No!
I will go crazy if I have to decide between what to put on and what not to.
I like having as much music and videos with me as possible.
I need a 250GB Classic.
I don't mind if they stop there, I will be happy.

If you are so indecisive as to get stymied when figuring what music to play maybe the size of an iPod's memory isn't your real problem. ;)

OK, seriously, I kind of know what you are talking about. I have a 500+ CD collection myself. I waited for for a 160GB forever. When it was announced I quickly sold my 80GB iPod. Then I couldn't find a 160GB model. I relied on my 8GB nano. Funny thing happened. I learned to be selective when choosing what music to put on my player. 8G is OK. I can't even listen to that much music in a week. If I get bored I just change up my music selection. (I never did buy that 160GB player went it became available.)

are you serious? I was talking about nanos. How did this conversation veer off into the HDD based iPods?

It's people like me who at least try to stay on topic.

Actually, someone said they'd rather see a 200GB iPod (which would obviously be HDD) then I think I said something to a reply someone did to that, then you started to carry on the conversation and name reasons why we don't need a 200GB iPod.

I may be wrong but I think that's how it went.

Since you can't remember what you said and to whom, I'll remind you (from your post, #199):

Nice try, though....

I like to show of my iPod and make other people jealous. DX.
So maybe if I got a 64GB Touch...
8GBs would be too small for me.
What I think would be a good idea for people like me that want everything at once, and want a Touch because of it's internet, can get a 160GB - 250GB (thinking ahead) Classic, AND an 8GB - 16GB Touch.

EDIT: I'm glad you found a technique that works for you, it's just not for me.

It's great that that method works for you, but don't assume that everyone else would/should be satisfied with your preferred approach for their own needs.

no, I understood he had a classic. I thought he (eventually) wanted a nano in a comparable size. Considering the nanos now have more capacity than the original iPods.

That mockup looks horrible so I hope this isn't true. I didn't really like the mockup of the current Nano before it was released either though but once I held one I really liked it. I do have faith in Apple to release something that has a wonderful design so if they go this route I expect it will look good.

Hmmm.... I'm pondering weather or not I should make a whole new thread on Apple's fall release.
Just like the rumors everyone's been having and whatnot.
It seems like this one is starting to get off topic.
Not just in terms of talking about the Touch or Classic, but the topic is the design of the new 4G Nano looking longer and more like the 2G.
Now we're starting to talk about it looking like the touch.

iPod Nano Touch!

Give me a break! Everyone knows that Apple's going to do an iPod nano touch!

The wheel is programmable. you can hold the wheel in one hand and scroll with your finger up or down on the screen. In otherwords the screen is multi-touch and the wheel moves with the rotation.

Just watch.;)

That would be an instant buy from me. If it was like a mini-iPod-touch, about the size of a 2G nano, but all screen and has the track wheel on screen, it's good enough for me.

At this point I don't even care... I'm looking for an excuse to buy the Black Nano. Some people say the Silver ones from Apple always tend to be better, but to that I say.... "That's a load of BS". Why would Apple purposefully make a difference in quality based on the color. Silly people...

Oh I read this at some iPod only website...

So... if the new Nanos DO look drastically different, I'm probably going for the current models. I don't want touch screen.

I have an iPod Touch and I love it, but to be honest, it's horrible in rainy conditions and during the winter (gloves don't work)

So okay..

1) Ipod classic - for the huge music playlists
2) ipod touch - genius
3) ipod shuffle - great for running and working out
4) ipod nano - hmm...not sure where it fits

In my experience, nanos are perfect for youngsters who want an iPod but don't need 80Gb or 160Gb. They're cheap, small, durable, and hold enough media. They're a step up from the shuffle, which a lot of kids don't want cause it doesn't feel like an iPod to them - no screen!

Nanos are also good for very casual music listeners who want something that doesn't require them to budget their income.

I never really liked shuffles or understood the need for them (except for even younger youngsters), but after being on this board for a while now I know how perfect it is for people doing outdoor activities.

I bring my shuffle to school with me. So if it got stolen I wouldn't be too horribly upset.

Plus, whats so wrong with the click wheel?? What about then your driving, or working out, or its in your jeans, or your in the dark? Tactile input has many, many advantages over a glossy touch screen.

Yeah, you can choose your song using the physical click wheel by feeling around in your pocket.

...

Oh wait, no you can't.

And when you're in the dark, the backlight comes on. Actually, I think it'd be easier to use a backlit touch screen in the dark than a click wheel.

But thinking about it, I do frequently feel around my pocket to hit the play/pause button. Maybe they can add a physical button next to the hold/lock switch for play/pause? Special button that doesn't even bother turning on the backlight and wasting battery power... yeah!

What about a backlit click-wheel? I am not sure how that would do, but it would solve that problem. I think we should NOT have a "iPod nano touch" because the clickwheel is meant for the iPods, and I think it will be staying for just a little bit longer.

to me it may seem they can condense the OS and all the functionality to a simple ipod os for the audio and video and whatever else is currently on the ipodnanos.

they dont have to cram the entire functionality/feautres (apps, wifi etc) into it and make it just as interactive with a "coverflow layout/OS" for the users music and video simplifying it that way and being innovative for using other features that may require input or misc functionality.

theyve definitely opened up an interesting door to new technology and innovations in the ipod line, though i dont think id ever need/want an iPOd nano but it may be very interesting to see what they may come up with
