It's the 1st time I've seen an iFixit teardown in reverse actually weeks before the thing is even launched.

Not going to be much for them to show us this time about what's inside it as we've seen it all.... lol

Really hope that new power connector is a magsafe :) speakers look ugly tho, and wonky... Not usually mr ives style... Oh well, wont stop me getting one; just looks out of place.

Is it just me or does the power connector on that new iPhone looks like it's not quite fitting right?

eg. It's not flush with the bottom of the device where you would insert the plug Appears to be a gap?

Something is not right in here, look at the speakers location...

However this designs are fake or are designed for testing only because the design of iPhone 5 will be a lot much better.

Honestly, that new iPhone, I hope to see some major design differences, and not just a thinner and longer one...

One thing that I'm sure if Jobs was alive, he wouldn't approve, the amount of holes for speaker and mic, it's different, asymmetric and it looks a non-apple product... we are missing Jobs perfectionism.

You do realize that Jobs was working on the next iPhone (this one) well before the 4S was ever released?

You know, I kind of miss the days when we had no idea what the next apple product would look like until it was unveiled at a keynote. This takes all the fun out of it.

Why hasnt someone opened up a leaked logic board yet? Thats about all thats left now to know is what processor its running this thing.

still not sold

still not sold on the idea of a September 12 launch,
there is no way apple will launch 3 flagship products at once,

in terms of marketing it will be a killer,
ipods and iphone maybe, ipods and ipad maybe
but not iphone and ipad,
they will be forcing people to pick between the two.
which will drag down sales across the board for the first quarter,

im guessing ipad mini and ipods on September 12,
iphone later on

For everyone going on about the symmetry of the phone, we havent had an asymmetrical iphone yet, why do you expect one now??

Interesting in that this doesn't look any thinner than 4S. But previous leaks have said it's up to a third thinner.

I think it is only 1.5mm thinner.....
About the thickness of a credit card.

I'd have preferred it to be 1.5mm thicker if it meant a longer lasting battery.

This fixation on thin-ness is a bit ridiculous.

It's 2yr from iPhone 4 launch so many people will soon be free from its 2yr contract so they need a New iPhone, the new iPad mini it's just like another iPod in terms of acquisition.

epic fail if the headphone jack is at the bottom.

The idea is that keeping the iPhone in your pocket, removing it with the headphone jack at the bottom will allow one to view their iPhone without have to turn it around.

Much easier :)

If you still think this isn't the next iPhone, I'm sorry, but you're an idiot.

If it's not, and the screen size/PPI are different, iOS developers may be facing a difficult situation in preparing their applications based on the current iOS 6 beta's and Xcode (simply extending the display will not negatively impact retina display applications).

If the display remains the same, that's worse in my opinion.

Those are the two options we seem to be facing for the next model.

you cant stand it up with your headphones in. much more awkward :(
i had an ipod touch with the same issue, pain in the hole.

landscape mode (a little odd to watch a movie in portrait, but for FaceTime I could understand).

As well, look out for code in future beta's to allow the screen to flip vertically ;)

At this rate, the rumor sites will have a fully operational iPhone 5 before the announcement.

EDIT:

Fans? No fans. No phone has fans. Ever. Think of the battery consumption, noise, vibrations, inefficiency. The metal back is all the iPhone 5 will need for heat dissipation.

Plus, we're probably getting the A5X, following the past trends. If you think the iPhone 5 will have fans, you couldn't know anything about the next Apple chip.

Not only will it have 4 fans, but a pump for the water cooling.

All these leaks have taken away the suspense of the Sep 12th keynote. I am done with the iPhone after this underwhelming 'evolutionary' updates to the iPhone lineup.

All I am looking forward to now is a $199 iPad Mini. I will be going with a Android (with free wifi tethering) + the iPad Mini. That way I get the best of both iOS and Android worlds.

Connector

So why does the new connector need the front securing holes? The top down picture clearly shows that the connector is secured to the body. Maybe the holes are to be used for the magsafe option, or it's just a fake pic - hmmmm

As long as I can watch my Swedish Chef, I'll be happy.

^^^This is more entertaining than "iPhone, The Next Generation"

Instead of everyone repeating themselves, let's just make a poll:
Choose only per line.

1. a) I don't want it taller b) I like it taller c) needs to be wider too
2. a) Steve Jobs would never approve b) Uh, Steve had his hands in the next 100 generations
3. a) It's a a fake b) you're in denial c) Tim said "double down"
4. a) If this is it, I'm not buying it b) Shut up and take my money

That's about the gist of it. Funny enough, I haven't seen any complaints on the new dock connector. Is this the one thing we can agree on, or is that one nay-sayer here?
