You're missing the point.Droid Eris, Droid X... am I missing any?
Why do guys like you insist this is "fact?" Fact is, I can't cause my phone to die by the death grip, even after 4-5 minutes. So far, I'm good.
Is it just me, or does everyone find the comments to these stories far more insightful than the crap article?![]()
I'll be pissed if a new iPhone comes out in January. well, unless it's the white one.
Oh, and thanks for kicking that dead Verizon horse one more time. God I'm so sick of hearing that crap.
Ok, what I'm getting at is if Apple goes a route of multiple phone releases in a year, they'd be different lines of devices separate from the iPhone. It would be poor marketing alone to go from iPhone 4 to 5 to 6 within a year. If they're putting out iOS on more than one phone release, the hardware should be very different and on unique cycles; like Motorola is doing.Droid Eris - Released in November 2009
Droid Incredible - Released in April 2010
Droid X - Released in July 2010
(Yes, two different manufacturers here, yet all fall under Verizon's silly "Droid" brand.)
Do they? How? How many of the "informed public" actually own Iphone 4s? How many Iphone 4 owners actually complain about the "factual flaw(s)" you point out? What people read and subsequently believe and reality are two very different things. My Iphone 4 is a huge improvement over the previous generation Iphone.
As Louis CK said, "Everything's amazing and no one is happy." Iphone 4 is amazing. I'm choosing to be happy.
Are you serious? Have you not heard of Android? This schedule would still be much more concise than what you get with Android phones, and allow Apple to combat the problem of tech being outdated within 6 months (the time frame of new tech becoming "old tech" is only going to keep shrinking, see Moore's Law).
- iPhone: The fifth-generation iPhone may be set to launch as early as January in order to address antenna issues with the iPhone 4. It is unclear whether the new iPhone would be a major redesign or simply a tweak to address the antenna problems. While not mentioned in the report, the redesign could coincide with the much-rumored Verizon iPhone highly anticipated by many potential customers.
The report also addresses the iPhone 4 bumpers, with claims that Apple may be preparing to release a new, all-silicone bumper for the iPhone 4 that would provide the company with a cheaper solution to address the device's antenna issues. The report's source also claims that Apple considered shipping the iPhone 4 with bumpers from the very beginning, implying that the company was aware of a potential antenna issue.
How about the Classic iPod? Haven't heard a peep about that.....
You're missing the point.
iPhone is A line of hardware. It's on a yearly cycle. iOS is an operating system. It's currently on a yearly cycle.
Droid is a line of hardware.
Droid X is a different model.
Drois Eris is a different model.
might be a Kindle killer at $199![]()
So does Apple have to always wait one year between iPhone releases? What about the people who didn't get the iPhone 4 and want a new phone in February. Should their only option be a phone that is 8 months old and about to be replaced? If they release the iPhone 5 just fixing the antenna issue I would not care too much as I do not have that issue...if they release one with other hardware enhancement I would then be pissed to see mine not having it just 6 month later...In all cases i really doubt Apple is going to launch a new iPhone 6 months later than the previous one.

Wow this is going to piss off a lot of people!

Isn't January a little early? It'll throw a /lot/ of people with contracts off.
Wow. That would be a huge middle finger to the people who just bought an iPhone. I know technology evolves quickly, but 6 months?! That's just ridiculous.
Your original point was that it makes sense to refresh the iPhone more frequently to keep up with all of the hardware the Android OS is on. That point is valid, I just disagree with it (and Apple or any manufacturer would, too). Putting iOS on a different, UNIQUE line of hardware that has its own cycles makes more sense if you want to keep something new coming out more frequenltly. So the iPhone released each January could be a different "model". Either way, my point remains valid.
