Speaking of using a huge display for a camera

For those writing about how odd it looks when someone uses an iPad as a camera ... how about this camera (link and attachment)?! :) It has a 10" display! Sort of like having an iPad physically attached to a larger (pro) camera . . .

I think you'd see 2gb when Apple can do multitasking side-by-side... Which might be a8 level...

Apple will not waste of time with 2 GB
Most likely jump to 6 GB. This should almost be a sure thing since iOS 8 will have a computational photography API

News and rumor sites are only able to be provided to you because of ad and affiliate revenue. So despite whether you think the news posted is up to snuff, it is a necessity to keeping things fresh and keeping readers coming back.

Content for content sake is going to hurt them in the end. Every content marketer knows this and even has results to prove it. It's much like BuzzFeed. Their click grabbing headlines will work for a short while but people will begin to become distrustful and stop falling for their click bait headlines. The next iPad might include a new A-chip?? I didn't see that one coming at all...

In other news, the next F-150 may include tires. :p

Wow, didn't see that coming :D

Ok, obviously the same content as the 84 replies before - so something more serious: A surprise would be if Apple finally manages to deliver a reasonable number of iPads without shadow lines on the sides of the screen...up until now I returned one New iPad (3rd Gen?!?) and two Airs. So maybe I'm lucky this time and will finally be an owner myself?

People say how can they keep improving the ipad?

Well at launch in 2010 who would have thought it would have a camera and maybe possibily finger print and ultra thin?

Apple will always have new ideas they don't always need to do a big upgrade every year. People who have older iPads may update but people who got the Air maybe don't have to.

because the iPad air needs a new processor, a camera no-one really uses and a finger print sensor.. meh. Come on Apple.

Well, if Apple didn't update the processor, they removed the camera, and they left out TouchID, can you imagine how ridiculous that would be? These are just the no-brainers listed by some analyst with no real information.

In any case, the fingerprint sensor is by far my favorite feature of the 5S, and Apple hasn't even implemented its full potential into iOS yet. I like Touch ID better than the lighter weight, faster speed, and larger screen of the 5S. To each his own, but I have to imagine that anyone who thinks Touch ID isn't great is someone who isn't actually using it.

who says apple cant innovate? The ipad is a great product, but with a surprisingly small development headroom.

Actually A8 is exactly what the next iPad needs! I would broaden that a bit and say they need an A8 and more RAM and flash.

----------

A7... hmmmmm... what comes after 7....... hmmmmm. Wait, eureka, it's 8!!!!!!!
It shall be known that the next processor shall be the A8, unless Apple changes it's name to Banana, in which case it *may* be the B8.

Actually there have been rumors afloat that suggest that Apple will focus on improvements to power usage. So we could see an A7X This would sort of be like Intels tick toc cadence (that they have screwed up with Broadwell).

----------

I use the camera. I would use it more if my 4S didn't already have a better camera.

The processor on the other hand... I don't care about that as much (it's plenty fast for what it does) but extra RAM all the way down the whole iDevice line would certainly be welcomed.

The processor is very important when it comes to delivering new app concepts and functionality. However that also means more RAM or those apps won't happen. Sadly Apple has been real slow to evolve the I device line up when it comes to RAM and storage I'd really like to see this addressed in the next rev

I'll buy it if if has touch id and wifi a.c if not ill
Keep playing the waiting game ###

I'm kind of concerned that Apple will eventually reach a dead end with the iPad. I mean seriously they're just gonna say, "New processor, much performance, new Camera, omg TouchID, better battery life, much thinner". I have no idea what else can they improve in that thing. iOS is something different but in terms of hardware, idk.
First off processor improvements are needed and will continue to be needed into the future. Ultimately you would want an iPad capable of running the SIRI AI locally on the device Even if we step away from that dream, the reality is iPad needs far more processing power, RAM and storage too.

As for other hardware just use your imagination, there is much that could be added to iPad to make it a more useful device. Especially in the context of environmental sensing
Maybe they can improve stylus precision so that when you write its more accurate? Maybe iPad can become a digitizer for the Mac? waterproof? 32GB is the new standard? external card storage? i'm just throwing ideas.

You aren't even trying are you?

Apple has added real value to every iPad rev they have delivered. The problem is people only seem to want to value what is missing not what has been added. A7 is a good example here, it is a hugely significant advancement for Apple and the industry, yet it gets dismissed by many in the forums world. The value in iPad is demonstrated by its sales success

----------

It will either be 1GB or 2GB.

Actually it could be just about anything, If Apple sticks with the current memory standards you probably won't see more that 2GB, however there are emerging standards for low power solutions that may make much more in the way of RAM possible

I am perfectly content with my current rMini. However I fully plan to buy myself the next iPad Air the day it becomes available.
My wife has an Air, and although I am very tempted to buy one exactly like hers, I think I will wait because i don't actually need it. I keep my rMini with me all day every day. It fits in my back pocket and fills my every need. I simply want the larger screen available when I'm at home.
For this article, thank you MacRumors because I am absolutely hungry for any news whatsoever about the new Air. I'm like a kid that can't wait:p

Sitting on an iPad 3 right now the greatest problem I see with the platform is the lack of RAM, so that has to be addressed. Closely related to that is the computational power of the A series processor, it just needs to continue moving forward.

By the way it isn't just the quality of RAM it its performance. For a lot of stuff faster access to that RAM is very important as you don't want the CPU or the GPU becoming I/O bound to memory. Related to this would be a frame buffer built into the SoC to help reduce the bandwidth problem and lower power usage.

If they address these issues in an A8 powered iPad I'd be very interested in an update.

The cracked screen is pretty much the only thing that I dislike enough on my iPad 2 to make me considering an upgrade. And it's been cracked for some two years already, so it's not that pressing, really.

A stylus, or even better, stylus + OSX would have me upgrading in no time, but for now, I'll stick with the "deuce".

Hah that sucks - pic?

If they make a mini with a better colour gamut screen, A8 processor with 2GB RAM, and Touch ID, I'll happily get one. Especially if they double the storage space.
