On my AT&T OLAM under "check upgrade eligibility" it says July 09". This is good news I guess. I bought my 3G on day 1.

Can anyone else confirm their upgrade elgibility?

AT&T upgrade eligibility has nothing to do with Apple product releases.
It's based upon when you signed your contract/last upgraded(read bought a new) phone.
It's for re-registering a new phone with AT&T (for features like voicemail alerts etc), so the employees at AT&T don't have to waste hours registering new phones whenever people decide to swap out their sim to a new phone (sometimes at a drop of a hat).

Highly unlikely. More likely would be via bluetooth.

What? That would be completely NUTS! Why would they use that slowish interface instead of WIFI...
Instead, I hope they upgrade wifi to N and 5ghz...Wonder how many TC/AE/AExpress users are forced to stick to 2,4ghz just to allow their iPhone/iPod to connect to the home network...

son stop spamming useless comment to lvl up your membership. It's quite annoying. Also your signature is such an eyesore.

Children.... Sigh

No kidding. At least learn to use multi-quote.

I just bought an iPhone 3G, so I guess I won't be eligible for this new phone when/if it ever arrives. That will give early adopters time to work out the bugs for me :D

Ditto!

And I think this is when the market is going to see the true genius of the app store. After a year of loading up on iphone applications, realistically there is no way I am going to switch to a Bold, Android, Pre, Nokia, or whatever. Unless there is an Earth shattering breakthrough unique to some other phone, I'm locked into the iphone universe and will be buying a new iphone every other June or so rather than switch and trash all the software I've invested time & money into. I expect the same is true of almost all iphone users.

Very true and ditto, hence the genius of Apple :D

It doesn't have bluetooth?

I was just about to say that.
The iPhone has had bluetooth since Gen 1 Day 1.
It's just a hobbled version for handsfree systems/headsets.

Current iPhones = Bluetooth Misery

Haha! I love that movie. She was CRAZY & obsessed with that man & Misery! I can't believe she burned up his book that he wrote just because Misery died in it, lmao!

Security, for one reason.

Give me 1280 by 720 resolution screen
4 core cpu- with one core dedicated to ui and one to system software
keep the overall length and width and thickness, but increase the relative screen size to the edges more- maybe get .25 increase in screen size diagonally
Bluetooth that connects to wireless headphones
faster processor
more storage
better battery
time, recent smss, recent emails, recent missed calls all displayed on the screen even when sleeping
better speaker
CONSOLIDATED EMAIL INBOX LIKE MAC MAIL
Email search
copy and paste
camera in front for ichat with video
camera in back that uses that new tech so there is no lag when you move the camera and look at the viewfinder
better camera in back

And I'll buy! :)

Yay! I can't wait. A real excuse to dump my first gen iphone.

After seeing the Pre, the only thing I want from the next gen hardware is running apps simultaneously. And better integration with sms/chat etc.. like the pre is doing. Less in your face notices and keeping it more background and easily accessible etc etc..

Love wireless syncing and tight integration with mobile me and newer mobile me/iphone services.

Security, for one reason.

I can't see any security issue in syncing iPhone and your Mac via wifi:
- the phone has to be a "known" iphone to iTunes on the machine (possibly the first time via USB)
- you use a well secured WPA MAC address whitelisted wifi network

So what's to worry about security....

How is it that the pre can do that?
better battery? Better software? Better hardware?

I hope for the next iphone i can hook a screen and keyboard to it. Cause I dont really need anything more!

How are they doing it? They are.. it's called more refined software :)

AT&T better not give us cr*p about getting one and telling us we can't upgrade without paying a fortune.
