It's not symmetric in this case for a reason. There is no reason why the speaker grills should be asymmetric, it's just ugly. Notice how the antenna break lines up with the camera? Or how the distance between the headphone jack and the side of the phone, and the power button and the side of the phone is the same?

That was kinda my point - somebody said that the iPhone Stretch was asymmetrical and it is. The argument that the 4 and 4S have the same lack of symmetry is flat-out wrong.

IF this is all Apple has, they've already lost. We can only hope that all these "leaks" are as fake as last year's 'certainty'. At least the teardrop design excited the public, this won't.

Galaxy SIII is the new hot phone and Apple has to come up with something that LOOKS better than it, now that they're mainstream. Joe Public has to be able to walk into a store and look at Samsung, and realise iPhone is better - on sight alone, because the price will be higher and salespeople get better kickbacks from Samsung.

Foxcon's boast that the next iPhone will blow Samsung out of the water sounded more like Microsoft's "If you think iPhone is great, wait 'till you see Windows Phone" - misguided B.S.

All the new ads on television (Australia) feature Galaxy SIII running the advertiser's Android app. iPhone is so yesterday. These "leaked" parts won't win over the public. Die hards will buy iPhone, but it's not hot anymore - despite all the measured anticipation.

Anticipation for the next iPhone will only translate into sales if it lives up to the public's expectation, which is much higher than the nerds here.

Apple has turned into blockbuster mentality - build expectation, sell a bundle the first weekend and hope the product has got legs to last to the next weekend. I wouldn't have said this in the past, but now that Apple has lost the lead, in the public's imagination, it's come down to this…

This Back Case is a FAKE because its speaker HOLES are CNC Drilled, While Apple use the much more Advanced (and refinated) LASER DRILLING for the Speaker Holes (see iPad, MackBooks), so it don't follow Apple manufacturng trends.

So, maybe those electronic parts are real, but this Alluminum Back IS A FAKE or a Short-Run prodution prototype for testing and software R&D.

----------

Another Key factor here are the Dock Connector color, if not Visible, why to color it?

Simple, because this connector is not destinated to such back, insteat to another Slimmer or "transparent".

If these leaks are all faked by apple then Tim cook is deff the perfect CEO for apple. That would mean he planted these fakes and has kept every real iPhone part out of our hands, which considering there making millions and millions is pretty incredible. But I would have to say that based on the last couple releases of a iPhone, that were looking at the iPhone 5.

At this rate, the rumor sites will have a fully operational iPhone 5 before the announcement.

EDIT:

Fans? No fans. No phone has fans. Ever. Think of the battery consumption, noise, vibrations, inefficiency. The metal back is all the iPhone 5 will need for heat dissipation.

Plus, we're probably getting the A5X, following the past trends. If you think the iPhone 5 will have fans, you couldn't know anything about the next Apple chip.

Good call on the fans, or should I say NO Fans, but to be honest, I doubt we are getting a A5X in the next iPhone. The "X" in the A5X is for the quad graphics capability to drive the retina screen of the iPad3. I think the next iPhone will just have the shrunken A5 with more RAM.

You just helped me remember that the iPhone 4/4s sides are steel and not aluminum. So that is a good point about the speaker holes and lasers, meaning Apple could do something a lot prettier with the speaker and mike holes. Unfortunately I think what we are seeing is the final look, and the big holes will remain.

NO, the next iPhone will have a 22nm A5X with lower Clock (maybe as low as 600MHZ) for ultra-low power drain, same part/ same memory as the new iPad (1GB Ram).

Sweet mother can somebody just pop off that shielding and see how much ram and what processor is in this thing?

That's the last thing I'm wondering - RAM slowly sips away at the battery, so going light there is not a bad idea. The processor is almost definitely the same as in the new iPad, as usual.

Honestly, that new iPhone, I hope to see some major design differences, and not just a thinner and longer one...

One thing that I'm sure if Jobs was alive, he wouldn't approve, the amount of holes for speaker and mic, it's different, asymmetric and it looks a non-apple product... we are missing Jobs perfectionism.

Jobs had no issues with only one button on the top, none on the right but some on the left...

Why? The iPhone does not need quad graphic capabilities (the screen is a lot smaller than a iPad Retina). Also some of the 1GB of RAM in the iPad3 is for graphics. The iPhone does not need that. I would not be surprised if the next iPhone has a A5 with 768MB of RAM (however I do think Apple will give 1GB). No need to waste battery with graphics that will not be used and RAM that is not required.

iPhone 5 Will not use Steel because need to save a lot of wheigt (because its bigger) so this is logical.

I bet on a combination of Sleek alluminum body with some Ceramic or Gorilla Glass Windows for Camera and RF Antennas (GPS/LTE need much better antennas than what its possible with a full alluminum unibody).

Simple: NEW MORE POWERFULL SOFTWARE and TRICKS requires MORE CPU/GPU/MEMORY, also is cheaper to re-use the A5X than to design another new.

A new a5X with 22nm process was reported, assumed will power the revised new iPad and the new iPhone, while the same 22nm A5 cpu on the revised iPad2 will power the "iPad mini".

Some of these comments about 'beating' Android, 'winning/losing' against Samsung are pathetic. This isn't a war. Apple go on their own way and are not in the business of making changes based on the trends of other competition.

My own theory ( might already been said before ). Apple will have three Iphones for fall. (1.) Cheaper Iphone 4S, (2.) Upgraded Iphone 4S taller (the leaked iphone ), and (3.) The next generation iphone :). This is just my theory lol

My theory...
They will giveaway the 4
They will reduce the 4S(maybe $99)
Then introduce the new one as the flagship device.
After a year, they will release an S version.

What's the thinnest phone on the market right now?

Can they even go thinner than that?

let's just use the iPod touch for example.(I know it's not a phone)

Can the current iPod touch go even thinner?

Unless they make the headphone jack smaller .....because seriously if you look at the iPod touch, there's almost no more space between the top and bottom of the headphone jack. That's the biggest part on the device

----------

One of the problem with the iPod touch is you can't use the headphone jack while the device is docked.

Umm, the antenna connector (long black wire) is connected directly into the metal back. Does this means that the whole back is an antenna? That would be crazy!!!

What i don't get is where all the space they saved has been put to use. They moved to a Nano sim slot, a smaller dock connector and the phone is even taller. Yet the battery capacity hasn't changed??

Well with wireless sync you wouldn't need to connect anymore, unless you're restoring, and even that can be done wirelessly. So there are small % of situations when that jack has to be used.

Has anyone considered that these parts can be for engineering prototypes of iPhones?

As we know, Apple often times makes several versions of hardware for field testing.

Like last year, the public product can be different than the leaks.

Trust me I do want the larger screen, so I am hoping this is it !!

Batteries are getting smaller and smaller, more compacted. Apple is pretty much using 2009 tech. I'm sure the new battery will have new chemical cocktail and packed like the new iPad's battery.

The ram on the A5X is not in the SOC. So why would Apple waste the space for the bigger A5X + RAM when they can use the smaller A5 with more RAM and not waste space? I still think the iPhone5 will be A5 with more RAM. The iPad mini will be the same as the iPhone5. The iPad4 will be an A6 (or A6X) with IGZO screen and finally the iPhone 5S will be A6.

Yes because Steve Jobs was the only one who knew how to design a product and the perfectionist at Apple.
