Not thinner?

Interesting in that this doesn't look any thinner than 4S. But previous leaks have said it's up to a third thinner.

The front screen protrudes from the device on a 4/4S and is not included in the picture. We don't know to what extent it does on the new iPhone.

It will most certainly still have the front glass and we don't know how much it will stick out, if any.

Actually the back glass is on there, the 4S is just missing the front glass. I thought the 5 was supposed to be as thin as the metal band around the 4S/4. Even if the front glass of the 5 fits flush inside the frame, it is not as thin as people have been saying...

Honestly, that new iPhone, I hope to see some major design differences, and not just a thinner and longer one...

One thing that I'm sure if Jobs was alive, he wouldn't approve, the amount of holes for speaker and mic, it's different, asymmetric and it looks a non-apple product... we are missing Jobs perfectionism.

Don't forget he wouldn't have it with seams either.

Is that the speaker on the right? So all those holes on the bottom right, yet the speaker appears to be the same size as the iPhone 4/4s?

Maybe I am just being cranky, but if the speaker is not going to be bigger then what is the point of all the holes. Keep in mind, I just do not like the holes, I prefer the 4/4s look. Anyone else agree?

All these rumors, wow

We pretty much have the full phone in pieces.

Random thought but imagine if apple released something totally different. That would be nuts:D:D:D:D

I'm really glad they're going back to the "Open from front" design they had with the 3G/3GS. Makes it much easier to replace the screen/digitizer. And in addition to that, it's looking like the battery won't be too hard to replace either (Recent designs have been one or the other). Hopefully this will be the most repairable iPhone yet.

Pretty sure it's been reported he was very very much involved in this next gen handset.

Call me crazy

Earlier this year, Tim Cook made it clear Apple would jump through hoops to make sure things aren't leaking the way they are nowadays...

Now we have a full iPhone 5. Am I crazy to say these are Apple leaks, but of a fake iPhone 5? I think Apple is manufacturing fake parts and leaking them to confuse the public.

I don't think the new iPhone is going to look like this. It doesn't make sense to me. The S3 looks nicer to be honest..

When has Apple released a phone that isn't instantly the best phone on the market in almost every way? My two cents.

I'll just leave this here. I'm calling fake on iResQ

What are you on about? Crooked? Have you noticed that the sides aren't flush on the phones? The headphone jack side of the top is closer than the other side. It may also be on an uneven surface.

I know the back glass is there. Imagine your 4/4S without the front glass. It's a significant portion of the thickness.

I noticed this immediately (go OCD!)... That kind of sloppiness when it comes to design doesn't seem like Apple's M.O. I think this is a fake or at least a mock-up (although I tend to think the shape/form factor is going to have to be close). Maybe all of these "leaks" are manufacturing line rejects that people are pulling out of the "garbage," so-to-speak?

few words:

FIRST AN MOST IMPORTANT: No iPhone Leak is credible if the Piece/Part isn't found "missing" at some Malibu Bar (or any bar near Cupertino).

Second: APPLE use to build few CONCEPTUAL prototypes for :

1 Feature Test.

2 Hardware quality Test.

3 Manufacturing Process Test.

Very Often those Prototypes NEVER see a Product Line, and Most are SHORT-RUN Builds.

Apple may have ordered 1000 units of such "iPhone 5" while keeping on DEEP SECRET the REAL and Complete Different New iPhone (6th gen) -most likely-.

Those Short-Run Prototypes also are sent to Software Partners for Applicantion & Game development that require some "real" hardware to validate.

I Bet every thing I have to the next iPhone really is a complete different design, may keep most especifications (specially screen Resolution), but a complete new Case Is most likely to come.

From the Patents I have been Following, the Next iPhone must have some Ceramic Body instead Alluminun / Steel or Gorilla Glass, (much better Radio, ligther, and Premium Jewel-Look).

Don't forget he wouldn't have it with seams either.

I'll bet you those seams kept him up at night. I guarantee he personally loathed them, but they were there for a reason. I agree with the original poster...I miss Steve's fanatical perfectionism. I don't think Apple is headed down the tubes or anything, but unless you are a perfectionist, its hard to understand.

As long as I can watch my Swedish Chef, I'll be happy.

Those little tiny holes and dirt don't mix. The new phone will be a lot harder to do minor repairs yourself also being you have to fool with the screen now to open.

At this rate, the rumor sites will have a fully operational iPhone 5 before the announcement.

EDIT:
Ventilation for the fans. The new A6 chip runs HOT.

Fans? No fans. No phone has fans. Ever. Think of the battery consumption, noise, vibrations, inefficiency. The metal back is all the iPhone 5 will need for heat dissipation.

Plus, we're probably getting the A5X, following the past trends. If you think the iPhone 5 will have fans, you couldn't know anything about the next Apple chip.

How about last summer when the 4S came out? Very good - 'but not the best phone on the market in every way.'
