Meanwhile, at least one developer has noticed actual "iPhone2,1" models in use based on PinchMedia ad serving reports. (Other numbers blurred out).
Can you explain the significance of this arn? Im confuzzed:confused:

I know I'll get in trouble for this, but...

...just like there was "evidence" that new iMacs and Mac Minis were coming due to those similar entries found a few months back?

That said, I fully expect a new version/model of the iPhone this year based on two criteria. One, it's been 9 months (will likely be a year) since the last version was announced. Apple needs to stay current and/or ahead of their competition. Two, the original 1G subscribers 2 year agreements will be expiring and Apple/AT&T need leverage to get them to stay and/or upgrade.

The NEW, new iPhone! Now with Copy and Paste!™*

*Copy and Paste™ feature requires monthly $9.99 service charge in addition to new two-year AT&T rate plan, sold separately to qualified customers.

This is sooooo true. hahahahahahah

Kinda like 99 cents just to make a ringtone... lol

Copy & Paste and video recording would be great new features, should be relatively easy.

Longer battery life, better reception and snappier interface would be good improvements, but might be more difficult.

On top of these, if there is a very good turn-by-turn GPS that can play allows music to play through when it is not giving directions and keep on operating even if you start talking on the phone, I'd be very happy.

Interesting. I was thinking that either a new iPhone is very near of we're stuck with 2.2 for 6 months. (not really stuck, I just like software updates. It makes me feel special.) I would need to add that to the list.

i know the feeling... even if they do absolutely nothing i still love getting them

When a new model number sneaks its way into the firmware, how long can we expect the product itself to come out?

One thing's for sure: It won't be an iPhone nano.

...But then again one can never tell.

im siding with you here... an iphone nano would make sense because it wouldnt be compatable w/ any of the current app store apps (screen size)

Why not iPhone HD, I mean what more hardware can you add. Brushed aluminum case? Wireless charging? Gestures? So much other stuff is just "updates".

i will be a hopeful.

i dont care about video recording.
i dont wish for mms.
i would love to see better battery.
i would really love to see landscape txt and email.
also...push services please.

Iphone Edge?

What is with the iPhone Edge? I though that may be gen 1, but there is iPhone, iPhone 3g, and iPhone Edge. Am I missing something?

Yay! Finally some news about a new iPhone. I can't wait to upgrade from my old 1st gen. EDGE speeds are starting to get to me. lol. :D

my dad just got a 3G and now i hate the speeds of my 1G... ill be able to gloat when i get this though

This is great news. I hope the 3rd Gen iPhone has a no data option with AT&T. I would rather pay $400 to buy an iPhone and not have to pay the extra $30 a month for data. I see no need to have data anyways when I am around WiFi most of the time.

PinchMedia served 2 ads to someone or someones using a 2,1iPhone and this developer's app.

arn

I hope someone's using the G3 so maybe we could leaks before it comes out.

no theyre the same thing... offically its called the iPhone and the iPhone 3G but people use iphone edge and first gen iphone for the original and then iphone 2, second gen iphone and what not for iphone 3G

Before everyone starts throwing around rumors of a triple-core CPU/VPU-based secret prototype with a high-power mobile GPU... how do we know that this is not simply the hardware revision the 2nd-gen Touch got? A slightly revised mobo, a newer CPU model, etc.--meaning it should be faster and have better battery life, but not that it is a completely new device.
