It doesn't seem like anything to write home about. I just recently purchased a brand new 16GB AT&T iPad Air for $420.00 off of craigslist.

I absolutely love this thing. It compliments my iMac and iPhone nicely. The only thing that interests me is touch ID as it may soon start to implement iCloud keychain in to the mix.

Tablet product improvements tend to be very incremental each year. There's only so much you can do hardware-wise in the span of a year.

I understand apple's more "consumer" products (ipad, iPhone) are geared more towards the consumer (duh) but if they really want to compete with the rest of the market they need to step up their performance. Yeah, I'm an average consumer, but performance (other than incremental processor upgrades and gimmicky features) is still an important factor I consider in my purchases. I'm not gonna slap down $500+ in 2014 for a computer with less than 4 gigs(actually less than 8 is just a waste IMO). I understand this is a tablet but still, i'd like at least 2 if not 3 gigs. And that is one reason I don't have an iPad.

Apple should be after offering the best hardware, which they do, but not numbing it down because they're software is optimized enough to make use out of such limitations (for the sake of being cheap/maximizing profit margins). Bottom line, These incremental upgrades are just a lazy way too make profit, ask Intel.

Wow, no kidding. That's major news!

ETNews must have put a lot of work into this breaking story.

Didn't read the article but the title just makes me roll my eyes. Macrumors kind of sucks now.

Next iPad Air May Include Upgraded A8 Processor, 8 Megapixel Camera

Hah that sucks - pic?

No pics. It's the upper right corner when held in portrait. The glass is cracked pretty bad but the touch screen works perfectly, and since I have a screen protector on, the cracks can't be felt and the plastic film locks everything in place so no bits of glass will get away. I no longer even really notice it, so no hurry getting it replaced.

2015: next iPad Air may include upgraded A9 processor and 9 megapixel camera.

2016: next iPad Air may include upgraded A10 processor and 10 megapixel camera.

2017: next iPad Air may include upgraded A11 processor and 11 megapixel camera.

2018: next iPad Air may include upgraded A12 processor and 12 megapixel camera.

Whatever next?

All with still have 1GB of Ram.....:D

Take more risk in that rumor ... like Better Battery, 2GB RAM, IGZO Display or nano coating glass for less reflections.

All I want is an iPad Air with 2GB of RAM.
Loading up tabs on my iPad 2 seems worse than ever. :(

Yeah....update ipad air waiting for it to update so I can get one...fingerprint sensor ,2gb of ram , 8mp camera , and A8 chip .....definitely buy for me...don't know when it actually come out though hope it's after the imac because I'm getting one for my birthday which already pass by one day now......

this is good news! i was afraid they would go back to the A4 processor and make the iPad thicker and heavier.

The iPad Air is such a huge improvement over the 3rd and 4th generation models that the only thing Apple can add is Touch ID and an improved rear image sensor.

Apple has added real value to every iPad rev they have delivered. The problem is people only seem to want to value what is missing not what has been added. A7 is a good example here, it is a hugely significant advancement for Apple and the industry, yet it gets dismissed by many in the forums world. The value in iPad is demonstrated by its sales success

Then Mac Rumors should highlight that instead of simply make a post like this which is just fluff based on the fact that each year they've released a new processor. If they had some real info on what has changed with the new processor and how it will better the user experience, that'd be a legit article. Instead, they made this pile simply to drive clicks and ad revenue which adds no value.

Higher pixel density display

I'd like updated displays, like the one on the Kindle Fire HDX. I still have an iPad 2, and the main reason for me to upgrade would be the display. Text quality and video quality improvements would be what I notice. The current retina display is great, but the Fire HDX has a better one, and the difference is noticeable to me. The difference between my iPad 2 and the current retina display isn't enough for me to justify an upgrade. I can live without TouchID, and any camera improvements are welcome.

*Mind Blown*

Although, there was some speculation that they might just reuse the A7 since it is "currently not being used to it's full potential."
