buy an Android device, which will be topped by another Android device by another manufacturer 2 weeks later.

Or you could buy a BlackBerry Storm 2, still on sale yet won't be upgradable to the new BlackBerry 6 OS released in a couple of weeks.

Or you could have bought a Microsoft KIN, only to watch Microsoft kill the product entirely a few weeks later.

Yeah, 6 months seems pretty good after all.

Don't see the need for a 7 inch iPad. The size now is perfect and any smaller would be too small. I think Apple spent a long time figuring out the perfect size for the iPad, and don't see them adding a smaller version. You have the iPhone/iPod touch size, and the iPad. No need for anything in between.

I beg to differ... Coupling 'retina display' technologies with a 7" ipad would be amazing. I do think that 10ish" is a sweet spot, but I think iPod Touch/iPhone, iPad 7" and 9" and Macbook Air (13") are the complete line.

and iPad 7" is the
- Camera
- VidCam
- e-Reader
- app platform
- game platform

that is really optimal for the consumer. Me personally... my iPhone is great, for most things, but a bit cramped to work with... a 10" iPad is too big for just sticking in my cargo pants and jumping on my bike. a 7" would be perfect.

also.. there may be a 'purse' dimension issue for women. How many daytimers are a 7" diagaonal form factor for that reason?
