Apple won't do this. This is the most unprogressive thing they could do. If they were gonna go with this form factor, they would have done it well before Msoft came out with the nanoish Zune.

I'm betting on possibly touch features... but things can only get so small. If we just have a little square of touch video display, how are we going to comfortably watch stuff? I guess the only thing left is a 16:9 candybar nano. Really small.. that'd be tight.

I agree, the candybar nano would be amazing :)
Especially if it was literally just a screen, like the Touch etc, with on screen controls.

really? Really? Did you really just say that? Are you actually convinced that every single piece of technology made by apple is completly free of influience from Microsoft?

Well they would never copy them for an iPod or make it this obvious.
I'm sure they're done similar things as Microsoft, but I doubt they will copy a whole hardware design.

~Off Topic~ Holy crap, this got about 100 more post from the time I went to bed to the time I woke up.

Seriously.....what? Elimination of cover flow? Yes its useless but the paragraph before you were just raving about how Apple doesn't take steps backward

200 gb??? It is already offered at 160 gb. Thats like complaining about a 200 million dollar lottery win that you only actually got 160 million out of.

If you need more than 160 gig of anything on an iPod at any given time....then you need help. Period.

Really?
I need a 250GB iPod.
I have the 80GB and there is 210GBs of media on my iTunes.

Aw man I love fatty. Looks like I might be in a minority though :D

Think I might have to buy a spare or two!

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit...

Just leave the nano the way it is, you start making it bigger and it won't be "nano"... I think they should introduce a HD based Touch, 160GB and call it the iPod Pro or something since Apple likes to put "Pro" onto the end of their high end products.

A taller and/or wider screen nano doesn't make any sense to me. What would be the dif b/t that and a Touch other than the click wheel? Doesn't make sense to me. Right now each iPod has its own unique characteristic. For the nano to get bigger would make it no longer nano.

Ah yes, but do you really NEED all of that media at your finger tips at all times?

I'm not flaming or picking... just asking because I feel the same way as you do at times but then ask myself the question and I always answer back to myself "no I don't NEED everything all the time."

If I know I am going to be going somewhere away from my computer for a while I will load up what I think I will need on my iPhone for that trip. BTW, it's the original 4 GB iPhone. I don't NEED all of my music, I have created 2 playlists that sync up. I don't NEED all of my movies/TV Shows, so I sync one or two depending on sizes. The one thing that I feel I DO need are my photos. I can't tell you how many times I've been talking to someone and pulled out the iPhone to show them a pic from like 4 years ago.

I've found that 4GBs is just enough for my needs. Would I LIKE an 8GB or 16GB model? Hell yes! Do I NEED a 16GB iPhone, no, but I am hedging on NEEDING an 8GB iPhone in the next revision though.

Would you even keep the idea of the physical button (the home button) if the Nano's wheel got replaced by a touch screen? Seems like all you need is the touch screen and hold switch.

you really don't. You need playlists

People like you need to stop dictating to people like me what I need and how I should use it. What is it that you people don't get about people with large music/video collections wanting to carry their ENTIRE collection with them ALL THE TIME???? I travel for my job ALOT and do not have the time nor desire to decide in advance what I might want to listen to or watch (i.e. playlists) every time I'm away from home. That's the WHOLE POINT of a large HDD device. Why can't you understand that? And why does it bother you that people do have large media collections? Why do you even care?

Do you EVER see people on these boards/forums who have large media librariers castigating those who have an iPod shuffle or an 8GB nano/touch? I defy you to do a search and find that that is a common occurrence. Yet, those of us who have large media libraries are always berated for it. Enough already...get over it. It is what it is. Live your life the way you choose to & leave others alone to do the same.

Finally someone has said something.
It seems that people like us are being forgotten about and pushed off to the side when it comes to talk about the capacity of future iPods.
Thank you! ^_^

No way

That won't happen
more likely than that would be make the screen take up most of the nano and the wheel abandoned for good, a simple nano touch would be great. it could also explain a few other rumors like the iPod2,1 thing.

Why do so many people believe (or, for that matter, want) the new nano to sport a touch screen? Thats an awefully small touch screen! Forget feasiblity, the usablity alone makes touch a bad idea for the nano. Unless you have fingers tips the size of a penil tip, youll be fat-fingering every option. Not to mention, Apple sure isnt going to make it any wider then it currently is, nor any taller than it was before. Making it bigger would defeat the Nano's purpose. Also, consider the battery. It is small, and touch capability would suck a lot of juice really quick from the poor nano. Then you'd all be complaining about battery life! Lets get real, touch capability on the nano is not going to happen. Plus, whats so wrong with the click wheel?? What about then your driving, or working out, or its in your jeans, or your in the dark? Tactile input has many, many advantages over a glossy touch screen.

No this is the most logical statement I have seen in this horrible thread. Nano Touch as I don't see the need to change the current touch.

This has been a pet peeve of mine for quite some time. I suspect that the comments about large libraries are coming from the contingent of 10-13 year olds who frequent these boards and who don't have a clue about anything; i.e. as you get older and more mature (we hope!), your musical tastes tend to change, thus growing media libraries. Speaking only for myself, I find that I go through phases throughout the year in terms of my musical tastes. For example, right now I'm in Big Band music phase, so I've been buying some new stuff to listen to. And thus, my library grows bigger & I need more storage space for it. What a concept!

Said like a true Apple fan.
I hate it when people complain about a flaw they new was coming.
And I always change songs when it's in my jeans because I don't feel like taking it out.
Plus, we are more likely to see a watered down version of the Touch on the Classic than see one on the Nano.

are you serious? I was talking about nanos. How did this conversation veer off into the HDD based iPods?

It's people like me who at least try to stay on topic.
