Take my money now!!! This will be an incredible upgrade and I can't wait to get my hands on the next gen iPads. Consumers have been crying out for a better camera and the A8 processor will smoke the competition. These new iPads will be delightful to use.

They've been reporting anything and everything like this for some time now. It's sad really. "Random internet guy says new iPhone will have features we've been claiming it would have for years like NFC and stuff." Anything and everything that can drive a click and bring them ad revenue.

If you are not happy about the quality of the reporting on a site that is provided to you free of charge, you are free to stop visiting instead of whining about it.

News and rumor sites are only able to be provided to you because of ad and affiliate revenue. So despite whether you think the news posted is up to snuff, it is a necessity to keeping things fresh and keeping readers coming back.

While this may not be a huge upgrade for people with recent iPads, for those of us with older models this is tempting. I stuck with my iPad3, (the bastard child of the iPad family) for this long but it's starting to show it's age with newer apps.

The new Air will probably be the iPad I get to replace it. Then again, I said that about the original iPad Air but didn't get one.....

Where's the info on the 12" version? I'd buy that in a heartbeat.

Of course, consumers love to throw their money away! Its like Apple is becoming like the Call of Duty franchise. Same crap different release.

But seriously if Apple did make the iPad as a digitizer for Mac, I'd be very interested. Artists and photoshoppers would love to use this feature too. Whether this will cannibalize the Magic Trackpad is up in the air but I wouldn't care really.

You forgot to mention that this will change everything. Again.

Needs 2GB of ram minimum, and 32GB of storage minimum.

Side note: Why are the A7 iPads not getting slow motion video recording in iOS 8? I've never understood why I can't do that with my Retina Mini.

will the screen be tougher? Mine's broken twice with no obvious trauma. It's like a champagne flute. Dreadful durability.

In the past, people use cameras by looking into the tiny viewfinder. When we have LCD screens at the back of our camera, people were laughing, claiming that it is stupid. Fast forward today, there are cameras not having viewfinders anymore.

Same thing here. Seriously, when you take a picture, why would a smaller viewfinder be better than a larger viewfinder? Having a viewfinder as big as the iPad is awesome. You no longer have to squint and guess what kind of details you would get from your picture. Having to squint and shrink yourself to look at a tiny screen is an old paradigm.

Say that to the ' Pro's ' , they laugh at you.
And, I agree with them, a viewfinder is much better than viewing it on a LCD Display.
Try making a good photo in full sunlight with any LCD Display.

It makes sense that these are going into production now (slightly earlier than in previous years). Apple will probably combine the last few years separate iPhone and iPad events into one event in September - clearing the runway for the iWatch in October. This makes even more sense considering the iPad designs this year seem to be merely iterative.

I think it was already mentioned but I’d like to see a flash too. It has a camera, that’s had several improvements, and if you’re going to implement a camera, do it right - add a *flash*.

An iPad is a great opportunity camera, but there are dozens of vertical uses for the camera (I’ve got two use cases for the iPad camera in medical and criminal investigation).

I'm still using an iPad 2, and to be honest it does everything I need from a tablet. All I use it for is a coffee table web browser and a few throwaway games.

What were people expecting? It's a spec bump to bring it up to date. We already have retina and they are adding TouchID (good if payment gateways implement their API), what else could you want/need from a tablet? I think the next wave of innovation will be software not hardware.

Except that the form factor ups the shake and increases your odds of taking a crappy photo. And that's without taking into account the tiny sensor, lack of an optical zoom or quality glass, etc.

because the iPad air needs a new processor, a camera no-one really uses and a finger print sensor.. meh. Come on Apple.
speak for yourself I guess your just one of those that do not know how or do not plan to use a iOS device to its full potential. And oh I'm waiting for my touch ID on my iPad Air.

boost to 2gb of ram, the rest doesn't matter much...

I completely agree. The reason why I didn't upgrade to iPad Air was the ram. 1GB isn't enough for 64-bit. I don't believe that Apple will keep 1GB with next generation.

I am a power user I'm not having any problems having one gigabyte of RAM
